    Jerry Leeds must be one of the hardest people on Earth to duet with.
    How do you pick your harmony with a man who never sings a song the same way twice?
    The only time he looks at her is the discouraging glance at 1.45. There's not much room left for anyone else once the Killer and his ego take the stage!

      Definitely one of the greatest Country voices. There are lots of good Country singers, very good voices, and so on. However, they tend to be a bit generic. There's nothing generic about JLL's voice which is absolutely unique. Sad, lost sound with an almost wailing Blues touch as he slides and slurs around notes in a way that seems to be spontaneous, and he's living what he's singing about. It all adds up to greater emotional impact than any other Country singer, past or present, can create.

      They're referring to a picture taken at Sun Records of Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, and Jerry Lee. They were standing up, and Jerry Lee is the last man standing out of that group.

    • @mikefule330
      @mikefule330 4 роки тому +1

      He made an album called "Last Man Standing". He was in the "Million Dollar Quartet" (a set of informal recordings) with Elvis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash. Then after Elvis died, there was a live album featuring the other 3 together called "The Survivors". Now Carl and Johnny have gone, he is "the last man standing" of that group and "The Mean Old Man". But yes, Little Richard is still around, as are one or two others from that era. However, Little Richard was not one of the Sun artists from that legendary formative period of rockabilly and rock and roll.

      +Beth Bartlett Jerry Lee Lewis is one of the 3 greatest Rock and Roll performers and one of the 3 greatest Country Western performers in history and I imagine Emmy Lou was proud as hell to share a stage with him. She in turn was a beautiful young woman with, as you describe, a star quality voice that JLL surely enjoyed accompanying. So I guess I'm taking your bet. Now all we have to do is contact both of them to settle it!

      bryan phillips yes he is considered this and has the R&R talent and Country as well - however - the man does not have the vocal gift, nor music (study/understanding) of Emmylou - and that's more than I wish to say on the subject - I enjoy both of them.
      If Chet Atkins were still here I would refer the subject to his already recognized understanding. -
      Just enjoy - I was speaking at/of a separate point.

      I no longer try to imagine them w/o their NPD -
      It is too bad - and that's where it ends. To be bitter, angry, to be sad for the fact, or even try to explain the current descriptions of how - is a large waste of time and energy - it is for a few immune Professionals equipped w the education and true immunity/abilities to handle -
      No matter what - thwy won't change and even if treated during the ""conduct disorder stage", prior to 18. (That another point that needs reality - they are just younger NPDs and Bullies need to be recognized as Same - just a label of the behavior, tbe disorder is Narcissist Personality Disorder) plain and clearly stated.
      Now 3000 misunderstanding fans will swoop to rescue his misunderstood reputation and flog me w Comments - those won't change facts either.

    A test of your real musical ability was to be able to hang with Jerry Lee on a song like this. He was so smooth and did it his way. If you couldn't move with him through the song he left you behind. Very few could hand with Jerry Lee. Elvis was pretty good at it. Jerry Reed was good at it, and Waylon Jennings could do it. But Jerry Lee would always be the guy in charge of the beat and delivery. No body delivers a song like Jerry Lee. It's all in the beat, and you either keep up with it, or

    Crazy Arms was the first Jerry Lee Lewis single - backed by End Of The Road which Jerry wrote - released by Sun Records in 1956. It was also the first Jerry Lee tape heard by Sam Phillips. Although neither song charted, it launched Jerry Lee's career. If you listen to all of his early songs, you'll see how much he influenced the music that followed - both rock and country. When will he get the recognition he deserves?
