Rick’s biggest problem with HOO is unnecessary ships. But HO Hades will always be my No 1 no matter what. Seeing Percabeth in Tartarus broke my heart into a million pieces. It strengthened their relationship even more, which i didn't think was possible. I honestly think they wouldn't be able live without each other. 💔😭
I agree that House of Hades may not have the best storyline, but in terms of Percabeth, it is the best, and i know you agree to that. That's why it is ranked at the top for most of the fandom. Even Rick himself acknowledged that this book belonged to Percabeth and that's why they didn't get any chapters in the BOO. He wanted to give other characters some development as Percy's and Annabeth's story was almost over.
When i read the last book of TOA I honestly thought it would be the last series. Which has happened in many other series I've read. So when I read that last paragraph I was literally tearing up and i personally think that it was Rick Riordan's second best wrap-up to series.
My reaction to you putting House of Hades in "MEH" was: "Dam." Edit: My reaction to you moving House of Hades to "flew too close to the sun" was "DAM!"
I'm so glad you are coming to see the amazingness that is love-of-my-life Jason Grace. I always liked him, but one day I was reading a character analysis of Percy vs Jason and I realized that, while Percy is the better character, if it was real life, Jason would be the person that I would most enjoy spending time with. (And let's just say I'm about 20 years older than you!).
I always say Mark of Athena is my favorite HoO book because of the Annabeth solo quest. I love her so much because she doesn't have any powers like the others, she only has her wits and her strength and the supplies in her backpack but she is still in my opinion one of the most if not the most powerful demigod ever.
house of hades is just the goat. we have so many things going at once it’s crazy. it’s so percabeth coded with them in tartarus 😔💗 then we have leo, i swear the satisfaction i felt after he finally found someone who loved him 🥺 (i am there but like he doesn’t know me) and frazel proved themselves 😩 and we can’t forget about nico 😳😜
Yeah i agree i dunno why she thinks like that. It has everything and the story is amazing especially Percabeth, it deserves top tier if not the first place.
@@CoraJanisch I totally agree with you. HOH is the best book for me and for most of the fandom and nothing can ever change that. However, I respect her opinion, even if i didn't like it. People have their own taste, doesn't they?

@@CoraJanisch Lol I didn't blame you. You are absolutely right. Nothing ever can beat the House of Hades. It was an emotional roller coaster for me with Percy and Annabeth. I fell in love with this couple even more than I could have possibly imagined.
The ONLY complaint I have about the Magnus chase series is that it set me up for disappointment when the goats in Thor Love and Thunder WEREN'T anthropomorphic sweeties with serious mental health issues. DANGIT OTIS AND MARVIN
Leo had povs chapters and Piper had a set of pov chapters in HOO. I like the book for the Tartarus stuff and do prefer it over SON, TLH and BOO. The biggest issue I have with it is everything surrounding Leo and Calypso and Leo acting like Percy did Calypso dirty when Percy did nothing wrong. He was nothing but kind to her and asked the gods to free her from her curse/punishment.
I love most of these books. Heroes of Olympus is my favorite pjo series. I'm going to rank these by series. Percy Jackson and the Olympians: 1. The Last Olympian 2. Battle of the Labyrinth 3. The Titan's Curse 4. The Lightning Thief 5. Sea of Monsters Kane Chronicles: 1. Throne of Fire 2. The Serpent's Shadow 3. The Red Pyramid Heroes of Olympus: 1. House of Hades 2. Mark of Athena 3. Son of Neptune 4. Blood of Olympus 5. The Lost Hero Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard: 1. Hammer of Thor 2. Sword of Summer 3. Ship of the Dead Trails of Apollo: 1. The Burning Maze 2. Tower of Nero 3. The Hidden Oracle 4. The Dark Prophecy 5. The Tyrant's Tomb
I agree with most, but I would put House of Hades in side quest and Blood of Olympus in flew to close to the sun. The thing is, Percabeth made HOH to me. I dislike the other plots, but Percabeth is just SO GOOD in this book, and I am a sucker for them hahaha I also like Nico and Jason bonding. About BOO... I just hate this book so much. I think the """"battle""" was just so bad, it soured the whole thing. I don't even know if that expression exists... I also hate that we only had Jason, Piper, Leo, Nico and Reyna POVs. Really, why? I mean, Nico and Reyna are cool... but... whyyy???
We didn’t need both Nico and Reyna (arguably I’d have dropped Reyna’s PoV and possibly given her a book like the Solangelo one) and dropping Annabeth’s PoV disappointed me. She’s the only of the Seven without inherent magical powers, focus a little more on her thinking through things please
After hearing your thought of HOH, I remember why I love this book so much. I skiped everthing that not percy and annabeth the first time, and I never pay attention to Leo, frank and Hazel parts in this book.
I agree. It is all about Percabeth and it is told by Rick himself. That's why he decided not to give Percy and Annabeth any chapters in this book. It is Number 1 for me.
I think this is going to be my ranking, best to worst: The Last Olympian The Battle of the Labyrinth The Serpent's Shadow The House of Hades The Throne of Fire The Mark of Athena The Lightning Thief The Chalice of the Gods The Son of Neptune The Titan's Curse The Red Pyramid The Sea of Monsters The Hammer of Thor The Tower of Nero The Tyrant's Tomb The Burning Maze The Sword of Summer The Ship of the Dead Wrath of the Triple Goddess (eh, maybe it'll grow on me) The Hidden Oracle The Lost Hero The Dark Prophecy The Blood of Olympus The Sun and the Star (I only read it once at release, so maybe this is unfair)
I think the lost hero would have been significantly better liked and easier to get into if Annabeth had gone on that quest. I understand he wanted to let the new characters shine bit, he needed Annabeth to be what percy was in the son of Neptune; a character who the reader already knows and helps anchor the story whilst introducing new characters and settings.
Also it didn't necessarily need to be Annabeth, she was just the most obvious imo, because what did she actually do. Ik she was looking for percy but the story works perfectly well if he'd just say she went with because hera told her she'd find a clue about him and she put aside her issues with her to find percy
I honestly disagree, it was refreshing to have a book focused on new characters rather than dwelling on old ones (which Is done enough later on). Annabeth played her role in the book perfectly and didn't need anymore page time
17:43 for me I didn’t read the back of the book so I was completely confused when I saw “Jason” on the first page and I told myself “it’s ok just read until Percy shows up and it will be ok” but it never happend 😭😭😭 Came for Percy stayed for Leo 😭
I actually reread HOO recently and while it on no way compares to Mark of Athena, House of Hades is still an amazing book because of Percabeth and the small moments we get between some of the characters. The arcs aren’t great but the characters have some amazing interactions.
titan's curse in my opinion had one of the best pre percabeth related scene. When percy meet aphrodite for the first time and immediately noticed she looked like annabeth
I want to do a full reread of the Riordanverse because it's been years since I've read some of these books (the only exceptions being The sun and the star and chalice of the gods which I read this summer). It would be so interesting to see how my opinions have changed after all this time ! I had so much fun reading Chalice of the Gods because it feels like I'm growing up with them after knowing them for so long.
Ok but people tend to get sappy when they don’t know if they’re gonna live or not 😒 It makes sense that Nico and Will would be out of character because they are literally going to the deepest depths of hell and they don’t know if they’ll live or whether or not they’ll stay in the deepest depths of hell if they die there But that’s just my opinion ig 🤷🏼♀️ 💛🖤 TSATS is my favorite book if you couldn’t tell 🥲💅
Heroes of Olympus for me (since it's the most recent series I re-read) is: Lost hero = dam good Son of Neptune = meh Mark of Athena = flew too close to the sun House of Hades = dam good Blood of Olympus = meh
The 4th book of the main percy jackson series (the battle of the labyrinth), in my personal opinion does not deserve immortality. It did a good job of setting up the finale. It is all a mess in my opinion, Rachel shows up out of nowhere and she and Annabeth immediately start beefing, like honestly there can be multiple female protagonists without them having problems with each other Rick...There are also a lot of random side characters introduced/mentioned in this book that either don't really have much importance or disappear after the book, and the labyrinth isn't that interesting as a place for the setting of the book, and there are SO MANY SIDE QUESTS! The 500 different ones inside of the labyrinth, and then Percy getting zapped off to Calypso's island for a chapter, Annabeth getting mad at even the mention of Rachel by Percy, and at the end of the book Rick suddenly remembering that Grover needs to fulfill his quest.
Honesty I would have put House of Hades in dam good I just loved the Percabeth angst and the house of hades ending in my opinion is the best ending in heroes of Olympus
Maturing is realizing that all the Heroes of Olympus books have bad elements and none of them come near to the perfection of stuff like The Lightning Thief or The Last Olympian. A lot of people hate The Lost Hero, and I don’t disagree. It set up almost everything I hate about the rest of the series, including the Lost Trio who I just cannot stand. (Yes, Leo too.) Son of Neptune is fine. Hazel and Frank don’t make a huge impression and I just don’t think the quest is particularly interesting or fun. Mark of Athena wastes the group dynamic between the seven demigods. You said in the video that each character is only allowed to interact with two others, but then you put MoA as a top tier…but that problem begins in this book. Also either Hazel or Frank should’ve had POVs, not Piper. House of Hades is soooooo borrrrring. And yes, the Tartarus stuff too. It’s just uninteresting side plot after uninteresting side plot. It’s a genuine slog to read through because everything feels like filler. None of Piper, Hazel, Jason or Frank’s plotlines pay off in any way. And imo, The Blood of Olympus is Rick’s worst book. I don’t think he set himself up to succeed, but it was just so disappointing, especially compared to the epic and satisfying finale PJO had. The final battle is an infamous joke, and Reyna and Nico getting POVs was stupid, I’m sorry. I get people like those characters, but everything they did was so boring and irrelevant it hurts. They literally stole Hazel and Frank’s chapters. It’s a crime.
Your opinion is fine and it does not have to align with our's but most of the others believe that HOO is the best sequel to the original series, with House of Hades in 1st place. I honestly believe that you have matured and grown out of the Riordan verse if you found house of hades boring.
Hazel and Frank didn't need more p.o.vs,they were already completed in HOH. And I do not understand how HOH is full of filler. If it was the five "up-top" I can understand, but to say that Tartarus is fillery makes no sense,Percabeth were too busy struggling to survive.
