@@VinhNguyen-wr1yd there should be no change in color if you're using transparency lock, if you're using a brush to color with transparency lock enabled maybe check the top where it shows brush settings and see if the blending mode is set to normal.
With clipping masks, again, the only way with the colors being different than the one selected is blending modes and opacity issues.

Cool video. A suggestion from one of my favourite artists is to learn the keyboard shortcuts for both the tools and actions. The more you practice, you'll develop speed and clicking on the tool icons slow you down. Photoshop essentials: (B)rush, (E)raser, (P)en, (L)asso, colour sample (I), Colour fill (Alt+backspace).
For the tool buttons that have multiple functions, you'll still have to click and hold on the tool icon to bring up the icon sub-menu though.

Not quite as quick and easy as the thumbnail suggests.
Transparency lock is nice, but I prefer using solid color layers and applying masks to groups so that I can keep my shading in a different layer than my base color. Sometimes, I'll also have a group for the colors of the entire character just to make sure I don't accidentally have any transparent pixels on my character.
Separating the lines from the white background using the channels window is smart.
I usually use a layer effect in Krita that's called "color to alpha", which turns a selected color into transparency. The higher the color value, the lower the opacity. When selecting white, it only leaves the black lines.
I really liked the part in the beginning of the process where you drew guidelines for the shapes to determine where the light will be and where the shadows will be. I feel like I should try using guidelines for shading and not only for drawing. This is a good tip.

Funny thing about me: graduated top in visual arts, extensive knowledge of drawing, high understanding of lights and shadows..... But somehow I was always afraid of Photoshop painting. I paint hand to canvas all the time, but not being able to have that actual control is difficult for me. I would draw beautiful line drawings and illustrations, but be at a loss when it came to color, since the black outline made the drawing sharp, and using colors would mute it. But now, I have the confidence to take all the line drawings I've done since 2012 and turn them into Photoshop masterpieces. Thank you so much!

I got a Huion H610 PRO V2 for under $90US. It's WAY bigger than the smallest wacom graphics board. It''s a great piece of hardware that's easy to set up and fairly straight forward. For my line art, I just clean up the scan, double click on the layer, click ok which will turn it into a new unlocked layer (layer 0), then turn layer to multiply. It will show all layers and colors, beneath the lineart layer but you only see the lineart itself by making the white background "invisible".
