I forgot, 1985 was the year our Nitty Gritty Dirt Band loving son was born, we took him to see NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND, we loved, he loved it and we all treasure that magic night in 2012.
On this day in 1971 {March 28th} the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band performed "Mr. Bojangles" on the CBS-TV program 'The Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour'... Four months earlier on November 21st, 1970 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #9 and spent 19 weeks on the Top 100... It reached #2 on the Canadian RPM Tracks chart... Was composed and 1st recorded in 1968 by Jerry Jeff Walker, his version peaked at #77 on the Top 100 and #51 in Canada... May God bless Mr. Campbell...
We love The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, this song is such an old favorite. Saw them in the 90’s and 2012 at Mt. Baker theater, they were incredible that night. I remember when they played The Experience, a teen rock club in 1967-68, my best friends big brother, also one of my best friends, Mike got to see the NGDB, he said they were so good and he’s definitely reliable, he gave us music appreciation schooling 😊
This one will always be for my brother Jonathan always and forever. I have followed this band for ever as much as possible. Met them once and got Jimmy's autograph. Wonderful guys.
On this day in 1971 {May 29th} the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band performed "Mr. Bojangles" and "House at Pooh Corner" on the late Dick Clark's American Bandstand... Six months earlier on November 21st, 1970 "Mr. Bojangles" entered Billboard's Hot top 100; eventually it peaked at #9 and spent 19 weeks in the Top 100... And one month earlier on April 24th "House at Pooh Corner" entered the Top 100 and it reached #53 and stayed 13 weeks in the Top 100... R.I.P. Mr. Clark...
Got to be the saddest song I know a true classic too be able to bring out so much emotion they just don't write songs like this any more and that is the saddest thing of all THANKS
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (sometimes abbreviated NGDB), known as the Dirt Band from 1978 to 1983, is an American band founded in Long Beach, California, in 1966.🥁🎸❤️
Jerry Jeff Walker, about a homeless man he met in a New Orleans jail while behind bars himself. The man, who used the alias Mr Bo Jangles (after a contemporary film star), was a dancer and street performer. Oh, and yes, he did travel with his dog for 15 years, until the dog died, and was still mourning 20 years later. Easy enough to find out in the days of Google, not really worth getting all bothered about.

Nice
🥰
Considering that they have frequently performed the song with Jerry Jeff Walker, who wrote it, I'd guess they probably do
Great song and performance , but don't know why they had to leave out two verses ... Time constraints ??
Wasn't this the first Farm Aid ever? I got to watch part of it in Perry New York
