The unemployment rate in Vermont is 1.9%, so the jobs are definitely not gone. Saying the leaders are communist is such a tired and false talking point from conservatives who, like you, have absolutely no clue what communism is (or socialism for that matter). As for high taxes, yes the northeast is known for high taxes, but those high taxes result in the best quality of life (healthcare, education, overall standard of living) in the country while republican strongholds like Mississippi and Arkansas have quality of life standards that are worse than developing countries.

The reason for the low unemployment in Vermont is because nobody wants to live there! Their pool of workers is nil. When IBM left Essex Jct and South Burlington, it sucked the life out Chittenden County. There's nothing left that's worth while. UVM has the highest tuition in the country and look at the piss poor education you get in return. Vermont isn't Vermont anymore. Nobody wants to live there anymore

It’s a small state, not known its major industries, and it’s cold. It’s the same reason people aren’t flocking to New Hampshire and Maine. As for UVM, it doesn’t have the highest tuition, not even when you factor in out of state tuition. Not by a long shot. As for the quality, I can’t say, but you could easily say that about any college in red or blue states (by the way, what are conservatives doing about affordable education? Squat)
Vermont and New Hampshire are conservative af, just not the Bible Belt conservatism in Alabama and Mississippi where people try to ban abortion and get rid of same sex marriage. That's why Republicans do so well there, because they've learned to stfu on social issues.
