Regarding 2:53, in 1830 at the United States Mint in Philadelphia, there arrived the bald eagle named Peter Jefferson who made it his home. He remains there today preserved as its mascot.
Don’t auction off 230 privy mark in December. That is back-stepping the progress you just made with the community upon the release of the first set of privy marks on the silver coin. Trust me people won’t want to buy the gold flowing hair when you do this and you will lose more of peoples trust in the us mint.
It is unfortunate that only the rich people will get a chance to obtain one of these special coins. The handling of the sale of the silver medal gave everyone a chance to own one. I bought a silver medal, and will never sell it.
The US Mint made 17270 of the gold coins without the privy mark, and will offer them for sale on Nov 14 for under $4K. You can order one if you're ready at the time of the sale, and reasonable good at navigating the web site and filling out its forms.
The mint failed the common collector once again. I think this is the last time I wil deal with the mint. I’ll be conducting a discussion on this. It’s bad form on the mint and complete disregard of the people that keep them in business
It was available with a Household Order Limit of 1 for over 30 hours. I have 2 apartments and 2 accounts, so I waited 2-3 minutes in the Waiting Room before I bought 2 in 45 seconds. I'll try to do the same for the gold coin. [A friend's brother isn't computer savvy, and I get him 1 when he asks me.]
Why was the Flowing Hair Dollar made as a medal for 2024? I doubt collectors wanted that. It’s a beautiful piece and it should’ve been issued as a dollar as originally minted.
New silver coinage must be approved by the US Congress. The US Mint doesn't need such approval for coins made of gold, platinum, or palladium, or medals made of those metals or silver. It's a quirky law, which likely has a history related to the act that forced the US gov to buy millions of ounces of silver and mint Morgan dollars that nobody wanted at the time.
WHY ARE THE GOLD PRIVY MARK COINS ONLY GOING TO BE AVAILABLE BY AUCTION? OUTRAGEOUS! THANK YOU MS. GIBSON FOR CONTINUING TO DISRESPECT THE COIN COLLECTORS. BOYCOTT THE US MINT!
Say, in this video the gold coin is clearly shown with a privy mark on it, yet the Mint's description says that it has "none". What's the deal with that?
Only 230 of them. Check the Mint's press release, as it mentions an auction for them, with the first coin sold being specially packaged with a (çançelled) dïë. [NB: Ewe Toob bahns certain words.] Better views of the privy mark are shown at 04:07, 04:09, and 04:15 -- go to Settings to select full screen mode, high resolution, and playback speed of 0.25; pause; and then step through the frames to get the best view. Eventually, the Mint will update the page for 24YG to include high-resolution images with the privy mark.
According to the press release, of the 17500 coins minted, only 230 will have it, and they'll be auctioned off (except whatever the US Mint keeps for itself).
According to the press release, of the 17500 coins minted, only 230 will have it, and they'll be auctioned off (except whatever the US Mint keeps for itself).
What will they cost ?!?! And is the Mint website capable of handling orders in a fair manner for collectors... rather than giving preference to APs, coin dealers and grading companies?
The US Mint pricing grid doesn't have an entry specifically for the Flowing Hair gold coin (24YG). Its pricing likely will be similar to the American Liberty gold coins (23DA, 17XA), due to the similarities with those coins. The pricing formula is the Mint's weekly spot XAU, plus a premium of $965. The Liberty & Brittania gold coin is priced $55 higher, as it's a collaboration with the Royal Mint. The US Mint can handle the release of the 17,270 "regular" coins via its Waiting Room feature. Thus far, there are no details for the auction of the 229 coins with the privy mark. (I assume the US Mint will keep 1 for its collection.)
SHAME on you for screwing over your loyal customers by auctioning off the 230 flowing hair gold coins with privy mark on December 12th. They should have been mixed in, similar to what was done with the silver medals. So messed up and disappointing! GREEDY!!
"As a tribute to the number of years that have elapsed since the Flowing Hair dollar coin was introduced, the Mint will also auction 230 one ounce, high relief, 24-karat gold coins with a “230” privy mark on December 12, 2024. The first coin will be auctioned with the die in a custom-made display box. Each of the coins will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity hand-signed by the Honorable Ventris C. Gibson, Director of the United States Mint. Additional details about this special auction will be released at a later date."
Wow, I guess I will have to sell some stocks to afford the 230 privy one but the first one? Most likely a bigger fish than me will get it. Hopefully I can buy one of the 230 so I can display it in one of my youtube videos!! Good luck all!!!
I'm guessing they'll be over $10K each, but the 1st one with the çançelled dïë will be well out of reach for most folks. Remember the 2020-W American Eagle gold coin with "V75" privy mark? The US Mint made 1,945 and kept 1 or 2 for itself. The 2024 Flowing Hair gold coin with "230" privy mark has a lower population of 230. I wish the plan was to mix them with the "regular" mintage, instead of being auctioned off, because I'm going to try to buy 1 on Nov 14, and it'll be a great gift if it has the privy mark. [Note: Ewe Toob bahns certain words.]
Why all the secrecy on these.releases? No pictures, no prices until 1 week before it drops? Privy, no privy? Come clean and quit playing these stupid games. $1,000 over the spot price of Gold? I don't have $3,800 lying around! Smaller versions, more affordable, keep the mintages low!
Part 1: The US Mint sets its weekly price of gold at the close of business every Wednesday, and updates the prices of each of their products based on the gold, platinum, or palladium content, plus a premium. The premiums can be computed from the pricing grid table it releases periodically. Unfortunately, 24YG isn't listed. I believe it'll be priced like the American Liberty gold coin (23DA, 17XA), as it has similar specifications (proof, high relief, .9999 AU, 1.000 ozt, 1.205" diameter, edge lettering for 17XA). It may cost a little more if it's priced like 24YA. The pricing formulas for these items are:
Part 3: Right now, spot XAU is $2684.04, so if the US Mint uses this in its weekly pricing, it'll set its XAU to $2650. Thus, these coins will be priced at $3615 and $3670, respectively.
Part 4: [Note that these coins have 1 ozt of gold. Other gold products may have 1.00, 0.50, 0.25, 0.10, 1.85 (gold set), or 0.245 (commemorative) ozt of gold, so the coefficient to XAU will change accordingly. Also, note that the premiums ($965 or $1020) differ for other products. There are 2 products that instead use XPT (platinum) or XPD (palladium). It's easy to compute the formulas for the US Mint's pricing grid, yet I wonder why it never publishes them to replace the large tables with a short list of 17 formulas, nor posts its weekly XAU, XPT, and XPD values.]
Very anodyne and milk toast..the Director's delivery was beyond wooden, and uninformative..For example, what is the mintage?...could it be these details are still open? I was hoping for actual information. By the way, your new site is very awkward to use...
Unsure why Ewe Toob removed my response ... The US Mint's website gives the specifications for its page for 24YG. The press release mentions the 230 with the privy mark that will be auctioned off. The design can't be open, since the release date is very soon, and the coins were already minted.
😥 This is unfair! Auction for 230 coins and the regular people left without anything! At least make 1794 coins lottery like the silver medal one.
It’s called American democracy 🤣
Regarding 2:53, in 1830 at the United States Mint in Philadelphia, there arrived the bald eagle named Peter Jefferson who made it his home. He remains there today preserved as its mascot.
if you look at time stamp 4:07, I think you can see the priv mark on the gold coin.
Yeah...but the privy mark ones are all going to be Auctioned Off. Which Sucks.☹️✌️
The golden coin does indeed have a Privy mark version @ 4:11.
Don’t auction off 230 privy mark in December. That is back-stepping the progress you just made with the community upon the release of the first set of privy marks on the silver coin.

Anyone can buy a gold at normal price, and anyone with deep pockets can buy a privy gold. Nothing fairer
The flowing hair design has been my favorite since I started collecting at 8 yrs old 🍻🍻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Now you can get pristine ones in silver uncirculated and gold proof. And they're cheaper than the $100K+ for an original coin.
Another beautiful coin I'll never get my hands on

Why did you make the flowing hair medal impossible to buy? Your website should just link directly to ebay scalpers 😂
It was super easy to buy. Was available over 24 hours to anyone who wanted one
It was available with a Household Order Limit of 1 for over 30 hours. I have 2 apartments and 2 accounts, so I waited 2-3 minutes in the Waiting Room before I bought 2 in 45 seconds. you can clearly see on time stamp 4:09

We the people should have a chance at one of the privy mark coins in gold as the silver. I believe doing this would hurt your sales in the future.
😊 This shows a "230" privy mark on the 2024 Gold coins at the 4:10 to 4:17 mark in this video from the US mint.
Good eye. Seemed like the privy mark was on only the silver coins.
No one asked... averyone has eyes I definitely need your input on what time they show the privy
Screw the dealers! Its we the people!!!! They never should have had access to the 230 privy
You have messed the US Mint up beyond recognition.
The gold proof looks stunning
I’ve never seen a human being whose forehead and nose bridge share the exact same angle.
Was going to buy, but the auction turned me off

None for you🙃
Read the press release. Only 230 of those coins will have the privy mark, and they'll be auctioned off via an as-yet-to-be described process.
They are making 230 gold privy that they will auction at some auction website for the rich losers
They talk about it at the usmint press release
The Gold Coin with privy looks great. You should be very proud of your work. Bravo!
Nice looking Proof. Wish the Premium was less than $500. Privy mark at 4:15.
The premium likely will be $965 or $1020 above the US Mint's weekly XAU.
Thank you Ventris 🎉
I'm happy to get one of the silver I just wish I got the privy one to show it to my son
Very beautiful coin. Well done.
the gold coin has a privy mark...that's amazing! thank you, US Mint~ 4:24

Beautiful coin.
This coin looks beautiful--excellent job. Always nice to see an actual visual as opposed to an artist's rendering.
cant wait to buy these
Stunning coin
Is the privy mark going to be on all the gold proof coins or only a select few ?
According to the press release, of the 17500 coins minted, only 230 will have it, and they'll be auctioned off (except whatever the US Mint keeps for itself).
How many of the gold coins will carry the 230 privy mark?
According to the press release, of the 17500 coins minted, only 230 will have it, and they'll be auctioned off (except whatever the US Mint keeps for itself).
230 will have privy
Director of the mint cool get to see her and the 2 great coins thank you 👍🏾🌵😎

Pretty Cool 😎
I hope some of the pivey gold 2024 end up in the purchase’s hand & all aren’t auctioned off 🙏🙏🙏🙏
It won’t happen. They’re actioning those off in December to the highest bidders.
Yeah and the money grab for the privy mark is unethical and unfair.
💛
When will pre orders start?
No pre-orders. You can try to buy 1 of the "regular" coins on Nov 14. Note that only 230 will have the privy mark, and they'll be auctioned off.
They don't do pre orders on gold just silver
Nice metal

Wow you really are just going to copy and paste lol your a joke
$3640 for the gold flowing hair 😅

@@oahuhawaii2141They will sell for 20k to 50k. Good luck with that.
Shame on the U.S.Mint.. the public gets no shot at the Privy Mark Gold Coins. Don't buy the regular gold ones guys!
Thank you Honarable Ventris Gibson for the excitement you have given me in the US mint.
Really? Are you planning on bidding on one?
She is not honarable

That's what Tyrion said while carrying a crossbow.
waste of money
