Yayyy thank you so much for watching and trying it out, Connie!! 🙏🏼 Great feedback and tip for those who prefer more sweet! Next time to achieve that, you can add 2-3 tbsp of powdered sugar to the whipped cream before folding it in 🤗
I'm making this today using this recipe, and I automatically added more sugar, because I grew up making banana pudding the southern way, and the sugar is key it gotta be sweet, when you add the whipped cream we must add more sugar due to that, because heavy cream by it's self is not sweet. I will also add some sugar to the whipped cream also, because that will thin out the sugar on the custard. I will be adding more bananas as well, because we just tossed them in there until the cookie layer is completely covered, and cover the bananas with the cookies until it's completely covered, but we must always make sure we have enough custard to cover everything. I am excited to try this today, because I love banana pudding!!
ALTERNATIVES FOR THE NILLA WAFERS: • tea biscuit cookies like Parle G • graham crackers • shortbread cookies • danish tea cookies • oreos • sheet cake (including red velvet) If you choose a substitute that's already soft such as the cake crumbles, you can chill the pudding in the fridge for less than 4 hours before serving.
@@natashapachisia1075 Oh yikes, I haven't made pudding without egg. This might sound odd but you can try mashing ripe banana into the flour/sugar/milk mix AFTER it has thickened on the double boiler. Use an immersion blender to get a smoooooth texture. Chill that pudding mix and then proceed with making whipped cream and folding it in. It'll be even more banana-y flavored! 😍

To ensure the best results follow the techniques for making a creme anglaise. The double boiler will take longer and you will mostly likely end up with lumps and curdled eggs yolks. So tempur your yolks. Also completely fold in the pudding into your whipped cream by hand. Finally the pan measurements are off use a pan half the size or double the recipe. Though I love magnolias nothing compares to the homemade version.
Hijabs and Aprons made it last night and try it this morning.. it’s so good.. not too sweet, I replaced the nilla biscuits with something else because couldn’t found one here.. btw i just followed you on IG 😍

Ummmm, what is this channel and where has it been all my life. Holy cow that looks amazing, both from a food perspective and from a video production perspective.
She did beautifully! This is the only way I make banana pudding the way my grandmother taught me from scratch. Minus the heavy and milk (we use both just not so much of it but it depends on each persons taste)! My only suggestion would be to add more wafers on the top! It depends on how you like your pudding. We add more wafers and banana because it gives it more flavor! Beautiful job ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much!! I actually agree, I should've crushed several more wafers for the topping/garnish. Good thing there were enough layered throughout which provided a good amount of crumbs all when serving! 😍
I got so caught up in the beautiful cinematograpy, lighting, and performance I forgot all about the recipe 😂😂😂 I *do* think this is something I could make...and devour 😋
Thanks for the video. For me, the egg yolk when put into the double heater setup forms small clumps that never go away. Maybe the temp is too high? Or I can filter it?
Try to add the milk very slowly, creating a paste at first and then adding more until it's all fully incorporated. But yes if it's already done and clumped, you can sift those clumps out!
Thank you so much for watching! Alternatives for the Nilla wafers are tea-biscuits or a crunchy cookie that would yield a crumbly texture after sitting in the pudding for a couple of hours. Let me know how it goes!
Thanks so much for watching and trying it out! Hm... my first guess is either the whipped cream was not whipped enough (it needs to be stiff) or when mixing the pudding into the whipped cream, perhaps you used the mixer instead of slowly folding it in. That step needs to be done very gently ☹️ I only used the mixer on low for about 3 seconds and then I had to switch to folding it by hand. This is because using a fast mixer/beater will undo all the hard work of beating the air into the whipped cream! I hope this helps!!
Thank you so much for watching!! I would love it if you made it! If you have the resources and are able to, try it out and let me know how it turns out 😊
I'm sorry, all purpose cream won't work. It actually won't hold it's form well, and the thick fluffiness will fall flat and be more runny than what you're going for with this pudding. Thank you so much for watching and asking! 🙏🏼💙 I hope you can find heavy whipping cream!
You can definitely do that! Some people simply like to prepare their food from scratch. Also, when you make it from scratch as in my recipe, though, soy milk works too. I've heard the instant pudding doesn't set as well with plant-based milks (I don't know why).
The pudding (pre mix) for maybe an hour, depends on the container you put it in to allow it to chill (I recommend a shallow and wide container). The mixed final pudding result?? At least 4 hours
I cannot wait to make this, then try a version with chocolate, oreos (or some type of chocolate biscuit), and strawberries. I love your serving size! 😂
I was definitely thinking about using Oreos instead of wafers recently. Pretty sure Magnolia has a cookies and cream/Oreo version too!! 😍 Lmk how it goes, and thank you for watching! 🤗
You can try mashing ripe banana into the flour/sugar/milk mix AFTER it has thickened on the double boiler. Use an immersion blender to get a smoooooth texture, then chill that pudding in the fridge while you proceed with making whipped cream. Then fold the whipped cream into the chilled pudding in. It'll be even more banana-y flavored! 😍
Thank you so much! You could try direct heat and temper the eggs but I think an ultra slow and gentle cook on the pudding (with the flour too) helps keep the texture smooth without having to over whisk. It's definitely a slow cook method but works like a charm!
Cinematography on this is top tier

This looks DELICIOUS!
This looks delish. Will try it soon. Btw which other biscuits / wafers can i use
Thank you so much for watching! Alternatives for the Nilla wafers are tea-biscuits or a crunchy cookie that would yield a crumbly texture after sitting in the pudding for a couple of hours. Let me know how it goes!
how many minutes the pudding needs to go into refrigerator before mixing it to whip cream?
It depends on the container you chill it in, but about an hour. Just make sure it's no longer warm. Cool to the touch, ideally
Hijabs and Aprons noted and thank u... 🙏
Wow. I just found your channel. It’s amazing, keep the good work❤️❤️
Thank you so very much!! 🙏🏼
This video is so beautiful! You have a real talent. 😍👍
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! 🙏🏼
Why don’t you have more subscribers? You’re amazing!
aww thank you so much, i really appreciate it!
I did it ! It was amazing !!! But the consistency was a little bit more runny even though I leaved it in the fridge over night .
Hijabs and Aprons thank you I will try it better next time
This was sooo pleasing to the eyes and ears. Can’t wait to try this recipe!
Thank you sooo much! I'd love to hear how it goes! 🤗
Lovely video🌻. Recipe looks delicious!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it 🤗
If we don't have Nilla biscuits, then what's the alternative?
Thank you for watching 🙏🏼 I have a pinned comment with some alternatives! Check it out!
Will the wafers stay crisp after chilling overnight or it will be soggy like cake texture?
They are meant to become crumbly and soft similar to cake. Mimicking Magnolia's!
Amazing video and recipe! keep going 🤍🤍🤍
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it 🙏🏼 and yes!! I will keep posting 🤗
It just amazing cinematic videography ❤❤ i saved it 😍
Thank you so much, I sincerely appreciate it! 🙏🏼
Falling in love with your video 😍 May I ask what's kind of flour you used? Should have high protein or low protein?
Thank you so much!! I used all-purpose flour. Somewhere in between (in terms of protein level) 🤗
Hijabs and Aprons thank you. I'm gonna try it. Hopefully, it will turn out as delicious as yours 😆
@@difarauswatunkhasanah3205 Yay!! Let me know how it goes 🤗
Please tell alternative for egg .Want to make this recipe
You can try mashing 1 small overripe banana and mixing it into the flour etc. with the milk! Hope this helps! Thank you for watching 🙏🏼
look delicious. want try tast
Thank you! That's kind of you 🙏🏼
I can't wait to try this ❤
Yay, let me know how it goes!!
Wowwww i want to try it now 😍😍😍 thank you i enjoyed every second of your video
Thank you so much for watching!! I would love it if you made it! If you have the resources and are able to, try it out and let me know how it turns out 😊
I high-key was mesmerized by the cinematography that I had to rewind for not picking up the measurements and ingredients haha
😂 thank you so very much! i'm so glad you enjoyed it that much 🤗
could this be adapted to be thicker like a pastry cream?
I can't taste this just by looking at it, yum
Thank you so much for watching!!🤗
can i use all purpose cream to substitute the heavy cream? will it be stiff? Thank you
I'm sorry, all purpose cream won't work. It actually won't hold it's form well, and the thick fluffiness will fall flat and be more runny than what you're going for with this pudding. Thank you so much for watching and asking! 🙏🏼💙 I hope you can find heavy whipping cream!
Just by a box of vanilla pudding it’s way easier and comes out great
You can definitely do that! Some people simply like to prepare their food from scratch. Also, when you make it from scratch as in my recipe, though, soy milk works too. I've heard the instant pudding doesn't set as well with plant-based milks (I don't know why).
How long do you have to leave the pudding in the fridge ?
The pudding (pre mix) for maybe an hour, depends on the container you put it in to allow it to chill (I recommend a shallow and wide container). The mixed final pudding result?? At least 4 hours
@@HijabsandAprons thanks for that quick response, I’m working on getting some ready for iftar! Super excited!!!
@@aliahmedsiddique you're welcome, and good luck! hope it turns out great inshaAllah
Im gonna do a #copycat of this!❤️❤️❤️ Looks yummy! 😋😋😋
Substitute for eggyolks?
You can try mashing ripe banana into the flour/sugar/milk mix AFTER it has thickened on the double boiler. Use an immersion blender to get a smoooooth texture, then chill that pudding in the fridge while you proceed with making whipped cream. Then fold the whipped cream into the chilled pudding in. It'll be even more banana-y flavored! 😍
Where can u get nilla wafers in dubai?
Maybe with caramelized bananas would be even better 🤤
Ohh that actually sounds really good! I was trying to mimic Magnolia Bakery's pudding, and they don't use caramelized bananas 🤗
Hi, your video is so greatt!!! Btw why do you use double boiler? Can i cook directly in the pot with low or medium heat by tempering the egg yolk?
Thank you so much!
You could try direct heat and temper the eggs but I think an ultra slow and gentle cook on the pudding (with the flour too) helps keep the texture smooth without having to over whisk. It's definitely a slow cook method but works like a charm!
@@HijabsandAprons Thank you for your response! Keep up the good work, cheers :)
Done this. Thanks...
Thanks for watching and trying it out!
