You don’t ever have to justify what you read, how many books you read, or how long you read for , I’ve fallen into that trap and it’s never good. You do you and read what you want, life’s far too short. I am a fast reader and spend a good 3-4 hours a day reading but I do audiobooks & don’t watch much tv, everybody is different. I agree that there is no wrong way to read. I plan to read Mary Beard in February. I have yet to read any of her books. Material World sounds fascinating so I will put that on hold at my library, as well as Autumn Journal. I still have about 250 pages left in History of the Russian Revolution and there is no way I'll finish it this month with all my other reading.

Yeah, I'm going to recommend Material World a lot I think. It also has a great further reading section.
