Who heard the man mumbling about Otterburn in his confession to the priest. It is highly unlikely especially in that era for a priest to break the seal of the confessional. and there isn't actually a way to reliably tell if someone's a virgin, although if this detail was a miscommunication between her and her mom (with her assuming that "interfered" referred to the being generally beaten up) then this would be irrelevant either way
REP:tilian Studios Whilst you’re 100% correct about there being no reliable medical way to determine virginity, I believe that the term “interfered with” is a legal term used in Great Britain that does specifically refer to sexual assault of girls and women. I’m not certain what the exact legal perimeters are in correct times, but historically it was a legal way of saying “rape.” That said, your initial statement is important enough to bear repeating, as even now there’s a rather shocking level of ignorance about this topic. So: there is NO reliable medical way to determine virginity...or lack thereof. (There are actually multiple published cases of women who have given birth having seemingly intact hymens!)
@@maneckineckbeard1749 "(There are actually multiple published cases of women who have given birth having seemingly intact hymens!)" Not just seemingly, but hymens are actually not initially "designed" to tear (as they don't break either), so that's not very surprising. That some hymens can tear is just an accidental thing that happens, mainly due to anatomical perks (hymens come in different shapes and sizes) and when too much physical force was used. But it's pretty normal for most women not to experience a tear in their whole life, which in older and more ignorant times and areas has created many problems (to the point where women had to use tricks to fake bleeding). Also: the hymen does heal if it was "hurt". So even if a woman may have had a tear and bled, after some time it becomes impossible to see. Then there are also cases of women born with very recessed or completely missing hymens too. So yeah, virginity is a made up thing.
Just when you think someone is well put together they could be hiding dark secrets..Be careful all..don't trust someone because they are"normal looking."
Jenjay I'm so glad this story being told now, my grandad was one of the policemen on this case for us this is part of our family history. Sadly my grandad died only a couple of years after this happened, and I never got to meet him. That car was still on the edge of the Moors in the 1960,s it gave me a lifelong interest in unsolved murders. My daughter now teaches criminology, and it all started with this tragic story x
Being 'interfered with' could mean anything from being groped over or under clothing, above or below the waist, to full-on rape. This one of the problems with euphemisms, especially back then when sex and even basic human biology was not talked about openly. I personally don't believe she would have made this up, especially when she was dying.
So...these two men find Evelyn (and they work for her dad) and she tells them aaalllllll about the man, and the bar, and the personal comment about her independence, his knowledge of automobiles, his height, the fire, etc..... aaallllll that detail comes from those men? Or did she speak to the police too before she died? My first thought is that the coworkers did it, the story is made up by them, and they burnt the car and assaulted her...for personal reasons, I'm sure. I don't think the "man" existed either. I would name him Roy DECOY :) Love the narrations ... btw!
She was interviewed by a constable as she lay dying in her bed, but very badly because her hysterical mother was in the room at the same time, which did not help . She died soon afterwards. Her dad's employees had nothing to do with it.

The only thing I can think of, if it did happen, was that it was as the law would describe a crime of passion. She said he did mention her seemingly independence and so may have felt she needed to be shown who was actually in charge. I don't think he planned for it to happen, since she didn't mention a weapon. Knowing how people were about women who made waves & the comment on her independence, I am willing to bet it would've been a great thing to look into any rival cabbies. Also any past relationships that ended over her independence. With her hearing the perpetrator discussing with 1 or 2 men who pulled up, it could've been a conspired attack to "put her in her place". Earlier it said she never had any issues despite being a female taxi driver alone on the road. It's not likely she would've retorted any incidents she had been able to handle or just random semesters remarks as being a problem for her. As far as yhe "sexual attack" goes, it could have been him attempting to force himself on her, touching her inappropriately, etc. & the fact that they dismissed it because there was no sign of penetration or obvious/typical things like that. If he had her pinned against the driver door, he likely had targeted her legs there 1st, so he could slide over to her, pun her in and control the vehicle. I hate that this wasn't handled well by those in charge. I think it would've been difficult but not impossible back then to find the culprit.
Love your channel. I’m new to it, so I’ve started at the beginning. My main critique is how choppy some parts are. If you haven’t already (I’m sure you have), focus on trying to do as few takes as possible. It’s noticeable. Other than that, love you! ^~^
I think people born after 1985 making comments here on life and attitudes in 1931 England have formed their ideas from movie and TV stereotypes. They need to read some social history, biographies and autobiographies, talk to older people, visit a museum. They may find it eye-opening.
I live in North Northumberland & the town of Ponteland is said Pon- tee- land or Pon-teel-nd Emphasis on the Tee or Teel Just for your reference. Dont worry about it though because everyone mispronounces many Northumbrian place names Most people not from this area call the place Pointy land So you did pretty well.
Does Kirsty Skye have her own True Crime channel?? I know this video is a few years old but her voice is so familiar, I subscribe to several true crime channels but I just can't place which one is hers
I drove a taxi and the one time I thought I was getting robbed I stopped the car in the middle of the street, I jumped out of the car and told the guy "If this going to happen its going to happen here" and I pulled out the tire iron I kept under the front seat (my layer explained the best thing you can keep under the seat is a tire iron and a road flare, both are not classified as weapons and both will stop a fight before it starts, imagine popping a road flare then asking if someone has a problem, I guarantee they will not.) Anyway, there I am tire iron in hand yelling at my passenger who i thought was about to rob me. The guy just runs away. Turns out he was a German tourist who barely spoke English which is where all the understanding came from.
News to me that Wolf's Nick was a business near Otterburn. I always thought it was a feature of the landscape, a cleft in the hills near Knowesgate, between Otterburn and Kirkwhelpington.

Only God, Evelyn and the mysterious man, if he truly existed, know the real truth. This is a enigmatic, intriguing, fascinating and strange case. That can be debated for decades. Regardless of the true circumstances I'm sorry to see anyone young or old lose their life. I can't help but feel sorry for her mother, father, family and friends. This unfortunate event would have caused them a great deal of mental anguish. Due to the mystery surrounding her untimely death.
All your accents are beautiful and you all did a great job presenting this video. Even the comments were a history lesson. So many family stories of personal tragedies. I'm an older woman from the US and I really dislike it when I hear americans talk about the first and second world wars like the US won them single handedly. We got there late while the UK and your allies had been fighting for years already and were prepared to fight to the last man. Your fighting forces don't get the credit and respect they deserve. You could create a channel from these family stories. I'd be your first subscriber.
The BBC or maybe ITV recreated this crime for a play . Watched it years ago , bizzarly my mind tells me that the actress Olivia Colman played the part , but that could just be my older forgetful brain . I have often tried to find it on UA-cam .
I love your videos. I Also love the you speak, what country are you from?
I think people born after 1985 making comments here on life and attitudes in 1931 England have formed their ideas from movie and TV stereotypes. They need to read some social history, biographies and autobiographies, talk to older people, visit a museum. They may find it eye-opening.
Greetings from Scotland 😊 love the videos. Enjoy your day
very good work and videos. Congratulations
I just luuuuuuuv your Accent and pleasant voice!!! I find myself hooked on......
DARK CURIOUSITIES!!😘😘😘
Love these collaborations! Especially this one with both being favourite true crimers!!!✊♥️

Good one. More please!
Love your channel love your accent...much love from South Africa
It was nice to put a face to the voice! Great show i so enjoy them!!!
I enjoyed this video and hope to see lots of videos from each of you.
I live in North Northumberland & the town of Ponteland is said
Pon- tee- land or Pon-teel-nd
Emphasis on the Tee or Teel
Just for your reference.
Dont worry about it though because everyone mispronounces many Northumbrian place names
Most people not from this area call the place Pointy land
So you did pretty well.
You have such a beautiful accent ☺️ thanks for the video!
Good seeing you ❤
I love your intro music ☺️ I'd love to get it on iTunes. Could you please let me know what it's called? Thanks
Nice to see you covered a case in my neck of the woods.
First video I've seen already hooked. Love your accent
Also love your pillows
Just found your channel and subbed.😊 Great vid.
just came upon your channel very good.
I thought your hair would be a bit longer. Beside that, your narration voice has me gripping to every word you speak and I enjoy it very much.
You are seeing Kirsty Skye. I'm not showing my face in the video, it's just my narration.
Does Kirsty Skye have her own True Crime channel?? I know this video is a few years old but her voice is so familiar, I subscribe to several true crime channels but I just can't place which one is hers
Kirsten, it's great to out a face to your voice! I LOVE your accent, and your narration skills are beyond excellent. And pretty, too!😊😊😊
Oops, I get it now. You BOTH have amazing voices and accents!
Awww I love the face reveal. You are a beautiful person inside and out. Thank you for your work ❤
Thank you, but she is Daughter of Remus, not me :)
Beautiful lady beautiful voice. Love your accent. One of my favorite channels.
News to me that Wolf's Nick was a business near Otterburn. I always thought it was a feature of the landscape, a cleft in the hills near Knowesgate, between Otterburn and Kirkwhelpington.
I've got the same doggie duvet set as you! 😃
Great vid and channel 👍
I was just wishing I had such a set and then read your comment. Similar coincidences have been happening lately inn much the same manner. Mmm. Wonder what's going on. 🤔😯😊🧘♀️🔮⁉️
Love it whenever I receive notifications from DC.
This one is new to me
My grandad was a policeman on this case.
Only God, Evelyn and the mysterious man, if he truly existed, know the real truth.
This is a enigmatic, intriguing, fascinating and strange case.
That can be debated for decades.
Just like Mona Lisa's mysterious smile and the way the paintings eyes follow you. Bringing fourth a myriad of emotions.
Regardless of the true circumstances
I'm sorry to see anyone young or old lose their life.
I can't help but feel sorry for her mother, father, family and friends.
This unfortunate event would have caused them a great deal of mental anguish.
Due to the mystery surrounding her
untimely death.
Finally stories I haven't heard yet
It's out there somewhere . If anyone can find it I would appreciate being sent a link .
Finally the face behind the hypnotic narratives!
I love you for filming yourself in this video. You’re beautiful.
Kirsty Skye? Ok whoever it is you’re beautiful 😂👍🏼
Thank you from Russia, live you Dark Curiosities.
Quite a strange story. Very well done. The pain and suffering this poor woman endured -- dreadful! (As per previous comments -- your beautiful blue eyes are ridiculous! You both have exquisite diction and beautiful dialects, which made this story even more compelling.
You speak with a delightful accent. Where is it from Scottish?
robert braun sounds more Irish but I could be wrong
@@imafemale4365 She's Scottish
Wait right there! You cannot “determine virginity” ...so....go on...
