    Apetece was a new word for me. I did some research and appetite comes to us from old English via old French, via vulgar Latin from classical Latin.
    I think I will start showing off my sophistication by using appetite for uses not referring to food. The original meaning in ancient Latin was desire for, and it still means this but people mostly use it these days to talk about food.
    For example I could say I have no appetite for watching the news about the recent hurricane in Florida.
    Learning language helps in so many ways.
    Thanks as always for these great lessons.

      Well done, Eric. You are another man interested in the derivation of words into our tongue.

    'Que' frequently triggers the subjunctive in the second clause. Why not here?

    Viajar en un scooter electrico es mas peligroso de lo que parece.
    Estudiar un idioma en la vejez es mas facil de lo que creia. (Accents needed on three of those last six words). Necesitas una mente bastante despejada; eso es todo.

    This is a great way to learn but I can’t get past his pronunciation of the c as a th. Drives me nuts. What country pronounces like that?

    • @tatuajado
      @tatuajado 2 роки тому +1

      Castellano speakers (in parts of Spain / Catalán) pronounce the “s” as a “th”. Another distinctive variation occurs in Argentina, where the strong “y” sound (as in “yo”) is pronounced with a “sh” or “zh” sound as opposed to an “ee” sound. So saying “yo soy ___” would instead be pronounced “zho soy ___”. When I got really into the Argentinian band Los Espíritus for a moment, I started subconsciously speaking Spanish with a slight Argentinian accent, leading many, many native Spanish speakers to perplexingly ask me mid-conversation where I was from. It can happen to anyone!

      Just stay away from those lessons from the few places where they speak that way. Don’t let it ruin your Spanish learning.
