    I didn't see you address the distance from the subject to the green screen. The greater the distance the lessening of the shadows cast, hence easier extraction.

    So you used the brush tool with white for the foreground color to fine tune those green edges??

    • @iPhotographyCo
      @iPhotographyCo  4 роки тому

      When you 'Paste into' the selection Photoshop creates a mask so you can use that to paint (with white foreground colour) and refine any edges you didn't get with the magic wand tool :-)

    I'm sure you can use the selection tool to select your object without the need of a green screen, the green screen makes it easier to select the object but it's not unachievable if you dont have a green screen esp with photography.

      I taught myself how to use photoshop about 15 years ago and if I remember correctly there is a lasso tool you can use to cut out the subject, with the right amount of feathering you can definitely do it without a green screen and still make it look clean.

    Do green background/backdrops work better for photoroom app which is a white backround changing app. Anybody know?

    • @iPhotographyCo
      @iPhotographyCo  3 роки тому

      they probably give you more control to use a backdrop for greenscreen. With apps, you're left at the mercy of the algorithm and sometimes it's hard to make adjustments if it doesn't give you the best cut out :-)

    • @iPhotographyCo
      @iPhotographyCo  4 роки тому +2

      Yes thats right! Basically you're looking to use colours that don't appear in your subject/outfit. So with browns, creams and greens then think about using blues or even a solid red background :-)

      Follow the directions.
      1. Make your selection using the magic wand tool.
      2. Make a 'copy' of your new background
      3. Return to your original image, make it active
      4. Use 'Paste Into' and PS will insert your new background in to the selected area :-)
      Hope that helps! :-)

    • @iPhotographyCo
      @iPhotographyCo  3 роки тому

      There are a number of ways to remove backgrounds around hair but providing your subject doesn't have messy hair then using the magic wand tool on the green/blue background it should select enough to make the distinction between hair and background clear to cut out. You can always use 'refine selection' in Photoshop to make further adjustments, or use a layer mask and mask out the background really slowly. It depends how much time/patience you have :-)
