Great top 19 list and honourable mention, I love Stewart Francis to bad he is retired now, emo Philips is underrated because I love the character he plays and Steven wright deserves to be number one he is so good great video keep up the awesome work
This is a really good list. I agree with all of it, although there are a couple I've not seen before. Good to see Emo Phillips get a mention. He was very popular when I was a kid, but you don't hear much about him, unlike Steven Wright and Mitch Hedberg. One thing about the top 3 is that I have a joke for each of them that I heard 20+ years ago and for some reason it stuck: Emo Phillips: "Dad, do we have to visit grandpa again?" "Son, shut up and keep digging." (this is the earliest joke I can remember - I must have been about 9 years old) Mitch Hedberg: "Escalators do not break, they just become stairs." Steven Wright: "I went into the General Store, and they wouldn't let me buy anything specific."
As the count down progressed I kept thinking that these guys are doing Steven Wright stuff - then came the master - good list and you nailed the #1 spot.
Steven Wright....."It's a small world, but I'd sure hate to paint it!" "Got home, accidentally put my car key in the front door, and my house started up. So I drove it around awhile and went out and yelled at everyone you get out of my driveway!"
Great list. Personal choices. Interesting. Nice presentation. Nothing you say kills any humor. Just a phrase some people write. Sad souls that never made anything smile.
Fun fact: Rodney Dangerfield's "no respect" routine was inspired when he saw The Godfather. It got him thinking about the inverse experience when he noted that other characters did favors for Don Corleone out of profound respect.
Who cares where the guy was born and most of these guys are not funny and you had one of the greatest one liners Rodney Dangerfield and you pick some of his lamer jokes you sound like you come from some country that produces people who are anal
I was sceptical with the video title but you had a great selection, thanks. Good luck with your own comedy career, hopefully we'll see you in a top ten list in the future!
Those ultrasonic deer whistles came out when I lived in West Virginia and there were tons of deer. The Monongahela Power company mounted them on all their trucks and expected no more deer collisions could happen. Wrong. In filling out the company report as to why they hit the deer, the driver filled the box with: "I was run into by a deaf deer.
I listened, waiting to see if you would mention the one-line comedians I thought of. Happy to say that only one I thought would make it , did not. That's Don Rickles. Then I realized maybe he wasn't one-liner as much as just a put down comic. Anyway, I waited from the start to see if you would have Steven Wright!! And he was number 1!! The guy is genius. I was also very happy and surprised you had Hedberg in there at all, let alone at number 2!! Very good list sir! I also found a few I've never heard of that I will DEFINITELY be looking up
Mitch Hedburg was awesome! My favorite line from Steven Wright was" I went to my mechanic and he said, I couldn't fix your brakes... so I made your horn louder."
I may not agree with all your choices, but Steven Wright is _brilliant_ . Rodney Dangerfield classic: "My wife likes to talk after sex. The other day she called me from a motel room." Or: "I grew up in a really tough neighborhood. You couldn't close a window without breaking someone's fingers."
It's great that our host is so good on giving us all, the exact date of birth of all our favourites, this is so often missing from clips of other people's funny acts. However it's a very varied list from lots of arenas
Very good list. Some people are complaining about the introductions but I think they are just perfect. There are already lots of compilations but your video gave also some information. Good luck with your career.
For those criticising, I think this was aimed more at other comedians who are interested in comedy from a technical perspective than just for people wanting a bunch of jokes
you did a great job with your video! i love one-liners, and these comedians all ROCK, but i think Emo Phillips is my favorite!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!
My favourite Steven Wright joke ... 'The other day I bought an occasional table ... I don't know what it is the rest of the time' BTW I've never heard of Mitch Hedberg until watching him here. What a great talent. RIP Sir
Mitch Hedberg was my favorite. Google a couple of his jokes. (The one about his neighbor pounding on his wall because he's playing his music too loud and he answers "Go around!" The other one which is pure genius is this one... ua-cam.com/video/UUNvFVQYClY/v-deo.html
The best thing about this is his commentary. He has the passion and enthusiasm to curate these clips for your viewing pleasure. Take a moment to appreciate that I stead of being such a narcissistic ass hole.
Seems mostly very connected to specific cultures. Most of the British guys (all men) told jokes based on language. My favorite is Rodney Dangerfield--he’s into a type of absurdity. Also, Stewart Francis. He’s into language absurdity.
Superb, informative video and great choices. I'd have put Tim Vine in the Top Ten, but overall your inclusions match mine. My favourite Steven Wright line: 'It's a small world. But I wouldn't wanna paint it...'
What an excellent and polished production. I appreciate the DOB. My favorite comedy genre is one-liners, but my favorite comic is Norm Macdonald. Go figure. THE MOTH.
Youngman, Dangerfield, & Wright are the only three I know the others I have never heard of. You said you like these Comics for diffrent reasons. Well we'll see if and where on your list Steven Wright shows up. I agree with # 1 somewhere on you tube has Steven doing a oneliner every 10 seconds for like 15 minutes no two the same. Something crazy. Thank you for posting.
This announcer is like the school librarian introducing the school band playing Bohemian Rhapsody. You want to get into it but just can't bring yourself to headbang.
Lots of comments here suggest many other fine names. I'd like to add Johnny Carson, who consistently delivered great nightly monologues which consisted mainly of one- and two-liners.
I'm a pretty massive fan of one-liner comedians. Thanks for this list I didn't know about that Ganju guy. Love to learn of talent I haven't seen before - that rock-climbing joke was great with the RIP tag. I refuse to get into arguments about the order, or who you have missed. It's your list - make it however you like! But I do agree with the Groucho Marx comment. If you haven't watched him, you should definitely look him up. He was the gold standard of one-liners and quick wit for decades.
Not impressed...I have no idea why the presenter thought we needed to know the birth date and place of each person. Emo Philips at number 3 didn't tell a single one liner joke...
Hi my friend, I really enjoyed that and have taken down some of there names to look into on UA-cam, I'm from the UK and GARY at number 15 thats harsh 😊, anyway it's a good way to spend half an hour, stay safe mate 🍻🙏
Henny Youngman is number one. He was the Mozart of one liners. Unlike Mozart, we are fortunate to have video of him working. His live performances were amazing. As they say, you had to be there.
Great list. Usually list like this aren’t very good, but Stephen Wright, Demetri Martin and Mitch Hedberg all deserve to be in the top five, so you nailed it. Hedberg had a long-term drug addiction including to heroin. Nobody starts off with heroin. They all start off with getting drunk or smoking pot, and all of them think they won’t get addicted and start doing other harder drugs and ruin their lives.m. Thus people who are thinking of getting drunk or smoking grass might consider being humble and realizing there’s a decent chance it will happen to them too, And avoid doing it in the first place. It has happened to lots of good people and lots of smart people and lots of people who are both good and smart. Hedberg was a good person and also super smart. Starting down the path of getting drunk or baked killed him. I’m not saying don’t have a beer or two, but getting drunk easily becomes an addiction sooner or later and then often peoples judgment goes out the window and they do the harder stuff. Also, alcoholism in and of itself ruins tons of lives and kills lots of people.
ALL these guys are great, I love Mitch Hedburg, Dimitri Martin, Steven Wright, (I’d have also chosen Norm McDonald) but I REALLY think you’ve got to put Henny Youngman & Rodney Dangerfield at the #1 & 2 spots). All your choices are really great though! 👏🏼😎
0:37 Loriot (a German comedian) begs to differ. His elaborate sketches often avoid any one-liners. Instead, they pile absurdity upon embarrassment upon quirkiness until nothing is left. Yes, there are memorable quotes from Loriot sketches, but you have to know the whole sketch to find them funny.
I agree about Steven Wright - a complete genius at word play, delivery. Gary Delaney/Tim Vine/Milton Jones (my personal fave along with Steven Wright)/Rodney Dangerfield (a legend) - must be in top 5 or so. Chris Turner - not seen him much but his one liners are brilliant Jimmy Carr - he's funny but not really a one-liner comedian Emo Philips - I think he's brilliant, very edgy, but he's an ocassional one-liner Jay London/Anthony Jeselnik/Demetri Martin/Mitch Hedberg - didn't find them funny at all. Where is Ken Dodd - if there was ever a master of one-liners it's Ken. He'd do a 1-2 hour set and then do an extra 2 hours! His memory defied belief. He once told 1500 jokes in 3.5 hours! Don't need the birthdates/birth places - we can google those. A one-liner from you to say why you like them is enough.
Good choices for #1 and #2. I would have placed Henny Youngman and Rodney Dangerfield higher, but I'm glad they're on the list. Good luck with your career, Andrei.
I would put Delaney higher too, above Jimmy Carr for sure, but there's a hefty dose of presentism to both Delaney and Carr so I don't think they deserve to be high on the list. Tim Vine I have more respect for, even though I never found him to be funnier than Delaney/Carr - it's more for his delivery and ability to keep the momentum going.
Great top 19 list and honourable mention, I love Stewart Francis to bad he is retired now, emo Philips is underrated because I love the character he plays and Steven wright deserves to be number one he is so good great video keep up the awesome work
So many of these comics make you feel smart for getting the joke, but Youngman and Dangerfield make me laugh out loud.
Thank you Andrei. Great list. Now I want to see your work.
thank you!
My wife and I saw Rodney years ago in Vegas. It was non stop laughter. The man was brilliant.
Rodney should definitely be higher

Emo joke. If ever there was a Far Side cartoon...
As the count down progressed I kept thinking that these guys are doing Steven Wright stuff - then came the master - good list and you nailed the #1 spot.
Steven Wright....."It's a small world, but I'd sure hate to paint it!"
"Got home, accidentally put my car key in the front door, and my house started up. So I drove it around awhile and went out and yelled at everyone you get out of my driveway!"
Great list! I was holding thumbs for Steven Wright all the way ‘cos he’s genius in his thinking. And he stands there doing true one liners!
Where is Don Rickles the king?
Rodney Dangerfield was using the "I get no respect" routine in 1969 and earlier... Godfather debut was 1972. Don't just make sh*t up.
Agreed with Steven Wright placement!
Steven Wright:
“You can't have everything. Where would you put it?”
hilarious. I didn't even listen to the jokes, you had me rolling on the floor with number 15. You are now my favourite comedian
"Everywhere is within walking distance ... if you have the time." ~ Steven Wright
Stopped in a restaurant that said “breakfast served anytime”. So I ordered Bacon & Eggs during the Middle Ages
Not for you it isn't. Looks like you get a taxi to the chippy and back!
Haww!
Great list, and I don’t even have any issue with the order. Steven Wright is a legend.
what so funny about Ipswich Serial Killer
Enjoyed this , there’s a few I hadn’t heard of 👍
Great collection. Really appreciate 15 through 11. Thank yo for the compilation.
Glad to see Mitch Hedberg made it high on the list. My daughter and I really shared a love of his humor. 💕🐝💕
One of my favorites too.

Wrong. In filling out the company report as to why they hit the deer, the driver filled the box with: "I was run into by a deaf deer.

Super video. Henny did as you say, lead the way, to be followed by the king Rodney. Oh, and good luck yourself. 🏴🇬🇧

Nice work mate, I like your intro's and throughly enjoyed the humour. Please keep them coming!
When 15 is Gary Delaney and 14 is Tim Vine it made me thing there must be 13 awesome comedians coming up!
But they weren't except a few....
Same here. Along with Jimmy Carr, they should be Top5
