Thank you! My 2 and a half year old is obsessed with 1st grade addition/subtraction and I'm looking for tips and tricks to help him continue to learn. These are some great suggestions. Thanks!
During this pandemic I help home school our 1st grade granddaughter and this makes me so excited for my day tomorrow with her! I've been using 10 frames, number lines and number bonds for teaching addition and it has worked really well. Having these games will add on to the fun. And yes, giving different strategies so kids can find the one that works best for them is awesome. As a former 8th grade science teacher, your sessions have been so helpful! Elementary teachers have the hardest job and you have helped me so much! Thank you!
Thank you for always sharing your ideas, tricks, and tips. We are just starting subtraction and we also found we need to expose them to vertical and horizontal formats. I love that you include both formats in your games and activities. My team also teaches them to draw and cross out (the concrete version of build and remove) I will be sharing this video with my team. I have 2 brand new teachers on my team (of 3) so they can watch it as well. THANK YOU for always sharing freebies! You are my go to teacher on you tube that I watch when I need ideas for reading, literacy, writing, and math ideas.
Thank you for sharing this! My child seems to like addition and tends to add things instead of subtraction whil I am teaching her. Integrating games to learn is really cool. I think I would prefer the 1st one, build and remove but I want to try the dice game. Maybe she will like it. She will have an exam tomorrow for place values and she is already good at it, so far its the subtraction that she is struggling. Thank you again!
