The reason why no one wants to elaborate is because it's way too much work. There are way too many things you have to consider such as the talisman you're having and the set possibilities you have. Not having the right talisman for a specific skillset can render one weapon worse than the other and going through all possible options for all monsters would be more work than it's worth. Long story short, you can't always expect easy solutions for complex questions. However, one fairly simple solution I can offer to you is to check out the speedrun section of the japanese wiki where various records for different quests are listed for almost every weapon type and see what setup speedrunners have used for the set. That is, if you're willing to go the extra mile and translate/figure out what's written there since it's all japanese: www65.atwiki.jp/mhxtawiki

+Selk Knight of the Shadows zinogre in 4U didnt even have combos. While zinogre in portable 3rd had the same combos as stygian from 4u. Didn't had any troubles with him in p3rd but you should really play P3rd and you'll see what I mean. Or watch some gameplays.
