Stunning film of Ben Nevis tourist path walk in April by drone

  • The view from the top of the tallest mountain in the UK is incredible! Going up the tourist path to the summit, I take you on the journey from the Ben Nevis in, up the pony track to Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe before crossing the waterfall and giving my feet a good soaking.
Onward to the peak, the path switches back until a plateau at the top which was covered in snow remaining from the winter thaw which is usually here in April.
Overall the hike was around 7 hours and is the first hike I ever did as well as being one of the best hikes in the country with incredible views.
There are many routes heading up to the Ben Nevis summit, but the pony track is the easy one which most tourists walk along on their way up, but it's definitely still a solid hike.
I made this film as a memory to my previous Ben Nevis youtube video which I made a few years ago, now it's 2019 and I've really learned a lot since then so it's been amazing to make a new video with what I know now.
    Thanks for watching!

I have walked up and down that track when i was 12 in 1964 with my father !!
It was hard walking up but just as hard walking down as your legs shake with your weight and effort !!

Me my brother and father did it with just coats trainers and a couple bits of choc and a sandwich, couldn't make it right to the top because of snow but I know exactly what you mean, it's hard going but satisfying

Beautiful work! I'm digging the balance of the varied shots, drone footage, dialogue and music. Having that lake to yourself must've been incredibly peaceful.

Thanks very much! I do indeed try to get that balance and I’m glad you enjoyed it. Haha there were a couple of tents beside me, but yeah was amazing. Not many people venture off into the bog to see the loch.

Yours must be the first video I've seen describing it as a walk and not a climb, bravo. I hike and climb and it's a pet peeve of mine to know the difference.

Going down on Ben Nevis was harder in my opinion, the way you have to slow yourself down all the time is kind of tiring! On the other side, it goes way faster and gravity saves you energy.. Anyhow, I didn't reach summit first time but once I get the oppertunity to go back, I will top it! Love the vid!

Oh, man! Can you imagine being 1345 meters above sea level? This is indeed a unique experience. It must be the ultimate hill. (Sorry we call Ben Nevis a hill in Turkey) :)

We can of course take an age making the films Russ but it's that symbiotic relationship we have with camera and subject we enjoy. Hey fist time I've seen your good friend. Nice to see you both summit there. Mark

Like the video mate, subscribed to your channel about a month ago & really enjoy ya videos, very inspirational & useful. I’ve noticed your rocking the lone peak 4.0’s was looking to buy some of these & I find it really funny that you purchased some, is there any chance u can do a gear review on them. Also are they true to size as I ’m a size 11uk, do you recommend I get a size 11 or 11 1\2? Either way will be making a purchase very soon.

Thanks Carl! Glad you’re enjoying the videos. I got a size up at first to be sure and it was too big. Unlike New Balance which do go a size up. Which is weird! So yeah just get your normal size for the Altra Lone Peak 4.0s. But then everybody’s different. 👍

Once you’re at the top of Ben Nevis. You can rest at the summit. Going down is much easier. Use trekking poles to take the effort off your knees going down. Good luck!!
