    8:20 you talk about using gravity assists to save fuel, and here I am spending 250,000 m/s to get myself on a trajectory to Jool and then another 250,000 m/s to slow down at Jool 3 weeks later (Kerbal time) courtesy of the “Frisbee” antimatter torch drive

    • @boguekerbal
      @boguekerbal  6 місяців тому +1

      That sounds legendary. I am planning on getting to the Far Future parts mod when I go to the local black hole planets in this mod. Which engine do you think I should use for a one way trip to all 4 planets, but keeping the tech on the closer side of timeline ( like fusion might come sooner than antimatter if that makes sense) Which one will do the trick delta V wise, but is closest to tech achievability timeline wise if that makes sense? I am going to be watching your tutorial on the far future engines again!

    • @Javelyn_Shadow
      @Javelyn_Shadow 6 місяців тому +1

      @@boguekerbal I think that as long as you have a minimum of 200km/s of delta v you can get to the inner planets orbiting Kcalbeloh. Its orbital velocity is roughly 250,000 m/s and therefore you don’t get a lot of time to capture around the planets. I’d definitely recommend using the Z-pinch fusion engine with a bit of hydrogen to fuel the afterburner, although the 5m Nuclear Salt Water Rocket Engine should serve you well as you can get up to 1 million m/s of delta v while having almost as much thrust as a Mammoth engine. There are actually a lot of options that work, but some of the entry level engines might require gravity assists or staging in order to get there

    • @boguekerbal

      @@Javelyn_Shadow Ok that's awesome, I will start working on figuring those engines out! Thanks Javelyn!

      @@boguekerbal avoid stuff like the 2.5m fission fragment engine (the larger 3.75m one can work just fine) the magneto-inertial fusion engine and the “discovery” spherical tokamak fusion engine which can’t have the required delta v because you can’t put enough fuel on the rocket for them to work

    • @boguekerbal
      @boguekerbal  6 місяців тому

      @@Javelyn_Shadow Ok nice! I have been messing around with it the past couple hours and I will avoid those. I also have noticed that If my craft is getting past like 140,000 m/s dV it sets back to zero beyond that. I'm assuming this might be because of the game not handling that high of numbers, and people use Kerbal Engineer readout for their torch ships cus the numbers are so high that's the better way to read them. Does that sound right? Should I get Kerbal Engineer Readout too?

    Stockalike Station Parts Expansion Redux is (to me) an essential mod for building all kinds of spacecraft and space stations (I find that the 2.5m airlock is really useful for large spaceplanes to add docking capabilities and providing an obvious EVA hatch) as well as adding a good set of random modules for improving your spacecraft

    Thanks for another video! Actually if you could do a video on the gravity assists you use regularly that would be really helpful. Most other people making videos in OPM or Kcalbeloh use a crazy number of gravity assists and bounce around a lot with them. Looks cool but it makes their videos hard to follow. I really appreciate that you always talk about the ones you use in your videos when they come up and clearly explain why you're using them. Thank you and fly safe!

    one thing i find useful with this space station parts mod and kerbal planetary base systems is they both have a lot of built-in compatibility with other mods that add new systems. for instance, both have food growing and life support system parts for use with life support mods, and KPBS also includes a cryogenics part for use with DeepFreeze that fits in-line with its base parts.

    Holy shit this video is swag, I thought I'd never find good up-to-date OPM videos! AND KCALBELOH TOO FUCK YEA
    would love to see the gravity assist video!
    Also if youre interested in having even more vanilla-style planet expansion in your vanilla-style planet expansion, the Minor Planets Extension add-on mod for OPM is pretty cool, adding analogues for asteroids like Vesta, Psyche, Ida, and dwarf planets like Haumea, Makemake, Eris, and Sedna, and a couple comets too!

      Bro thanks!!! I'm glad I'm filling in a needed space in KSP! I will start making the gravity assist video, look out in a couple weeks as I have a few in the pipeline already. Got lots of stuff coming up!
      And yeah, I recently checked out Minor Planets expansion and it's actually soo awesome. Perfect for OPM and my set up. My plan is after my Kcalbeloh series is finished in a few months, I plan on making a series focused on OPM & Minor Planets!! the Eris & Sedna analogues are crazyyy. especially the Eris one. I'm actually looking forward to making the Minor Planets series more than the OPM because I haven't explored it myself yet. I feel like I should do OPM series first & then Minor Planets series for clarity, but let me know if you think I should do em in the same series concurrently or if MPE is like a sequel series to my OPM series. Thanks for your support!

    • @thewanderers97
      @thewanderers97 6 місяців тому +2

      @@boguekerbal The dedicated OPM and MPE series sound awesome! Personally, I'd run them concurrently because of the Dresteroid belt objects and a couple others floating around within the bounds of Sarnus orbit making it feel a little weird to jump back to the dresteroid belt after going all the way to Plock, but honestly as long as OPM is installed alongside MPE regardless, you could go either way with splitting the series or running them as one.

    Would be nice if you showed how to install it and get it working with the latest version of KSP as CKAN won't allow me to install this mod...

    • @boguekerbal
      @boguekerbal  5 місяців тому

      In CKAN a lot of the time after KSP's final update, they just put like a decimal repeating after the mod version number to kinda like show that its like the last version or whatever but then CKAN doesn't recognize it immediately as being compatible for some reason. IDK why they do this, but you can still click on the mod & iit has a tab called versions or something & you can click on the most up to date version of the mod and still click install in a side window. You'll get a warning that it may not be compatible if you install but if your KSP is fully updated and the mod is like at or past compatibility you should be good to install it - I've had the same problem but its always worked for me. I'll make a video soon, but maybe try again using what I told you & if you need me to get more specific just reply again & I can probably help you out.

    what are the of the planetary mods in this video this is the first video I've seen by you and had no idea there where wormhole in KSP what adds the wormhole and the planets on the other side and are there other similar mods you use?

    • @boguekerbal
      @boguekerbal  6 місяців тому

      The wormhole is placed by a mod called Kcalbeloh system, which adds new star systems to the game and a wormhole that connects the stock system to the new ones. The wormhole will orbit Jool, or Sarnus, the Saturn analogue planet that is added by Outer Planets mod, Which adds Saturn, uranus, Neptune, & Pluto analogues to the stock system. Kcalbeloh will place the wormhole around Jool unless you have OPM installed, in which case it will place it orbiting sarnus as you see in this video. I have lots of videos on my channel exploring these spots you should check it out!

  • @alex_itto
    @alex_itto 6 місяців тому +1

    So if you jump in that wormhole, will it transfer your craft to other system?

    • @boguekerbal
      @boguekerbal  6 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, if you pass below 30,000 meters you will enter the wormhole to end up in the Kcalbeloh system on the other side. This wormhole is placed by a planet pack mod called Kcalbeloh system that adds some new star systems to the game & places a wormhole around Jool or OPM Sarnus (depending on which you have installed). I've been doing my series on stock part missions through the wormhole. Hope you check it out! Going through it looks reallyyy cool.
