    The house at 97 Andrássy utca is where Zsa Zsa Gábor grew up.

    Discovered this gem of a channel 4 months back when I moved to Budapest with my family from India. One of the most fun and informative channels in UA-cam. Sending all the good vibes in the world 😊

    Heroes Square has to be my favorite spot in Budapest. The monuments are so dramatic. It is so cool that Andrassy Avenue culminates in this magnificent square. Thank you for the video, Stuffed Cabbage Adventures.

    Best guide ever. Just followed this guide and did a pretty amazing walk. Totally worth for my only weekend stay in Budapest. Sadly Epreskert and the house of horror are all closed yesterday. The subway stations are beautiful. And took me a while to find the alley to take the picture of Bazilika…

      Thanks! Glad to hear you could get a lot out of the Andrássy út, it's often not explored enough by visitors :) Sad to hear the Epreskert was not open this time, I guess in cold weather they aren't open for visits. Hope you are having a great time in Budapest! :)

    Thank you, great video, My favourite avenue in Budapest, the Museum of Terror is excellent and thought-provoking and a must-see. I enjoy the Művész Kávéház, they have great Dobos Torta and a wonderful view of the Opera House.

    Thanks for suggesting Andrassy Avenue. We travelled underneath it on the Metro and now want to see it at street level. I have general question about Danube sightseeing river cruises. There are so many options to consider - day or evening, drinks or dinners, some have entertainment or live music, and some are cheap and some are fairly expensive. Do you have any thoughts or recommendations? I couldn't find any of your videos about river cruises. Perhaps this could be subject of a future video. Thanks you so much.

      River cruises are a common topic for visitors, will surely see how we can show those on video 😊 for me personally I like to explore places at my own pace, which is why I usually avoid hop on and off buses or river cruises, but I am also curious if the experience is worth it, so in the future there may be a video about those 😊

    Peanut butter and banana croissant? Is peanut butter widely available in Hungary? Just wondering if we need to bring our own!

      It certainly gained more popularity and availability in recent years. It's easy to find even in convenience stores like Lidl or Aldi. Though the variety isn't that huge and I am no expert on the quality 😊

    I was doing some research and found that the London subway was powered by steam. So Budapest’s subway was the first one powered by electricity! You can now say the first European electricity powered subway. 😊

    Every time I am in BP I see the improvements, the restorations and renovations since the past decades, the city gets more beautiful every time I visit. From my youngest years I remember Andrássy út (under communist regime called Népköztársaság utja) as a car sewer (and regrettably it still is), buildings delapidated and black from soot and exhaust fumes (even the Opera was entirely black) and the air hardly breathable. Not a desirable place to be in those days at all, but look at it now! It shows that cities can make enormous improvements if they really want to. I do think though that BP should make serious work of traffic calming in the city and go for directing traffic around the city instead of through it (the channel of "Not just bikes" has excellent examples about this topic and urban planning, I'm a fan not an affiliated). If it were only local traffic it would be enough already! And BP has such an amazing transit system (even if it is still recovering from what it once was, but improving and extending all the time); replace the through traffic for (even more) transit and everybody will become happier (and healthier). I looked at a number of plans/wishes from BKK today and as an urban developer, I can only agree. Előre!
    There're always lots of things to improve upon in city design (and complain about, that's my Dutch blood) but today I can go sit comfortably on a terrace on Andrássy út and feel happy and at ease ... But my head never stops, we could make it so much better; dreams, dreams, dreams ...

    How do you feel about Nepshnihaz utca and the area around Blaha Luzha Ter right now in 2024?

    • @StuffedCabbageAdventures
      @StuffedCabbageAdventures  5 місяців тому +1

      Hey there! I feel that the area has improved over the last few years thanks to Blaha Lujza ter and the old Corvin department store being renovated. Even the streets and parks closeby along Nepszinhaz utca received a face lift and it's a more pleasant area these days than it used to be. Needless to say that fixing up the streets and squares will not immediately fix the underlying social problems, so it's still easy to run into dodgy folk, but its more rare. I used to visit a friend of mine who lived in a flat in Nepszinhaz street and back in those times (like 10 years ago) I always had to mind my surroundings, today I don't feel it that tense. But that's just my opinion based on a few occasions I cross that area, I guess someone who lives closeby and frequents the area may have a different or more detailed opinion.

      @@StuffedCabbageAdventures I'm also coming for the Athletics World Championships next month and will be staying at the Hotel Moments on Andrassy Ave after watching this video. Thank you for all the videos. They're so informative and fun because you don't take yourself too seriously. I'm almost done watching everything you have on Budapest. It's like cramming for an exam. 😂
