Avi helped Kevin with singing and projecting his voice when they were roommates back when the group first moved to Los Angeles. Kevin has Perfect pitch so the group usually tunes to his pitch and tempo. Kevin really shines in PTX's version of "O Come All Ye Faithful" that is a tribute to his parents from Africa. It is with Avi so a few years ago but well worth the time to listen.

Kevin is definitely a Renaissance man - beatboxer, tenor, plays cello, sax, drums, keyboard, graduate of Yale, spent 18 months in China and speaks excellent Mandarin, writes and/or arranges some of their songs, lastly and most important (to Kevin) husband of Leigh and father of Kaia.
I think Kevin Olusola may be one of the Most talented people on the planet, a truly amazing human being. And that's saying something because I love them all.
Kevin has a part in "imagine", it's an amazing song with an amazing message in the video. I would absolutely recommend it. Also the prayer and the sound of silence
Kevin sings when he can, but who can replace him as beat boxer. I don't think I have seen you do a video since Avi left and replaced by Matt so you might want to check out " Mr. Grinch" which highlights Matt.
The setting for this video is the "Bat Cave" used in the 1960s tv series of Batman. It's somewhere in the vicinity of Los Angeles. I concur that Kevin has a voice of an angel. It's soft and pure. Her name is NOT Kristen. It's Kirsten, Kirsten, Kirsten! (Kirstie....if she approves)
Kevin is a classically trained cellist, he was born with perfect pitch, invented cello/ boxing. ( where he does both at once) He is a genius He graduated pre med from Yale. While there he spent a year plus in China and speaks fluent Mandarin. This is a group of insanely talented folks who also manage to be great humans!! Kevin is all-around awesome. The story I’ve heard: Kevin grew up doing the instrumental/classical side of music (he plays saxophone & cello), and taught himself how to beatbox because it intrigued him. He combined cello & beatboxing for a viral video back in early 2011, which brought him the the attention of Scott, who was putting together PTX & was searching for a beat-boxer. After they established themselves as a group, Kevin got tired of not knowing how to sing, and got lessons from Avi (his roommate in the early years) and the rest of the group. 2014/15 was when he had enough confidence to solo (briefly) in recorded songs. And he’s usually too busy beatboxing to sing much, but it’s always a fun treat on the occasions he takes a solo.
Kevin sang the last part in Bohemian Rhapsody on the couch. And your right he does have a amazing voice. They are all so talented. He does not sing so much because he has to do the bebops. Another great review.
Yes!! Kevin also has the final vocal segments in "Imagine" and "Amazing Grace", plus an awesome solo in the middle of the "Evolution of Michael Jackson" video. I notice Scott snapping his fingers while Kevin sings in in the Michael Jackson one, but that's the extent of what I've seen of even a rudimentary "backup" beatboxer. Scott can cover for Avi and Mitch can cover Kirstie. But nobody can cover the Awesome Kevin.
2:43 *internal thoughts* HAHAHAHAHAHAHA Oh, just you wait!...3:32 'Yup, got another one, Kevin!!' Hahahahaha. Love this, man. Now go and check out Kevin's solo stuff. ;)
Another good Christmas song is Silent Night. It’s absolutely beautiful. You’ll hear them in 5part harmony. They are singing in what looks like a hall of a chapel and the acoustics are just amazing. Thank you for another great reaction. Love your channel ❤
Kevin is probably one of the talented people on the planet and he’s a super lovely person. I saw them at their concert a couple weeks ago and Kevin does some cello boxing - you’re gonna love it. Their live performances are incredible, can’t wait to hear about your experience! ❤️🙌🙌
Kevin's solo in Amazing Grace brings tears to my eyes every time. Technically not a Christmas song but it is on one of their holiday albums. I recommend 12 Days of Christmas, fantastic arrangement, Kevin does sing, but I'm not sure if it's in the set this tour. It was last year.
This was Kevin singing falsetto, wait until you hear his regular voice, that is like butter. If you are going to a concert, you must react to this, Scott and Mitch have a side channel, called SuperFruit. Scott is a big Broadway fan, his favorite show is called Wicked (I call it Wizard of Oz part 2), it is a continuation of the Oz story, specifically about Glenda the good witch and her sister Elphaba. So Scott asked Mitch to sing the last song in Wicked, because it's rather high, and it is Scott's favorite song. So for Scott;s birthday the two of them sang this song. The song is two women, so Scott is wearing a blonde wig, and singing falsetto. Mitch, well I;ll let that be a surprise, but you need to it as a reaction, because we need to see your face. If you don;t want to be freaked out in the concert you need to find out what Mitch can do.
In random order you should react to these... O come all ye faithful, Joyful joyful, Mr. Grinch, Silent Night, Carol of the bells, Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, Deck the halls. There literally are very few Christmas songs they haven't covered in their own way, but you won't find a bad one in the bunch.

Kevin is a great singer, you should check out some of his solo stuff! And please explore some of Avi post-Ptx too, everything he does is amazing! You really should check out Carol of the Bells and God rest ye merry gentlemen too, both absolutely beautiful and technically impressive.
Okay, so I know it takes hours and hours of practice along with talent to harmonize like this, but good lord Pentatonix makes it look completely effortless. Just a seamless blend of sound like a tonic for the soul.
oh boy you have no idea of all the amazing stuff Pentatonix does with music. You have only scratched the surface so far. They were good when they first started out over10 years ago but they have evolved to something beyond anything words can describe. You should check out Imagine, Kevin sings a lot in that one. Also, did you know he was a multi instrumentalist that has played Carnegie Hall? He has some amazing videos on his channel KO- Kevin Olusula. His rendition of Down will blow your mind...
Kevin is all around great. You really would love his solo songs. His cello performances are awesome too. Please check out Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. You will be amazed!
These aren't Christmas songs but you can see Kevin's talents shine even more - Radioactive (Kevin plays his cello and beat boxes aka Celloboxing) and their cover of Imagine Kevin sing again. I swear that he has so much talent he is not human 👽
If you want to hear more of Kevin he did have a part in their rendition of little drummer boy too. Other than that he also harmonises in run to you and silent night and he also kills it. I would also suggest one of their more recent albums, Evergreen which they did a recording vlog type of video for and you can just admire more of their compositor side and just the behind the scenes of their arrangement process
Also I would like to apologize sir but you just put yourself in a never ending spiral with their talent slapping you from all sides. The concert will have you Mitch punched this time because the man is something else on stage and then all other members will just melt you with their talent.
Ok last time I’m ranting I promise but I forgot Kevin also had a part in their version of Imagine and other than having leads and harmonising he’s really good at imitating the trumpet/saxophone he’s an all-rounder and you can hear it in the evolution of music for example or if you want more singing I would suggest his introduction to Nature boy which you can die if you listen to it be careful Mitch is aggressive lmao

Well, they NEED a beatboxer so there's that. But songs where Kev sings: Little Drummer Boy, Say Something, Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone). Kevin also has his own channel of KOvers ;-)
I'd advize "12 days of Christmas", "My favorite things", "The prayer", "Amazing grace" or "Prayers for this world" or any other one with Matt in it so you can listen to his smooth and incredibly beautiful voice once before the concert 😉
Way back when they first started Avi and Mitch worked with Kevin on his singing so he would be more comfortable singing as he was doing his beat boxing and playing cello. Kev sings in many more songs and has released some independent stuff you will enjoy watching.
Avi and Kevin were added to provide bass and beatbox. I've always thought that they're exceptional vocal talent is frequently overlooked because of that. Every one of them has unbelievable singing voices but you just don't get to hear those two shine very often. You really need to listen to Avi's solo music.
Kevin's voice is a secret weapon they pull out exactly when it can have the most effect, and when the arrangement doesn't need his super power beat-boxing. Others can cover minor league vocal percussion, especially Matt, but Kevin is untouchable.
Kevin is full of surprises. He writes, arranges and produces. He has a beautiful voice and plays multiple instruments. He is a master cello and saxophone player and played both at Carnegie Hall as a teenager. He speaks multiple languages and used his fluency in Mandarin to work at the Chinese American Embassy as a young man. He had graduated pre med from Yale and was on his way to med school when Scott found a viral video of Kevin playing his cello and beat boxing at the same time (a skill that has since been called cello boxing). Scott asked him to join PTX to compete in a televised acapella competition show called the Sing Off which they went on to win. Life took a major musical detour for Kevin because of that invite from Scott. One if his favorite past times is to beat box versions if classical masterpieces like Beethoven's Fifth. The man is a musical genius! I think you would love reacting to some of his solo work. His cover of Down will melt your brain cells. His cover of Sign of the Times is fantastic and really show cases his voice. There is much more solo content from Kevin and it is all so good. These two covers are a great place to poke your head down the KO rabbit hole. I hope you get a chance to check him out more. Thanks for your reactions. Really enjoying them!

Kevin is the beatboxer. He is, quite literally, irreplaceable. If you notice, in general, if he is not actively beatboxing, he is filling in the background vocals. In the beginning, he and Avi Kaplan were roommates, and Avi gave him voice lessons. His confidence grew, and now he does sing more than he did in the beginning. Check out Kevin's channel. He has some wonderful covers where he sings. One such cover is of Marion Hill's "Down."
Great reaction to this beautiful Pentatonix video. Thank you. Kevin has his own UA-cam channel (Kevin Olusola) and everything on it is amazing. Most people suggest his performance cover of "Down" to reactors to start. I'm currently obsessed with his performance video for "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood". The band needs Kevin's beatboxing and percussion skills for most songs. He loves doing it so it's a win-win.
Kevin sings in lots. Imagine, Little Drummer Boy, Amazing Grace... And his stunning solo stuff. Especially his version of Down on his own channel, in his own studio.
Kevin’s singing is angelic, but his beatboxing is godly. That’s why.

Kevin sings when he wants to but someone *has* to do all the beatboxing.
Kevin doesn't sing more because he's the heartbeat of the sound! What would we do without his fabulous beats?
Kevin sings in lots. Imagine, Little Drummer Boy, Amazing Grace... And his stunning solo stuff. Especially his version of Down on his own channel, in his own studio.
Love him and love your reactions. I’ve watched ALL of your PTX (et al) reactions for a long time.
Sounds of Silence, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Imagine, Amazing Grace.
