I was visiting Nazaré, even outside surfing season it's still worth going there just to see the waves. They're so impressive. I was watching them for hours, just mesmerised.
I'm sure the ground shakes. The smell of the surf, and the salt spray on your face. Knowing 1st hand the sheer, unfettered violence unleashed inside that whitewater, I'm simply astonished the human body can withstand such punishment. If I could pick 1 place to see before I die, I'd choose Nazare in February - big and hairy..
I would love to see photography of the waves actually being formed at their inception. To see how from nothing they become quite the gigantic something. Thank-you.
What are the chances for a person to survive all of that white water w. With everything they have on they let go of that rope. Is oes he have just slim chance of surviving or what. It looks like with all the gear they have that they would probably survive. I personal think some one better go them or they are gonna eventually drown. I've never experienced this And don't want to. And when I say eventually drown I don't mean five mins from now . I mean good gollly be gone to help the guy. Looks awfully dangerous to me. But hey. We all gotta live ever now and then !!
You have to surf to understand - but then I wouldn't attempt that , even when I was young . If you live through the 1st one, it's the next 5 you now gotta worry about .. Huge balls
@@BullshitWharehouse I ought a six fty amaha trail bike from my brother. I got pretty good at going through the gears while setting in the saddle and riding on the back tire ! The night I passed a truck running seventy on the back tire was the last time I rode a wheelie for years. I just knew I had to stop. It was addicting and it was getting to the point that it wouldn't have been good if something happened and that something was really close.
Oakley, I didn't understand everything you wrote. But just from the way you wrote I see that you are one of those who understood the world. I think around you everyone feels a human warmth and is comfortable (maybe I would have written this comment a little more rationally if I were sober. Just think it 15% less dramatic).

The Golden Gate Bridge is 200 feet high and you're not jumping into a crashing wave if you dive off it. RESPECT to these suicidal maniacs!
This masterpiece… epic dramatic cool super
No only in the winter months a few days
Though I know very little about surfing, it looked to me like the guy at the end may still be down there, in some form of vaporization

Aqua Insanity.
Imho there are times the waves, the ocean appear to chase some surfers.
We didn’t see any 100ft waves in Nazare this year…
Actually we did
@@ggexpeditions867 I’ve lived in Nazare since 2014, my husband is Toby Cunningham.
In one of Kai Lenny’s interviews he said he saw an 100+ft wave at nazare in December 2021 but there’s no known footage of it

So , you're hauling ass with an 8 story building charging at you and you decide it's a good time to try a 360 Ollie , Okay ...
what causes them
Its all about the shallow layout of the area pretty much
Nik it’s quite the opposite

Threads like these make me question if I really know English or not
I don’t think that last surfer made it 😔
Some dont.
Nope...not 100 feet
I would say max 40 footers. That's being generous.
40 foot is the breaking wave, your not looking crest to break. And not all they are claiming are 100 foot.
Not your call
