    What if there is a dart near bust and you want to place the print and make sure the print lines matches at dart point as well?

    • @PatternLabLondon
      @PatternLabLondon  2 роки тому +1

      You would have to engineer the print to work across that dart. You could do this by slicing the print artwork using the one edge of the dart, then rotate it around the tip of the dart until it matches the opposite dart edge. You could apply this technique to each dart on the block. Hopefully this helps?

    Lets say I wanted to sew on a pocket with a pocket flap on that dress, how would I go about making sure the placement of the patterns and the artwork match seamlessly ? If thats makes any sense. THANKS

      Great question. It depends if you are using a placement print or a repeat print. Part one of the tutorial focuses more on scale and less on placement, but if you were sending your print to a digital printers and you defined the print using your sewing pattern, I would suggest first placing your print in the pattern, then add/ position your pocket. You could then, using the small selection tool (white arrow), Select the pocket outline (whilst holing own SHIFT + OPT (Alt) then select the print underneath. Once both the pocket and the print have been selected copy and paste them to different part of the page. This should give you a separate pocket panel and matching print placement. Finally, contain the print in a clipping mask. The pocket should now match the body. Hope that makes sense.

    Hi, thanks for the video! I'm printing a coat's back panels with a centre back seam, do I stretch the print to make them match in the centre?

    • @PatternLabLondon
      @PatternLabLondon  Рік тому

      You can do that, absolutely as long as you are happy with the result and the print is not too warped. Otherwise, if you can place individual elements of the print, then fill in the spaces.

    How to actually print on the fabric?

    • @PatternLabLondon
      @PatternLabLondon  2 роки тому

      You'd need to send the full-scale print artwork to a digital print company. You could send them the full scale pattern + print as a PDF and ask them to print it directly on to the fabric. You'd have to make sure the size of your pattern + print does not exceed the width of the fabric they supply. The best option is to have a conversation with the company and find out your limitations. I hope this helps!

    how would you do this on a circle skirt pattern 💛

    • @PatternLabLondon
      @PatternLabLondon  2 роки тому

      You' use the same technique, you'd just need to duplicate or repeat the pattern more times to fill up the space. If it is a placement pattern, simply tile or expand the print to fit the skirt.
