Tom, you are a genius and by far my favorite junk man (not counting Fred Sanford).
This sewing machine looks fantastic.
This is the big one Elizabeth! (Being a Fred Sanford man, I'm sure you get the reference :-)
Gracias, Gracias, Gracias, what an awesome job. After retiring I picked up an old sewing machine with cabinet and went to work, I was so proud of myself that I got another one, then another, then another. Isn't life wonderful? My kids get on me for picking up use stuff, but I surely enjoy it. Thank you again, enjoy your video.
Beautiful restoration on this cabinet. The owner must be elated that you were able to make it "new" again.
I'll be delivering it this week so she has not seen it yet.
Incredible restoration. Those old sewing machines are a work of art.
They really are. The carvings on the front are fantastic!
Indeed, a work of art!
Beautiful!
That turned out great!
I want to thank you again for the wonderful gift you have sent. I feel bad because I havent been able to comment as much as I would like, life is crazy. We have used so many of the tools to do little projects around our home. It is a life changer! You have so much talent.
Thank you! I think of you guys when I look at your painting. I often tell people the story of the amazing coincidence about how the picture you painted looks so much like the property on which it now resides. I hope you are doing well in the midst of your "craziness".
@@AlleyPicked That warms my heart. We are doing well. Most of the projects we do revolve around baby proofing EVERYTHING lol. Though we do try to find time in the in-between fir other things. I pray for you and your family often that life finds you blessed and healthy always.
@@Aizawa_Shouta_ Thank you. We will keep in touch.
Excellent work Tom, and a most enjoyable vid as always. The table-top mechanism is very satisfying. And your Mail Call feature is a great idea! I'll have to think up some questions now... Cheers mate.
Hey Mark...I can't wait to hear your questions. :-)
Fantastic job! It truly looks amazing!!
Thanks for the feedback!
Also, you will now be my carpentry expert/mentor. 😎
Amazing work Tom
Thank you Sonia!
Lovely. looks beautiful.
I recently painted some furniture-one piece had a stained finish, which I sanded first. What would be the best clear-coat sealant choice for protecting these? One is a bookcase and the other is a night table. Each piece needed about three coats of paint. The bookcase had originally been painted white. Thank you in advance for your advice! ☺️
Hi. If I understand you correctly, you are asking what is the best way to seal your painted projects after painting them? I would use some water based polyurethane. Not oil based as that can have a yellowish tint. Rather use 2 thin coats of a water based poly. sand lightly after the first coat. After the second coat, do not sand. Hope that helps. Tom
@@AlleyPicked Thank you!
My Singer treadle machine was in storage and got rusty. Is there any hope of restoring it?
Theres always hope. Depends on the amount of resources you have.
If you have some glass sheets lying around, good scrapers can be made from them...just cut to size. Be careful of the edges though.
Interesting thought. I just might have to try that. Thanks!
@@AlleyPicked It was something shown to me by an army Carpenter. He was working on regimental furniture at his base. There may be better things off the shelf now, but if you have bits of broken glass...window panes seem best...you can make them to a size that fits the area you are working.
How many hours do you think you have into it?
40-50 I'd guess...spread out over 2.5 weeks.
