- The Department of Justice will provide 100 free Birth Certificates, along with crucial support to help people keep their lives on track, to mark its first 100th Aboriginal Justice Open Day in a Financial Year.
The Open Day team travels all over the State delivering a one-stop-shop for essential documentation and administrative services that normally take months to access, especially in remote communities.
The program has also enabled clients to prevent escalating involvement with the justice system and steer clear of penalties and debt.
In the first nine months of this Financial Year more than $2.2 million fines were converted, with 422 people set up with time-to-pay arrangements.
It’s the first time the growing service has held 100 Open Days within a 12-month period since it began in 2011, celebrating the milestone event with 100 free Birth Certificates issued to the first 100 recipients over two Open Days on 23-24 April at the Rivervale Community Centre in Perth.
