  • In this video I show how this pair of boots performs in the winter while clearing snow from the driveway!!
    I did not mention the width of these boots, but if go to 2:05 you will see the tag (upside down) and it indicates that these are a Men's W width.

    I got my first pair and I love them! However, the sizes are way off on these. I wear 10.5 in sneakers but a size 9 in RAT boots fit me perfectly. They're very comfortable and will last a long time. Sadly, they are out of production so I got to order one of the last brand new pairs. I believe they sold for $350+ back in the day.

    Thanks for the review, just ordered a pair for winter walking in NH, not sure if I need wide or standard, ordered standard 1/2 size up...we'll see, will exchange if necessary. I am a bit concerned about the plastic heel counter, as others have had problems with cracking and jabbing into the foot. I had that happen on a pair of Danner Bull Run work boots, and it really messed my heel up. For $80 bucks, it is worth a shot.

    Thanks for the review,
    It is kind of difficult to hear you though, as the music seems to be just as loud as you are when you speak

      I have not had any experience with the Danner quarry at this time. Maybe in the future I will be able test out a pair!

    I had order my pair of RAT boots on-line since they are on sale, how would you compare the size and fit of RAT and Acadia , they used different type of lasts ,

      Great question! I found that the RAT boot fit larger than the Acadia!

    These boots will be perfect for my job, but I live in Oregon. Does water get into the little vents?

    • @SurvivalShowcase
      @SurvivalShowcase  6 років тому +4

      These do not have the little vent like the jungle boots do.

      I'm pretty sure the Gortex-lined ones are waterproof.

    • @BikingVikingHH
      @BikingVikingHH 2 роки тому

      Cortex insulated ones are waterproof, the hot weather versions have the holes. There are three versions of the same boot.

    I have this boot in goretex after about a year they lost the fit only in speed lace area the other one is does your heel crack in them my heel got crack down the side and caused the goretex to seperate from the heel and where the stitch down is around the outsol the material bunches up around the toe and sides in back I wear a 8.5 regular and the also stretched around the ankle is that normal the danner boot said yes.

    • @SurvivalShowcase
      @SurvivalShowcase  6 років тому

      I personally have not had any cracks in my boots. The speed lace system on my pair work well. I have not had my pair on in a while as they are in my vehicle for emergency purposes. Have you made contact with Danner or where you bought them from?

    I was thinking about getting these for my fall/spring boots and also winter when I have to be more mobile. My current boots have seen better days, time for an upgrade. I've always liked to have the right boots for the job. My ice fishing boots are great, if I don't have to walk more than a hundred feet. I live in Northern Michigan, so we are in boots for a big chunk of the year. I'm an electrician and always loved Redwings, but their best boots are for construction/factory work. They don't really have any good outdoor weatherproof options. Also, I was a Marine (1990-94) so these caught my eye. Seem perfect from what I'm looking for, but I read a couple reviews they are narrow at the ankle and tough to get on. I don't mind a little effort but don't want to be wrestling them on every time. Is it an issue? Thanks for the video.

    • @SurvivalShowcase
      @SurvivalShowcase  2 роки тому +1

      I don’t think these would be warm enough for winter unless they offer a version with insulation. My main purpose for this boot is emergency use as I keep them with my emergency kit bag that is in my car so I always have a set of boots with me. For the purposes that you listed I would take a look at the Danner Acadia I also have this boot and I use them all the time. ua-cam.com/video/KU0wA8dWjJw/v-deo.html

      @@SurvivalShowcase I don't like my walking boots to be too insulated. Waterproof is the key for me. These are mostly for spring/fall. I also like the Sierra w/200g insulation, any more than those and my feet get hot walking around. Thanks for getting back.

    • @SurvivalShowcase
      @SurvivalShowcase  2 роки тому +1

      The Acadia can be order with or with out insulation and the amounts vary, also they can come with or with out Gortex too I believe. Mine are Gortex with 200grams insulation.

      @@SurvivalShowcase ya, I saw those, but don't they have a more urban tread? They are pretty nice. I looked at Grouse, Sierra, Acadia and all are in the wheelhouse. I know a place that sells danner not too far from me (by that I mean within an hour) they may have some I can physically check out.

    • @BikingVikingHH
      @BikingVikingHH 2 роки тому +2

      They make a hot weather and a cold weather and a cold weather with steel toe version. The cold weather has cortex insulation and is waterproof, hot weather doesn’t have the insulation and has breathing holes near the soul/arch

      Good point, I did not mention the width on these.
      The Danner RAT boot in this video is a men's W . These boots do not use the traditional E system. My guess as to why this is, is because they are a Military boot.
