- Ready to buy a new mpc drum machine? watch this video!! Hopefully it can provide some additional thoughts before you buy.
First of all let's be honest, you gotta work with what you have. Unlike when I started making beats there are plenty of affordable options I can't believe! It was important for me to figure out what music I wanted to make before I began to dump cash into drum machines and synths. With responsibilities $$$ its important to take all things into consideration before dropping 2-3k on gear

This has been a problem of mine since the start...wanting that shiny new piece of gear. I've been through an MPC 500, MPC 1000, MPC 2000, SP 303, SP505, SP 404SX, Korg ES-1 MK2, Maschine Mk1, Maschine MK2 and a whole bunch of different DAWs along the way. To be honest, none of the gear changed anything, I just made beats with them. The problem is that I've wasted time and money jumping around from sampler to sampler.
Thank you for sharing this- transparency is super important to this channel.
Fax man.. been using FL studio and my same midi board for like 5 years now 😂
I did the same but I didn't come from musical family/friends or anything I'm the only one into music out of all. So I had to catch em all Pokemon. Honestly it taught me alot!! playing with different gear and sampler and synth fir extended time expanded my imagination and music structure so much. That said after this mix and match I can just use a laptop and make good music, without that long expensive hassle I don't think it would've been possible for me to grow this fast, I think a lot of people are missing this point. However if person can't afford it, a DAW is more than enough.
Mpc Live, MPC One has the dream features. Trust me.
@@DonBrowsing I'm sticking with Maschine. Out of all the pieces I've worked with I've got the workflow down to a tee and I can get to work. I'm sure the MPC One and Live are also great but I've already wasted years jumping around.
I really dig the fact that you aren't out here claiming you're the best, just like almost all producers/artists nowadays. No hate on them, but it is really great to see a creative individual as part of that ecosystem with great beats and an even greater sense of humility. Your videos usually leave me feeling inspired and enlightened. Thank you for your content.
Blessings to you fam 🙏🙏🙏
Conductor! We Have A Solution /// PEACEEEE❤️
🚨 much love
Fam I actually considering selling my 606 to cop something after seeing this joint I think I got all i need . It was mainly the no pitch and being able to spread a sound over all 16 pads but i think i found a workaround
Relax
@@philtyrich1 ay I actually feel you- Roland got a lot of things right with the 606, but missed hard with the pitch AND the fact you gotta stop playback just to adjust sample level. That’s the worst. Good luck friend.
@@ConductorWilliams Minus a few short comings on the 606 sound wise and effects wise one of the best machines I've used in a long while . Keep dropping them jewels fam there much appreciated .
Your channel is seriously the most valuable that I've found for an artist/producer. I admire your style of production so much. And yet, hearing your words in this video, hearing you describe the style of producer that sits at logic with a keyboard and builds.. That's me. I've been building in that style for a decade now, and am in a zone now where I'm building the best beats of my life, and writing the best lyrics of my life for them... So maybe I shouldn't be focused on switching my style up, learning the sample heavy style of production, getting new equipment... and just keep embracing the style i've been on.
keep working! have fun with it-- let your imagination flow
Highlight of my week is seeing the conductor rocking out to his beats.. that's happiness. ✌️
blessings family!
I've got a couple of machines that I use. I found that researching new gear kept me from creating music that I was scared to release. When I finally realized that I just did the Tom Morello thing and what I have is what I have and I will squeeze every last drop out of the gear I have. Now I have finally released my first EP.
Thank you! Brilliant advice. I can hear that you know who you are. You live it. It comes through I your videos and work.
That's exactly how its done Brother plain and simple. Your ears perk up when you're listening to a record and THAT PART leaps out of the speaker at you .
The best feeling
Man, Im really digging this channel. Coming from a punk rock background, moving to synths, then rackmount samplers, then an mpc, i feel like there is so much of this world for me to learn, and its all so cool. Thank you for sharing all this
Conductor, thank you for posting this video. You are absolutely right about spending money on expensive days or software. Invest in what you can afford and get your ideas or creations out. All of us have a starting point and some of us upgrade if it fits our situation. Please keep these videos as well as anything else that has to do with producing from your experience. Salute!
i got you fam!! im locked in
Thank you for being so accessible. It means a lot, just like what does what you're doing.
🙏🙏🙏
I absolutely love this video. I've been wanting to create beats for sooooo long man. And it's easy to get lost in the hype of machines
That feeling you getting when you found that zone.... and made some heat...energy just goes through the roof... dozens of ideas on how to start it off right... peace peacee...
peace fam-- great way of explaining it too!!
From a blue collar guy to another, I appreciate your honesty and your words of inspiration.. vsts and all the bells and whistles of machines stress me out too. As a mechanic, some of the tools I use are high quality grade and some low quality grade.. but as long as the job gets done, it doesn’t t matter which ones you use to get there. (Btw… all those Budos Band albums are 🔥 if you ever get around listening to all of them) peace ✌🏾 👊🏾
🚂🚂🚂 blessings family!
I definitely got lucky with my MPC One when I snagged it for about $400! I started off with an MPC Touch when I found that for $150 and really enjoy just having a standalone, portable machine! I've tried my hand at the older models, but I definitely think I'm spoiled by the QOL changes the newer ones have! But I'm always a believer of its not about the tech you have but how you use it!
Great vid, Conductor!
🚂🚂🚂
I really love your videos bro. Please don't ever stop doing what you love.
more on the way family-- thanks for rocking with me, yall got me locked in now!
love your content dude, it has that chillin with the dude with the skills you want vibe instead of like that watching a lecture type
This video was Dope brotha definitely what I needed to hear. I’m currently using logic and Mpc beats with my Mpk 249 , and the mini mk3. I’m understanding to just work with what I have and improve my craft. I’m definitely gonna grab a Mpc in the next few months. I appreciate the solid advice fam.
yo conductor, just wanted to say thank you for this vids and your music man!! much love for you🙏🏾
Peace fam-- thanks for rocking with me my G
Don’t understand how much I appreciate these videos always make me plug in the beat machine and laptop when I need to most
🚂🚂🚂
I've been on the Touch for 6 years and love it. Sometimes I do wish I could use it without the software running because my computer tends to be slow but it all works for my tracks right now which is most important
A constant inspiration, thank you for always sharing your process!
Much love family. Glad to have you active on the channel 🚂🚂🚂
Dope insight on the creative process and just keeping it 100 with the viewers. great stuff Brother!
🚂🚂🚂
Love your humility, brother.
Amazing words spoken Mr. Conductor.

I have felt this especially trying to make UA-cam content and be a producer of records. Very dope topic fam
Peace bro, your videos have been almost therapeutic to where it gives us direction, I like both sampling and vsts got a couple of cracked softwares to work with, I come from dirt man diadema são paulo brazil, and I been able to make some beats Im proud of but still learning, much love always BDP is my favorite
much love family!!
Well said!✊🏾
Man it’s so nice to watch a creative who genuinely gives a shit about creating
much love fam
Bro super dope video and I agree 💯.. I have the mpc live 2 and I just bought a S2400 like 2 weeks ago and man... I get way more inspiration now from how it sounds now rather when I just had everything coming from the mpc . The different filters on the back of the 2400 that you can get different texture from is insane...
I just got an MPC X loaded with a 1TB drive and about every expansion pack made with many key groups of vst instruments. For a steal of a price. I know I will not use everything, but having all the options coupled with the ability to manipulate the sounds in a standalone unit if I don't feel like using my PC it is a great option. I don't expect to ever blow up. I literally just enjoy doing it and making music for the group of friends I currently hang out with and maybe some randoms on the internet who come across my pages. It is such a fun machine to mess around with. Since I have lots of experience with other varieties of synths it makes using all my hardware fun again.
🚂🚂🚂
Thanks for sharing this 🙏🙏
Your videos are always so calming + your beats are fucking insane…it’s amazing hahahah
I feel you Big Bro ... I had the MPC Touch for a min upgraded to the live 1 bout 3 years ago but them new mpcs aint stopin me from doin shit
no doubt gotta keep going! if you got what you need that is good enough fr
Love your channel God bless sir, thank you for your energy....
Thank you for the reminder brother - I needed it.
🚂🙏
Great video. Love this topic. People don't realize that them and their gear is enough. Fire beat In the beginning too
thanks family!
Some sick insight man, we appreciate you!🚂
respect fam!!
i see you with the Budos Band there. My fav is Burnt Offerings. good looking out
It's all about creative workflow. Whatever device allows you to have the most fun and experience the most creativity whilst providing you with the right workflow will work for you. I found early that Ableton was perfect for me, and trying to force myself to use an MPC or Machine to 'look cooler' when making beats would kill my enjoyment and stifle my creativity. Pick whatever canvas is right for you
dope take!!
@@ConductorWilliams thank you for launching this channel. It’s crazy to see one of my favourite producers be so open bout their process. Trust me it is much appreciated
King give the world your vibes king real ones see u from Richmond Virginia
Roger-- Im on it!
Priceless gems of wise experience. One . 🙌🏾
Conducted!! That last beat 🚀🚀

Perfect timing, I been thinking of purchasing the Mpc one plus as an avid Logic user. Tryna chop up samples like the conductor haha
Conductor we have a problem!!! Keep up the good work bro. You inspire me to keep going and push my sound
no doubt
Appreciate this, wish you well
🙏🙏🙏
Use what ya got ! Sometimes less is more , stay blessed !!!
THAT JOINT AT THE END🔥
So many take aways!! But the buy what your can award speaks to the soul!
Much love and respect my brother, I appreciate the gems you drop.🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Family. Its means alot that you rock with me fr
Man you got good taste in videos, I always see you in the comments of what I watch. 🫡 salute!
thats dope, the mpc one and sp606 is also my setup
much love!!
"It's gotta be in you, not on you." Damn that sums it up nicely.
Peace peace Conductor, I use my MPC Live as a DAW but use the ASR-10 and SP-1200 for the sound itself. It’s all I want for my setup and even though I’ve put in a good amount of money into having these machines it wasn’t overnight. New machines are cool but the Live has all I need and the limitations of older hardware let me get creative while still having flexibility with the Live. Dope video though God bless 🙏🏼
This is a dope take! Same for me-- I bought the mpc one because of time limitations after having a newborn baby. I get it totally!
Conductor I've been collecting MPC since 92 so I have all of them they all sound different not the new x but I rock out on any of them what ever floats ya boat as long they bang.
I knew you would see what I was talking about!! fr dont matter what you use it just need to jam.
Wise words! 🙌
This video/your work has inspired me to create again
I had S20, mpc 2000, 1000, 4000. At the 4000 it just slowed me down even thought it had all the bells . 2000xl was my most productive. However, the MPC One/X/Live nailed it in terms of giving you easy access to make beats like a 2000,3000 etc. But with the bells n whistles built around it without it being in the way. But that's with my experience though.
I love the MPC one Akai got everything right, size and everything!
Keep it coming🔥🔥🔥
roger
Fantastic vibe in the video, overdubbing yourself doing your thing. I really enjoyed watching it.
I don't make music, but I do a lot of photography. It seems to me to be exactly the same phenomenon. I think there's a lot of fear behind it, you can always dream about the next purchase instead of taking what you have and maybe realising that you don't really have anything worth listening to in you yet.
Whereas a fully fledged artist doesn't really care what he's working with, he might take longer with one device and curse about it, another might sound a bit too artificial for him etc. but ultimately it doesn't really matter, it seems so hard to understand that when you haven't got to that level yourself.
CONDUCTOR‼️ telling the truth on this one..I was the guy buying all the new shit and wondering why I wasn’t magically making the hottest beats..through trial and error have realized less is more for MY workflow ✌🏾 and salute to you sir…also got your message for coppin the T shirt #LOVE that’s crazy fam…never seen no shit like that ..appreciate you👏🏾🙌🏾
respect family
I couldnt reply to every one but I try to do 1 or 2 a day
Brother, you're in your natural habitat cooking up. I see the philosophical approach- stay unique, too many producer copycats.
Great Vid and advice fam
respect!!
I've been collecting gear since I was 17. Like the bottom, like scrubbing toilets for $20 just to get a toy keyboard. My advice is be very picky and look for functionality. As I'm getting ready to look for a Digitrakt. I feel like I look for stuff that's gonna both invite me and challenge me at the same time.
About 4 yrs ago I bought the maschine MK3 best piece of equipment I ever bought
Slaps only! But for real, beautiful channel keep it up you’re killing it.
Man you're so inspirational
preciate you G
“Bells and whistles give me anxiety…”

That Vintage Horns sample is 🔥
Been rocking a mpc 2500 since day 1 since I can’t remember. No plans to change.
Dope!...in da middle of all the drum machine chaos!,...the facts appear!...Use wht You know!..hunting & peaking beats should be over in Your stage of Production!...& love the Production Set-up..dnt U knw no Goooood!😂
🙏🙏🙏 absolutely correct!
Thanks for praying for us. I plan on getting a MODX6, but I keep debating. I may get a few roland SPs or guitar pedals instead cause I love various textures. 😊
for sure-- generally I sit with ideas and thoughts before I share them with you all. Kind of better that way
Man fam. I have been battling for inspiration for a beat last few days. Listening to stuff not inspired. Went to shut off the music to watch the new conductorvideo and the coldest sample came on. Hahahha. Peace from Peoria Illinois.
peace fam hopefully you back in the zone.
Peace conductor hope the summer been treating you good
Same to you!
im glad i came across this

Are you gonna be selling any stickers? I'd love to have your union logo on my laptop.
real talk! new gear isn’t everything! it really boils down to mastering your gear so you can flow when creating. stay creative [ 🦉🌙 ]
Thanks for the advice #Priceless
γειά σου conductor, could you do a video about getting placements? I’m sure lots of young producers could find this helpful, loving the videos, keep it up ❤
I’m working on something for this
Salute Conductor. I been beat making/music producing/engineering/ for three decades. I remember in 1996, a good friend of mine was telling me stop getting gased up off of these sound modules. He was using the Proteus 1 and I had the proteus 2000. He said strip away the reverb off those pianos. Sure enough the piano on the proteus 2000 was the exact same piano on the proteus 1. Over time I do admit, G.A.S was kicking my a$$. I have had placements been on the same albums with some legendary producers. It wasn’t until recently. G.A.S has finally….Well 80% has left my system. On the software side, there are things that I wish I had in 2001. As far as Groove boxes. MPC X and Live II are my final sampler boxes. As a older man, I feel like my friend in 1996. 😂 Anyway, you are one of many music production specialist, I can relate to. Keep up the good work champ. ✌🏾
Im on em bro-- thanks for sharing this!
Peace Conductor....Baltimore MD checking in!!!
much love fam-- preciate yo!!
I had a SP-505 since 2002 and I finally pulled the trigger on getting a MPC in 2020. “It’s not on you but in you.”
