The seasonal color system aims to guide you towards the most beautiful colors for you, harmonizing with your natural shading. It's not an exact science but rather an art, so approach it with an open mind and softness. There's no magical formula that dictates the colors you must wear. The system offers a probability cloud of colors that are likely to look lovely on you. Some colors may look okay, while others may not be as flattering or may even make you appear less vibrant.
Now, let's delve into the summer sub-seasons. Summer is characterized by low chroma colors with more mutedness and a cool undertone. You won't find many warm colors like yellows, reds, or oranges in the summer palette. Instead, blues, greens, and pinks dominate the scene.
Starting with the blues, light summer blues have a hint of warmth, resembling colors like turquoise, aqua, or bright blue skies. True summer blues are completely cool, like the deep waters of the Pacific Ocean, conveying a cold, aquatic feel. Soft summer blues are more muted and may have a touch of gray warmth, reminiscent of foggy sunrises or faded, antiquated blues.
When it comes to greens, light summer greens have a subtle warmth and yellowness. True summer greens lean more toward blue-green shades, evoking images of deep ponds or the mesmerizing colors of the Aurora Borealis. Soft summer greens have a hazy, grayish quality, like succulents or the inside of kale leaves.
Moving on to pinks, light summer pinks resemble peachy pink roses or soft sky pinks. True summer pinks encompass the range of colors found in roses, while soft summer pinks may have a touch of gray or cocoa, evoking vintage or hazy aesthetics.
Yellows are not as prominent in the summer palette, but when worn right, they can be lovely. Light summer yellows have a hint of warmth, such as pale avocado or pastry creams. True summer yellows are the lightest buttery shades or lemon sorbet hues. Soft summer yellows have a darker, muted quality, reminiscent of melted beeswax or certain doughs.
Lastly, we explore purples. Light summer purples have a slight warmth, like warmer lavenders or violets. True summer purples range from amethyst to eggplant or indigo, while soft summer purples take on a hazy, smoky quality, resembling dried lavender or dusky purple roses.
Throughout the video, I'll showcase examples of summer natives wearing these lovely colors, demonstrating how they enhance their natural beauty. Remember, different fabrics can influence how colors appear, so it's essential to consider the interplay between color and material.
I hope this image-led guide helps you recognize and appreciate the vibrant energy and nuances within the summer color palette. Stay tuned for the next video, where we'll dive into the autumn sub-seasons.
