    After having an Aurora R7 with a GTX 1080 for the last 6 years I've been extremely impressed with it, so much so that I finally started considering a new gaming rig, my only consideration was another Alienware. Knowing that I was going to keep it for another 6 years and my R7 never failing me I decided to go all out and got this build you went over in this video. Next week is going to be a good week!

    Alienware/Dell customer support: EXCELLENT! They send an engineer to my house to replace the keyboard (of course I paid $400/y for insurance) twice because it was damaged. Apple will charge you even if you have Apple Care LOL, and no engineer is available in days or weeks! And you paid a ton for their products. If Im concerned for something I just fill up a tag and they immediately check for problems. Send me emails to see how is going, well, that is good costumer service.

    Thanks for the video! I couldn't afford the RTX 4090 like the majority of other viewers. I just got the 4070. I would not be able to build this at the same price, plus I get excellent customer support. This i9 13th gen with added 64 GB RAM and an added 2TB M.2 with read/write speeds of 7300/5300 is insane. Adding the 5600 MHz 64 GB RAM was simple. Just "click" it in. It was instantly recognized by the computer. I was disappointed that I needed to buy the entire 64 GB RAM instead of just adding a 32 GB stick, but the memory market is at a new low, and memory is cheap at this writing. I found it interesting that this motherboard only has two memory slots instead of four.
    Next, I re-defined my video library from an external SSD. I began moving 50-150 GB files. I was so HAPPY to see transfer rates of 600 MB/sec! AND STABLE! No sharp peaks! Just a fine line almost completely straight. I was in heaven. Still Am!
    Next, I put the RTX 4070 (not TI) to use. I ran Overload on Steam and benchmarked at more than 100 fps on average! On Cyberpunk the average FPS was just 56, but it was still very impressive! The Raytracing is spectacular! Puddles look scary and real with reflections. No jitters, no hangs, no crashes, no problems with either. The only tweak I did was to set the GPU to performance.
    Bluetooth needed the external antennae. Couldn't've used Bluetooth without it unless I sat one foot from the PC. Otherwise, my plethora of devices connected up like magic. The Wi-Fi was up and running faster than ever before. I uploaded files to my DropBox and it went well, but not incredible. That issue is my local internet provider. I still got over 500 Mb/sec download and 22 Mb upload. (I think this is the max available from my provider.) One issue I encountered was the face ports: When I plug in an external SSD into the USB C, the mouse that occupies the USB 3 near it gets squirrely and sputters. So, I use the rear USB3-C port instead. I was so happy to sell my R13! It was a beast! However, I did like the RGB.
    Lastly, the new 13th gen i9 has almost double the power of the 12th generation. At 24 cores and 36 Mb Cache, it is the single largest update to the i9 in a long time, and (probably) future-proof! (can't speak for the i7 13th generation)
    Unit price was under $2,000.00 before after market add-ons!
    Conclusion: Run, don't walk...

    • @thedmedina
      @thedmedina 2 місяці тому

      Yeah, I sent back the I9 13th Gen with 64g ram & 500W psu and ordered the 14th Gen i9 with 4070 and 32g ram, and 1000W , I ordered two sticks of ram to bring it up to 64g... TBH overkill for what we do on the computer, but I won't have to upgrade for years. So I'm waaaaaiting again. The first order only took 5 days to produce and get to me. I've got some cleaning to do to prep for it. 😂

    Nice and powerful desktop no doubt. At some point if not already increase in speed bring diminishing returns. How much more benefit does one get to keep increasing the speed of these? No doubt there will be some people who will keep wanting more and more but for most users what is available in the market will easily meet most users. I guess at the end of the day to each to their own when making a choice to purchase one of these. These reviews that you do still helps to inform potential buyers to make a more intelligent choice when purchasing a computer. Great quality review as always.

    Thank you for your brilliantly delivered commentary, fully explaining the R16. I see from the Dell site, that there is, in my opinion, a 3 year warranty where it seems, if parts break down the whole PC may be replaced. That seems to be reassuring and it can include accidental damage. I don't have any connection with Dell. Many thanks JB.

      @@1BadVan and so what. What are you going to upgrade on the board? Even if you bought a build your own motherboard for Intel 14th Gen, it won’t be compatible for future Intel chips anyway.
      If you’re saying the case can’t be used with another board, so what again? Cases are usually the cheapest part of a build. Every other component apart from the board and PSU could be used in a future build.
      Most people will likely only ever upgrade the GPU in a build before selling the system and starting again.
      I do get people like the concept of non-priority parts, but in a pre build like this, does it really make that much difference?
      The PSU is from a server, so is much higher quality than a typical PC PSU. The board is custom for the PSU type and to fit in the compact case. Everything else is reusable.
      Given the value these can offer when on sale and the warranty covering them, I would say they are a good buy for those who just want a plug n play experience.

      @1BadVan 7 місяців тому

      @@theamateurguitarist6187 you can have your opinions just like me. For the cost, I rather get one that’s more consumer friendly for upgrades in the future. The room inside the case is also crammed, they use purposely shorter video cards as well, so there is another limit in the future

    • @TheTastefulThickness
      @TheTastefulThickness 10 місяців тому

      1. The 4090 can draw over 600 watts according to HWBusters with transient spikes up near 1,000.
      2. The 14900k can draw almost 400 watts
      -whats 600 + 400?
      3. This is a cadillac build, a 1200watt psu only costs about $250 bux. I would never build this with a 1k psu.
      4. The KF chip is a total penny pinching move that saves them maybe 10 bux and robs you of quicksync and integrated graphics. That means if your gfx card dies you have no way to output video. Absolute middle finger to consumers.
      Alienware is big asshole.

      @@emilypatrick7415 Indeed it does run hot. That CPU needs a far better cooler and case. With that cooler in that case it will have to be power limited in the bios.
      Or it will overheat and throttle like hell. Thats what Dell does to all of their crappy Alienware prebuilds. So basicly you end up buying expensive stuff
      and not getting all possible performance due to bad cooling solutions. With that CPU and GPU combo they should use a proper mid tower or full tower case
      that has very good airflow and can fit atleast 360mm radiators and more fans.

    • @doomsayr_x
      @doomsayr_x 5 місяців тому

      @emilypatrick7415 yeah it's hot but if you add a 360 AIO or another fan it helps. Even still mine gets to about 80C st the high end after playing for hours. I don't think any power is being held back. Since it can be overclocked from what I understand.
