There is no freedom in following religion. But there's total understanding when you meditate to align with spirituality. No one may mislead you because then you'll be truly aligned to the universe.
As for now .... you do not know who you are. Being Christian or Muslim or any other religious organization that you follow. These religions do not know who you are, and they can never. They can ONLY acknowledge the position and at what level you're in terms of doctrine within the religion you are following.

I used to go to Ghanaian church in US. The pastor is my friend. What I noticed was that every year this pastor will prophesied about me and everything was negative. So I started questioning myself and told my wife that something within me is talking to me that the pastor is not truthful. I stopped going to church. I only go when a friend dies. He and the church members visited my house so many times trying to find out why my wife and I stopped coming to the church. I always tell them I will come but I refused to go back. Life is good and I am happy.
