This was super informative and well explained. I can't wait to check out your other vids. Wanna say I really dig your business name too!... Thanks and God bless you folks.
Have you ever tried a basket twist with a short piece of "spacer" in the center (on each end)? If you used the same diameter center rod, you should be able to get the six outer rods equally spaced in a circle, and it may even be easier to get a nice even twist. Plus, you could make five and seven (or more) strand baskets by using a smaller or larger center piece. I think baskets are a wonderful decorative element of blacksmithing, and are worth the effort to get right. Thank you for your videos, and taking the time to produce them.
Hi Roy, I'm a new blacksmith, but have been a metal fabricator for overd 40 years. Did I hear you are from Utah? I lived in SLC for many years as a young man, and went to welding school there. I am excited to learn and master Blacksmithing and Bladesmithing. My plan is to master this as well as Machining before I'm all finished... I believe I have a long time left to learn! May God Bless you and your family richly.
Hey Roy would it make a difference when you are opening up the basket to also push towards the center? I have not tried one, so I guess I need to just do it and find out. but that seems to make sense to me I guess. Maybe it would open up more evenly?
Thats nice Roy May I ask if the Parent Bar could be very long to make an impliment without forge welding a rod on ( hehehe guess I just answered my own question ) Rob
less talk more work. really most people pause the video and watch the work although some explaining is nice to much talking turns people away...just sayin
+Edge 150 I don't care to be entertaining! I doubt anyone learned anything in high school by the teacher just working out problems on the board And not talking to the students! Talking is my way of explaining in detail and in-depth what I am doing for those that it would not be abundantly apparent to. There are plenty other channels that are less informative just saying...
Less criticism, more grammar and spelling. * Sentences start with capital letters. * Punctuation breaks up your sentences in logical units, so other people can understand what you're actually trying to say. * It's "too much talking", not "to much talking". * If you want to omit the final g in words ending in "ing" (even though it's not "proper" English), you replace it with a quote. And yes, I know. The usual response is "chill man its just a comment no need to write proper english its not like im writing a formel letter for a job interview or whatevs lol". To which I say: bullshit! Language serves a purpose, a function. It's what allows us to understand and be understood by others. If I have to parse your stream of words just to figure out where one of your thoughts ends and the next starts, it means I have to put in the effort that you were too lazy to put in yourself. Multiply that lost time by the number of people reading your comment, and we're talking hours of lost time worldwide, because you wanted to save a minute on punctuation and capitalisation. And you dare criticise others on the way they communicate? Don't you have anything better to do? Like figuring out what that opposable thumb you just sprouted is for?
My response was to the other guy, and kinda in your defense, but whatever. I just discovered this channel, it's not like I've formed a bond with it yet. Cheers, and happy forging!
+Juan Rial nope sorry my bad dude! I thought you were trolling me on Christmas I didn't notice that it was too an original comment from somebody else sorry about that. We're still good
Ugh, tell me about it. I seem to remember that UA-cam had nested comments back in the day? So you could see what specific post people were responding to. Now it's all guesswork and black arts... Anyway, I'm kinda disappointed. I've never been blocked from a YT channel. I was looking forward to the experience. ;)
That was cool, and I appreciate the in depth instruction, even though I am not a blacksmith
