Old School ALTERED ROADSTER Drag Car Project

- We found another old drag car we couldn’t live without. This one is a little different than our others…this one is quite a bit newer but still qualifies as OLD. This altered roadster has a lot of great qualities and could make an easy project. Will we do anything with it? Not sure yet but we’re happy to own this old school drag car.

Do a build series! I would love to see it!
Race car! Dads got fancy with the lift.
Evening! I do like your vintage drag car videos, you seem to be well versed, keep em coming!
You & your family be safe!! God Bless!
Nice looking piece
That altered would be a really cool build. It would take a little bit to get it legal for the track, but definitely worth it.
Have to tell you, assuming I had most of the parts already in hand, that altered would be a priority. My first dragster was about a 130" wb, Buick powered with a Ford banjo rear. Had a narrowed Olds rear, built an air-cooled 'glide and installed a '70 Nova 350. Only internal mod was a Crane cam and never pulled the heads. No it was not NHRA competitive, but it ran mid-tens and was big time fun! Got serious with the second car; LOTS of money and time and maybe a wee bit less fun.
Definitely a cool collection! I can understand the want and hesitation to get them built. A lot of money is required to bring them up and getting them safe to race again. It doesn't hurt to dream though! And who knows, it could happen! 😎 Thanks for sharing!!
Great episode as usual. I agree with the comments below that you should do a build series on the first one. Keep up the great work and I hope that you and the family are doing fantastic.
You need to build that Altered. =)
Happy New Year 2023
Seems like I've seen that altered at the swap meet before. Pretty cool!
Let's get this man to 100k already!!
Always love seeing the drag racing of old glad yall save these gems
Nice score! It looks like it's well engineered.Had a friend who broke a nodular iron 9" in his Chevy 383 in an LH Holden Torana, he was pretty proud of that!
I wish you would talk more about the rear differential in the race cars…….make such as Pontiac, Ford 9”, Chrysler, etc. Your vid’s are so cool!
I would love to see you build that 1st dragster, even if you do it on the cheap (relatively cheap) as nothing can be done on the cheap in today's economy. Thanks for the video
I love that this I would love to drive that
1:09 Not sure how safe I would feel with the roll cage being, essentially, an add-on the way it's attached. I would have liked to see the roll bar tied into the chassis for more roll protection. Other than that and the rear axle mounts being a bit thin, a nice find.
My dad ran a 29 bantam 99in wheelbase here in Spokane from late 70s through 91 and he sold it. It was a really competitive car in comp eliminator with a 400 small block with a snort of nos ran mid low 8s all day long. I grew up out at srp he won the world finals in 80 and 81 and was class champ many times. It was a low budget car but was built and setup right and won a ton of races. Would like to find a body and rebuild a clone before my pops passes just for shits and giggles and have some fun
Always dig your videos, especially the old race cars! Congrats on breaking out on your own, takes guts, but I can tell you're going to do real well! btw, I've got an old racer myself I need to move - '79 CJ5 that won 16 races in a row at the Lawtey FLA mud bogs, it's listed on marketplace down here in St. Marys, GA, so if you know anyone looking for a fun project for cheap, let me know - Thank You! And thanks also for the vids - gonna hit the subscribe button now and you'll be in great company with ol' Rat Rod Bob!
I'll trade you for one of those old rails, your pick - don't have any way to haul, but if you are down this way will make it worth your time -got lots of spare parts and new set of 32-12.00 mounted on new rims Super Swampers (plus wide track-kit) Even a Predator carb!.
🤔🤔💭💡 thanks for the video there’s not much videos of theses cars on UA-cam so thanks for sharing 👍🛞💨🏁
I would like to see you race one one day. Maybe this one
Was having no suspension typical for Altereds in the late '80s/early '90s? Might be a handful on a bumpy backwoods track...............
Safe & Fun = Not Fast, Dangers & Fast = Fun.
I would build it given the means with something crazy like a turbo v6 out of a Gran National
👍👍👍👍
If the altered is going to just sit outside and rust like the other chassis you should sell it to someone who will put it back on the track for vintage racing !
Hey brother I have been collecting parts to build something very similar could you do a shorts on how they designed the steering it looks like a tri5 box with a arm weld to the original steering arm
Put a turbo 4 cylinder in it and call it Carlee's Carnage and let your Daughter putt around in it
Hell yea nice
I sold a kid a rail chassis. He was making an econo rail. I hope it wasn't a classic.
Where can someone find an late 30's early 40's chevrolet or ford truck up to 47 on ford truck ? I do not have deep pockets looking for a project . About the only thing I need is cab bed grill and mybe frame. (No junk)
Did you get this from a guy named Rickey?
is this car still for sale?
It is for sale. $2,500. The body has been sanded and primed, but the chassis hasn't been fooled with. Email me at byrdrods@yahoo.com if you're interested.
I'd like to see that with a newer Lt engine and the 10L60
Drop a 392 super charged alcohol burning hemi engine in it and go racing
I am searching for 67 opal kadett 2 dr sedan ,if you run across one text me ,Rick.
Built it please
I circuit road raced motorcycles for over a decade and had my fair share of trips into the sand traps. I look at those early dragsters and think " no thanks!".
Is that aEllison body setting next to the T- bucket and or for sale?
