The Osmonds - Let Me In (1972)

- The Osmonds are an American family music group who reached the height of their fame in the early to mid- 1970s. Currently consisting of a duo of original members Merrill Osmond and Jay Osmond, the group had its best-known configurations as a quartet (billed as the Osmond Brothers) and a quintet (as the Osmonds). The group has comprised siblings who are all members of a family of musicians from Ogden, Utah and have been in the public eye since the 1960s.
The Osmond Brothers began as a barbershop quartet consisting of brothers Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay. They were later joined by younger siblings Donny and Jimmy, both of whom enjoyed success as solo artists. With the addition of Donny, the group became known as the Osmonds; performing both as teen idols and as a soft rock band, their peak lasted from 1971 to 1975. Their only sister Marie, who rarely sang with her brothers at that time, launched a successful career in 1973, both as a solo artist and as Donny's duet partner. By 1976, the band was no longer producing hit singles; that year, they transitioned into television with Donny & Marie, a popular variety show that ran until 1979.
A revival of the original Osmond Brothers lineup in the 1980s achieved moderate success in country music, and both Donny and Marie separately made comebacks in their respective fields in the late-1980s. The Osmonds have sold over 77 million records worldwide. The quartet continued to perform through their 50th anniversary in 2007, at which point Alan and later Wayne retired due to health issues; Jimmy was recruited after Alan's retirement, with the group performing as a trio until Jimmy suffered a stroke and retired in 2018. Alan's son David Osmond performed with the group in 2019. On October 14, 2019, the original Osmond Brothers quartet reunited for CBS' The Talk for their sister Marie's 60th birthday, billed as the last appearance for the lineup. The brothers performed "The Last Chapter," written as a farewell song and introduced in 2018. Donny & Marie ended an 11-year Las Vegas residency on November 16, 2019. Merrill and Jay continue to perform and tour, as does Donny as a solo artist.

Still love the Osmonds. Im now 62
The osmonds were a fantasic group,It is not right that they have not been inducted into the rock & roll hall of fame,as they are all currently still alive,Im sure most lovers of music would like this to happen.
what an abbasolutely wonderful idea.
i wonder it that will happen.
sure would be awesome if it happened whilst they are all still alive.
keep hoping and dreaming ,,,
love and peace to you and all,

One of my favorite songs of The Osmonds. Still love the voice of Merrill, after all these years
Arguably the Osmonds’ greatest song.
I don't think I can argue with that!
Yes
Fullervision Enterprises , I totally agree with you - this song always makes me feel very emotional- it did so when I first heard at the age of 12 and now as a grandma well over the age of 60 - it still has the power to reduce me to tears. It is sung so beautifully and from the heart and so heart touching ♥️💞
Agreed
Love Me For A Reason is not far behind, imo!
Best boy band ever. So much talent.
Your welvome
I got teased in a christian school because i loved the osmonds and there songs .i say, so what .they dont know the healing powers they had .just turn on there music. the harmonies and heartfelt songs that went in an lp .they all r good people with good hearts and minds
Exquisite vocal harmonies. Nothing like it ever. Absolutely incredible.
Takes siblings to do it imo
well done lands , it still stands the test of time in 2022
This was the first 75 vinyl I bought in the early 70s still one of my favourite songs
That was never 52 years just now! 😭
Beautiful harmonies ❤️ I still treasure my Jay autograph 💕
What can I add that's not already been said? I could listen to The Osmonds every day never tire of hearing their beautiful harmonies or seeing their lovely faces
Just seen the stage show fabulous 👌 go see if your a fan...
Me too.
Love you let me in
Well said loved them..40yts❤
I think this is their best song! ✌🏻❤️
The Osmonds are great singers and Merrill has a great voice.I remember this song in 1972, when I was 6,my sister Leslie would play back then.Leslie passed away September,2017, was57.💐
One of the true Boy bands - pretty much can play any instruments you throw at them ! Pure quality and musical genius 👌
I heard they add to teach their siblings the instruments because they couldn't afford music lessons for everyone. I'm not sure if each person taught one thing or how it worked
Great harmonies and the terrific voice of Merrill's, the Osmonds really were the business.
I used to cry at this so ng ,I was obsessed by the osmonds ,especially Donny ❤ I was 7 years old at the time ❤❤❤❤
Fantastic harmony
omg, no kidding. those harmonies are breathtakingly beautiful. i think in part because they are all family and already sound very similar. funny how that works in families.
but the dedication in practice that they did clearly shows in everything that they entertained us with.
this family is pure joy. such a treat to watch.
in a world filled with such garbage, especially in that industry, it is such a pleasure to see them all proceeding in love.
love and peace to you and all,
xxxxxxx
... Спасибо...
❤❤
Wow, I haven't heard this for years. Feeling 14 all over again (but without the spots).
This song was playing on radio when I brought my beautiful son home from hospital after his father abandoned me before his birth 43 years ago, love it but it kills me!
Bitter sweet memories for sure. I hope you went on to find true love for yourself and a great step father for your precious boy 🙏.
@@Jannie- yes I did, thank you ,my son is wonderful!
@@veronicaking5247 fantastic! 🥰
Such a lovely song. Love the Osmonds!❤
Takes me back in time. Good on the day. 1972 the Osmonds.
One of the best music years ever.:. American Pie, Brandy (You're a Fine Girl), Everybody Plays the Fool, Precious and Few, Without You, Long Cool Woman (In a Black Dress), and many more!
I love this song. It makes me think Papa God Jesus and Virgin Mary every step of my life. I never would have made it to 62 without the three of them. Thank you Osmond family for being such a big part of my life with your very beautiful music.
Such a beautiful love song. The Osmonds were under rated for their song writing. I wish they had switched around as lead singer too. Each of them had great voices, and it's a shame we didn't hear more of them.
Yes I agree the Osmonds are awesome singers, Merrill has a great voice to
I've loved the Osmonds for many years, and I love their songs, this song is one of my favorites. ❤
Love this song ❤
Easily my favourite Osmonds song, simply brilliant.
Greatest group of all time
well next to abba right?
lol
Wow... I love seeing Donny's face up close. Actually all of the Osmonds up close!!
You can truly hear the Beatles influence in this song. The way Merril sings is very reminiscent of Paul McCartney. The Osmonds were really extremely talented and very underrated as singers, dancers, musicians, song writers and all around artists.
I can hear the Carpenters in this track as well.
@@nickhall5959I thought that too 👍👍
Gorgeous sound and faces. The Osmonds have it all.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You do know that they don't look or even sound like this now. They grew up and became old like all of us have or will.
@@chainamarie03 Yeah so. We all get old.
@@arinco6944 Isn't that what I said? Guess u don't comprehend English very well.
And teeth!! lol. ALl of them had great teeth in a period of time where the musicians showed their natural teeth, not fake.
Had this on lp as a child. I played it often, as a result, it's pops in to my head every now and then, but haven't listened to it since I was around 6 years old. Brilliant memories associated with the music, amazing lush vocals... thanks for the music, and the great teeth!
I remember hearing this song about 5 years ago, and hadn't heard it for over 45years! What can I say, it brought back a thousand memories of when I was a child in the 70s.😢 I was in bits 😢😢
Beautiful song 🎵 ❤️
I miss them and their wonderful music, but I still play their greatest songs, the music of the time was simply AMAZING,ABSOLUTELY nothing like the RUBBISH we hear now.
My favorite Osmond song. Show tune quality.
Great song, Great band! Merrill is a Great singer! Love The Osmonds!
Beautiful cool song
Meeting them after a concert was one of the highlights of my life. They are brilliant live.
Yes I'm listening. It's a proper goose bumps song.
This song never gets old.
Almost 50 years since the release in 1973 and as moving as it was way back then!
This song always gave me goose bumps! I always enjoyed music from the entire Osmond family, and this, along with "One Bad Apple", " Down By the Lazy River ", " Yo-Yo" were some of my favorites when I was a girl in the 1970's!
Moi aussi, je suis française et ils étaient venus en France pour 2 concerts qui ont marqué mon enfance de fille de 14 ans mais surtout Donny Osmonds
Don't forget crazy horses
That was my younger brothers favorite one!😊@@nickhall5959

Is one of my favourite song by the osmond s and my other favourite love for a reason
i just love the Osmonds merrill always had that sexy raspy voice when he sings. i love how the guys would had texture and harmony to each one of there songs. Merrill and Donny were the 2 i had a massive Crush on when i saw them at Madison Square Garden in NYC when i was just 14 years old. and i am still there #1 fan today. i am 62 and have a 30 year old son who enjoys some of there famous hits as well.
Truly the Osmonds are the original boy band, they sing, dance and play instruments. Everything that Boybands do they've already done.
The osmonds were different class compared to all the so called boybands since them who never played instruments
@@williamsharpe523 absolute truth, their never has been and there will never be another Osmond brothers 5 💙🧡🖤💚💜
Original Boys Band is the Beatles, end of.
Actually, very few Boy Bands write their own music and play instraments.
It still makes me cry
My favorite Osmond song 💙🧡🖤💚💜
It's impossible for me to pick a favorite Osmond Brother song, as they've recorded hundreds, but "Let Me In" would be on my top 10 list !!!
I liked this song. One of my favorite Osmond songs. I was 12 years young back in 1972, when it was released.
You are the exact same age as Marie. Hard to believe that hot chick is now 62. Hard to believe Brooke Shields is 57
I was 10! I knew about them when I was 13; they immediately touched my heart.
Beautiful song xxx i was nearly 7 when this came out xxx
I care not what anyone says., this is a fantastic song ! I loved it in '72, & I love it now. ---------RIP to all Osmonds who have passed. -------------MJL, 76 y/o
They all are still Alive!Alan the oldest of the performing brothers is 73 and has ms for a long time. Some of The brothers has health issues. Merrill is 69 and is going to retire this year! Donny and Marie are still performing.
@@moniquemeerhoff55 He may be referring to their Mom and Dad and didnt Marie lose a child??
If there was one moment in the course of human history that merged two words ..."guilty" and "pleasure"... this was that moment.
I could which and listen to these guys all night, every night. Such talent,
Merrill what a voice 😍....Beautiful song 🎵 Osmonds are the best
Beautiful just beautiful 💟
Good old love songs. Good memories for me.
A wholesome family who as far as I know married and remained faithful to their partners.
Just seen the musical, absolutely fabulous!
I was sooo in love with Donny, even found a boyfriend that looked quite like him ❤
A masterpiece. What sounds like a love song and is actually a song of repentance. Two meanings for the price of one. The Plan is a wonderful album. I wonder what the initial album would have sounded like had the scores not been destroyed in a fire whilst on tour.
Merrill Osmond jay Osmond Donny Osmond Alan Osmond wanye Osmond brother l love❤💙
This the most 70's video ever
