    I wonder what Rogue would have looked like had it been released on VHS, had the format not died back in the early 2000's.

      Glad to help. I can only hope they put out the full series on home video, not because it's particularly great, but so that there's not yet another Star Wars video production that isn't available on physical media.

    You are a hero for picking all these up as soon as they come out.
    You go the extra mile.
    I mean 200 bucks in one go for things you basically own already?
    Don't get me wrong. It's amazing and I envy and marvel at your collection.
    It's just that I'm not as dedicated as you are, though I wash I could be.
    Of course you do it for your personal collection as well as the show which it does wonders for.
    I can always rely on you to be on top of all new releases.
    At least U.S releases and more often than not now, U.K. releases as well.
    Thank you for bleeding out your wallet and sharing your collection with us.
    There is no other channel or website that talks as broadly about this very specific hobby as your show and your book do.
    Just thank you.
    You are truly helping fellow collectors out with these.

    A slip cover in a slip cover? One word: Laziness.

    • @ChronoRadio
      @ChronoRadio  4 роки тому +1

      It's possible it was part of the licensing deal to let the two companies work together on this release, since that would've allowed the new slipcover to be considered WDSHE product, the FOD DVD to be considered a bonus freebie, and yet the rest to still be an old stock (old SKU) for the actual product inside.

    • @ChronoRadio
      @ChronoRadio  6 років тому +1

      Definitely a steal at that price, if you can still find it. One of our Walmarts nearby here never got them, another sold out fast, and the third still has most (but not TFA). The Walmart website still doesn't list them.

  • @darthbriboy
    @darthbriboy 6 років тому +1

    Ashley the great thing about those digital copy codes is no matter how many duplicates of a movie you have you can still put them all in the Disney movie reward points system and you'll get all the points

    • @ChronoRadio
      @ChronoRadio  6 років тому

      That actually isn't true, at least in the U.S. Once you put a product in for DMR points, it has a record of you putting in that product. If you try to do it again, it will reject the code and not let you do it.
      Keep in mind, though, that this is a product by product thing, so the DVD of TFA is a different product from the 3D Collector's Edition, BD/DVD/Digital combo, etc. Essentially as long as it is considered a different product by Disney, then you're fine. But if it's considered the same (such as this DVD reissue and the one from April 2016 for TFA), it won't allow point duplication. You'd have to have a separate DMR account to do another redemption, which won't allow you to accumulate them under a single account for later use.

    More junk you don't really need folks save your money $$$ and buy something else for the holiday's I am happy with the 1982 VHS Star Wars home video release along with the 1997 Special Edition that we had to buy in the trilogy box set the same way with the 2004 DVD release and 2011 Blu Ray The Complete Saga and I did buy the 2006 Walmart DVD comic book single releases to get the original 1977 ' 1980 'and 1983 original trilogy theater versions . I know there is a lot of money that both Disney and Lucas can make by tricking fans to buy this repackage junk over and over again but how many copies of 1977 Star Wars do you need ? .... Its nice that we have Star Wars fan critics out there like Mr. Butler to let us know whats new for Star Wars video releases and keep up the good work Nathan ' congrats on your new book.... What I am saying like most Star Wars fans out there would asked themselves why should we buy this again ? different slipcase or repackage box sets even if they throw in a bonus disc that someday will be sold alone with bonus stuff that you did not get with this bonus disc like what was said here never say never like I have said there is a lot of money to be made over this .... May The Force Be With You All and Merry Christmas ......

    You forgot that Fox was bought by Disney

    • @ChronoRadio
      @ChronoRadio  6 років тому

      First, that hadn't happened yet. (See the date the video was posted.)
      Second, that still hasn't actually happened. (See below.)
      Third, that's a misrepresentation of what's actually in process. (See below.)
      These were released in the first week of December. The deal confirmed less than 1 week ago as of today. In other words, these releases and this video preceded the deal, so of course it wasn't mentioned. It didn't exist at the time.
      The deal has not gone officially gone through yet, as it requires approval by federal regulators, though both parties (Disney and Fox) at this point are in agreement and seeking that approval. That means it will not actually happen for at least a few months at best. Moreover, it isn't Disney buying Fox. Fox still exists as an entity. Disney is buying (if it all goes as planned) all of Fox's TV and movie assets, while leaving the rest of Fox intact (Fox Sports, Fox News, their various print interests, etc.).
      For details on my thoughts on this deal once it actually existed, see ep. 20 of my vlog, recorded once there was such a deal confirmed (or even rumored in credible sources): ua-cam.com/video/erXDMaJaRy8/v-deo.html
      Kinda ridiculous to claim something was "forgotten" that didn't exist at the time, unless we want to go back and start claiming that the Founding Fathers forgot to mention the internet in the Constitution or that a history book written in 1960 forgot to mention 9/11, etc.

    Nathan what is your view of Forces of Destiny? I watched some of season 1 and 2 and don't really see a purpose, especially season 2. Disney seems to be using it to rewrite Star Wars history! Like Season 2 Episode 6, where it is made to seem that Leia meets Maz way back between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. With Maz being the one that comes up with the bounty hunter disguise, like Leia could not come up with that idea? So did Maz come up with Lando's disguise as well! I don't like being skeptical, but it seems like Disney is trying to change Star Wars history everywhere they can. I am not big on kids cartoons being canon.

    • @ChronoRadio
      @ChronoRadio  6 років тому

      They're alright. Some are terrible, most are just passable, and there a few that I think were decent.
      Bear in mind that it's not "rewriting history" to introduce something that hasn't been explained before. In Legends, we got our explanation for Leia's Boussh disguise in ROTJ in Shadows of the Empire, but since that doesnt' exist within Canon, we hadn't gotten an explanation of where the disguise came from until now, just like we don't have the Tamtel Skreej backstory from Legends for Lando's armor like it was in Legends, so Solo was able to give us that background as armor used during the Kessel mission in Solo.
      There's a big difference between changing something in the same continuity as a previous version of that thing, as opposed to simply presenting a different approach to something in a different continuity than where the original idea appeared.
      As far as FoD, I have a bit more to watch before I've wrapped it all up, and I think I need to summarize about 20 episodes still for the final edition of The Star Wars Timeline Gold, then I'll hammer out audio commentaries for Patreon of FoD Vol. 3 and 4 and probably never bother to watch them again.

    • @danielrhodes7594
      @danielrhodes7594 6 років тому

      Technically you are right it is not rewriting history. I, however, do view it as a type of change in history. It is changing how we see the history of the Star Wars Universe. Disney is taking things from their new creations and moving them throughout the time line as they see fix to alter the way we see it or just to scatter their own characters throughout. Changing things or adding things that are not necessary. I understand if you disagree and that is fine. Ten people can see the same car accident and they can all have a different viewpoint or telling of what happened.

    • @ChronoRadio
      @ChronoRadio  6 років тому

      Thing is, you're speaking as if there's ONE Star Wars continuity. There isn't. There are two main ones and a bunch of tangential side ones like, say, the alternate ending of The Force Unleasehd or the Infinities: ANH storyline, etc. You're basically saying, "How dare they actually develop this new continuity at all by actually publishing books, comics, movies, etc. that aren't exactly like the previous continuity?" That's ridiculous.

    • @danielrhodes7594
      @danielrhodes7594 6 років тому

      No I am not, but if you feel that way, that is your choice. I am talking about Star Wars Canon. The thing with Star Wars Canon now days that is different from other things like Batman, Marvel, and even Star Wars prior to Disney is that current Canon is set it stone to a point. Once it is put in Comic, Books, Cartoons, or Movies it is set in stone. It is no longer changeable. They have to find spaces in between to add something that will give more insight, or explain it better. For example, Luke is dead, he cannot come back to life. They cannot or will not make another move that undoes what happened in The Last Jedi. In Batman there are so many variations, timelines, etc. that they do not undo each other, but are just different. The EU had different stories that did not always mesh well together, but it was accepted that way. Now, as I said Disney has Canon. The 8 Star Wars movies are Canon, the new Marvel comics are canon, books are canon, and they are all one timeline. That is what I am talking about, not all the tangential things you mentioned.

      Yes, unless you somehow can get your hands on one of the exclusive bonus items from 2011, and those weren't ever video content. Otherwise, yup. It's definitely better than the 2015 set, since that's exactly what it is but with the extra disc.

      No animation re-releases this time at all, just the initial release of Forces of Destiny, Vol. 1. I have to wonder if that's coming after Rebels ends and we (very likely) get not just a Season 4 set but a full series set. That'd be a perfect (and expensive) time for them to do a re-release of TCW on home video, either coordinated or through Walt Disney Home Video if the rights have transferred. (I don't think they have, but half the time, that kind of thing isn't announced, just noticed later through releases changing hands.)
