@@edjean24if supported properly, I don’t see why it would be an issue. It’s only a thin slab of aluminum. I would hardly consider it extremely structural
Awesome! Love the video man. I also have an 80s Camaro Iroc-Z convertible that I had to replace the fuel pump in. It’s a pain to replace because you have remove the gas tank because the pump is installed on the top of the tank. So I cut an access panel in the floor over the gas tank and easily replaced the pump from inside the car. I was going to make my own panel to seal it up but now I’m just going to buy this panel which will work perfectly. I plan to probably do this panel in my Z06 too like you did but I’ll wait to see if you have any rattle issues with it after some time. Thanks for making this video.
Take a metal punch and dimple the side of the access panel frame to the opening side of the locking arm and that should keep that door lock from opening. The beveled point will keep the arm from accidently opening while driving. They should do that from the place that builds them, to ensure that the panel does not come open. I think a sliding door might have been a better Idea. But never the less, a great product to save time and aggravation. I would also use a hole saw in all four corners when cuting the metal cover to install the door panel, then cut your lines in to those corner's. Otherwise the boxed corners like to crack out from those corners with vibration. Thats why on air planes, windows are round, they found that squared windows would crack out from squard corners with vibration, so they rounded the corners and stopped cracks from happening. I would hate to have to buy a new panel for under the car, because it cracked. Just trying to be helpful guys.
@@kurtvara4918 those are good thoughts especially the punch part. I will have to keep a watch out for cracking . Also like the sliding door suggestion !
