    Fascinating video, and makes me even more keen to try caving. But I had to laugh that a man named Derek Bristol, no less, misnamed the Bristol Channel the British Channel! It's got your name...! X'-)

    I think I saw the back of my head in the bar. We need to get you up north next time you're over, the caves are very different.

    Oh look , Elaine, Frank, Les and Cookie are on telly, hanging out with the famous cavers :-) Looks like a fine selection of the UK's better (southern) potholes.

    Fun video...what a great time you must have had! What was that "light show" in Cox's cave?

    5:12 you should have said 'Bristol Channel', not 'British Channel' as there's no such place. The Bristol Channel is a major inlet in the island of Great Britain, separating South Wales from Devon and Somerset in South West England.
    English = belonging to or relating to England, or its people: Englishwoman, Englishman.
    British = belonging to or relating to the United Kingdom, or to its people (English, Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish) or its culture.
    Great Britain = large (hence great) geographical island in the British Isles containing three small countries: England, Scotland, and Wales.
    United Kingdom = country, the kingdom consisting of four smaller countries: England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
    Englishwoman = me. xx ❤

    Only just put 2 and 2 together that I saw you do the Videography talk at Hidden Earth. I was still quite hungover at the time....
    Was before I got into your videos via the kit reviews and Rope Walking videos!
    How was Lionel's? Last I was in there it was a navigational nightmare but might be better if you have a guide. Needs your surveying prowess clearly.

    Does anyone still use carbide lamps in Britain? My last UK caving was in 1968....:-)

      Didn't see anyone using carbide.

    • @xxwookey
      @xxwookey 4 роки тому +4

      No. And it's banned in quite a lot of caves. Only gets dug out for special 'nostalgia' trips these days. Carbide was still used on expeditions and long camping trips for a decade or so after everyone stopped using it for normal day trips.
