When I did my first top 10 of the base game elden ring soundtrack, I think I had lichdragon fortissax around 10th. He is now top 3 in the game for me at least… it just took some time for me to come around. I have a feeling this is gonna happen with Midra as well (he had already moved up from 8 to 5 from when I recorded this video yesterday) and I’m ok with that. Gives me a reason to keep spamming repeat on the OST :)
@@Nightwalk2I think Fortissax is the best theme in any of their games - it's a tough call and lots of competition, but that second phase just destroys me.
It’s a huge DLC man. I also happen to have a very busy life and tried to get content out without looking up guides… sometimes you miss things. Plus, I kept the same build to have a controlled experience for ranking the difficulty, I’m playing through again trying other builds now.
@medi6892 one of the biggest youtubers in the world went through the entire DLC with his dual great stars. Having the same weapon has nothing to do with exploration of the land.
Yeah, I think people underestimate how hard it is to craft a theme that you never get tired of after hours of hearing it. I look forward to hearing it again every time
Scadutree Avatar is my second favourite boss and favourite ost from DLC. I just LOVE that Erdtree avatar leitmotif that plays at the end of the second phase and at the start of the third.
What sells Radahn’s theme as my favorite is the fact that it’s primary leitmotif is pulled directly from his original theme in the base game, specifically his 2nd phase. It kind of represents the fact that we’ve fought him before and are now facing him again, except this time it’s a fair fight.
@@crossycross6417I think by “fair fight” he meant lore wise lmao, this time Radahn hasn’t been severely damaged by Malenia’s scarlet rot and so can fight in his prime, fairness gameplay wise makes it, an extremely one sided fight lol
Been waiting for you to upload this. Your insight on Gehrman's theme and the final boss first phase theme was an awesome catch, and as you said, I never heard this from anyone. I even think that the second phase of the final boss is the best song from any Fromsoft game. I'd include the dancing lion in my top 10 and probably rank Midra a bit higher. But the entire OST is on another level. There is no bad song in it.
messmer's boss cutscene is now one of my favorites along with lady maria's cutscene and ludwig's second phase cutscene and its made even better with the beginning music
Midra and radahns osts are definitely the new best in elden ring and the first elden ring osts to crack my top favorite fromsoft themes. They just hold such a high bar with da3 and bloodborne and armored core games
Radahn's theme is genuinely so good. The first phase feels like a return of a hero. The second phase actually sounds holy. The final part of the 2nd phase is just fucking amazing. It's definitely my favorite ost in the dlc.
My personal favourite is still the dancing beast ost because it is the only ost in the dlc that when second phase hit and the music ramped up I literally froze in place to just listen to the song. This to say all the themes in this vid is still absolute bangers!
Rominas theme fits more to Messmer giving the fact that this was playing in the Story trailer when Messmer was marching to the scadutree castle and burnt Everything down. But still my fav dlc Theme and a very good and Well done boss😮💨
I think Messmer’s ost is up there with themes of Lady Maria, Slave Knight Gael, and Ludwig as one of the best soundtracks FromSoft has ever made. And thank god it’s attached to such a genuinely exhilarating boss fight
I know stuff is opinion based so there’s no flame/shade meant when I say this. But it’s baffling to me that someone could see the DBDL theme as an ‘honourable mention’. It’s insanely cool and the way the animations of the boss seem to flow and interact with the theme is incredible.
While I did talk about technical aspects of the music, the main thing that guides my rankings is simple: did it make me feel emotions. And the simple answer is, as cool as the theme may be, I didn’t really feel much listening to it. That might change over time. And to be fair, this was ranked only having listened like 3 times to each, these opinions change like crazy over time. God knows my opinions have changed on the other games OSTs

First off, not having the dancing lion theme on the list proper is criminal behaviour. But seriously the DLC soundtrack is outstanding. I especially love how it’s used leitmotifs from the base game for multiple foes. Really isn’t something that happens minus Lawerence, Gwynn and Nashandra (lemme know if I missed something cos I’m stoopid ). Fav is defo Messmer’s theme which has become my new hyperfixation, love how subdued but intense it is and the fact it’s a corruption of the main/Radagon’s theme is fantastic but the final boss theme is beautiful, powerful and iconic. I appreciate the variety in vibes as well it’s not all the usual choral chants, horns and strings (although they’re also here and they’re awesome)
the dancing lion switching between forms in combination with the specific part of the ost where it completely escalates turned the fight into one of my fav ER fights
4:38, strongly disagree on the mixing take, I think elden rings mixing sounds infinetly better than previous titles (probably cause its done by a live choir and orchestra), especially much better than DS3's awful mixing, the by far weakest aspect of that OST (just listen to the wind instruments they sound awful). @@Nightwalk2 yeah maybe. In game I think all the soundtracks sound very clear with amazing balance between the instruments. I didn’t quite realize who I was looking at during that initial shot at Radahn’s boots, until the strings came in with half of the closing motif of the original score. I proceeded to absolutely lose my fucking mind from that point
Those United In Common Cause is one of, if not the greatest musical achievement in the franchise so far (in my opinion) While i love the characters in these games, i have never liked going through their questlines themselves. I think we may all agree that a questline being ruined because you didnt speak to a character in a specific point in time, only to find them dead (or gone) later, is very frustrating and tedious. The quests in this DLC were no different, and i didnt want to ruin them so i checked a guide. It was tedious as usual, but the characters were very likeable (especially Ansbach) Yes i knew the fight was coming, i knew it would be an npc gank which i hate, i knew what characters would be on my side, and what rewards I'd get; so i was just expecting to get it done and move on when the time came. Never did i expect the fight to have dialogue between all these characters, and most definitely didnt expect that incredible music. Without the song, it would have been a cool moment but nothing special, especially since i knew it was coming. But with its inclusion, it elevated this event to being one of my favorite moments in the whole franchise. There might be more grandiose pieces for the bosses in general, like Radagon, the Soul Of Cinder, Gael or Ludwig. Those pieces elevate what is already a great fight into monumental levels. There have also been instances of crappy bosses having bangers, but most dont remember them because its attached to a bad fight. This piece is attached to a lackluster encounter (mechanically speaking), but the way it accentuates the stakes of it, the fact thst most of these characters will die in this fight, it just makes it such an emotional and memorable moment. Thats why this track is so incredible and my favorite in Elden Ring as a whole.
Anyone else's main dissapointment with this dlc the fact we didn't get the theme from the first trailer as a full theme for a boss? Admittedly, there are some parts or Rellana's theme that sound very similar to it, but the fact we didn't get a full version of that theme is going to annoy me for the rest of my life.

Radahn does go crazy though, I remember the first time I beat him, he went into his meteor at the end of the fight, and right when he landed is when that climactic part of the song played from the story trailer and it was so cool
Nightwalk I'll come back to the video later because I still haven't finished everything but did you see Lupines latest one on soundscapes and the ER soundtrack? I think you'd enjoy it.
No I haven't - I don't know that creator, and couldn't see the video, what should I type in?
@@Nightwalk2"How Elden Ring surpassed the Dark Souls OST" by Loopine should get you there
@@Nightwalk2channel name is loopine, very good watch
@@Nightwalk2
Yes channel name is Loopine sorry he changed it and I always use the old spelling.
Nice top, but I would definitely swap Relanna and Midra
