You freeze ... endlessly listening to her wonderful voice and admiring her fantastic musical sensitivity, even the simplest song that passes through her hands becomes fantastic. She is simply unique and with a wonderful melodic perception. This interpretation (not a cover for me) with one of the authors of the song (Toby Gad) playing the piano, is curative for the your soul and the soft background accompaniment of the piano and cello give her a beautiful silky backdrop, until that wonderful whispered final phrase "... but you are just a boy". No need to feel weird about preferring either of Angelina's videos to Beyonce's version (which, by the way, was not the original). Beyonce's version was also a cover of the original by BC Jean. Everyone has their own tastes, and I am sure that there are many people out there who prefer Boyonce's version and would not hesitate to tell you so. The difference, for me at least, can be very simply summed up: when Beyonce sings it, I hear the song. When Angelina sings it, I FEEL the song. Every single word. The performance in the church in particular, is so breathtaking, so majestic, it is the quintessence of everything that is Angelina. Every aspect of her genius-level vocal mastery and her indescribably and incomparably beautiful voice are stunningly showcased here. She herself is a vision of goddess-like beauty, and everything about her simply SCREAMS grace, poise, elegance and class.

Both these covers are glorious but I prefer the stripped down version which lets her voice absolutely shine. Thanks to Toby for asking her to sing this cover of his song for his Piano Diaries album. Toby is quoted saying, “Working with Angelina has been nothing short of inspiring. Her ability to channel profound emotion through her voice adds a whole new depth to the song.” They are also working on other songs for AJ. This will be huge for her. I'm a big fan of Beyonce, but Angelina knocked this one out of the park, maybe beyond the earlier cover. Angelina always reimagines a song, not just covering it. I prefer the PIano Diaries one because of the stripped back accompaniment, but the music video is a wonderful alternative. Thanks for another great Angelina reaction, Omeezy! A cover only in the sense that what Beyoncé made was a cover of the song written by BC Jean and Toby Gad, originally performed by Jean in 2008. Beyoncé's cover was that same year.
In this video the pianist is Toby Gad .. the Piano Diaries are a celebration of his hit songs. He invited Angelina to England with him to perform .. this is the fourth version I have heard. I am not sure if it is really a cover when a singer is standing next to the composer as they jam to create a different version of the song.

Just to let you know, the other co-writer of the song, BC Jean, was the first to sing the song as well as the person the song came from. She had just broken up with the man that she loved. Per Toby, he played it for Beyonce one day and she really wanted to sing and use this song, and the rest you say is history. Angelina and Toby have been working together for a while now and are creating new music for her to sing. They teased a song at a special event called Bad Valentine and it should be coming out within a few months. This collaboration is awesome! The Piano Diaries is Toby's project of other singers singing his most famous songs. Angelina of course is singing this song made famous by Beyonce.

I think Angelinas catalogue is so big already that doing 2-3 at a time is preferred. A-aron is doing all the Fly Me To The Moons , lots of doubles but at different years. This is the first time I visited your channel and there are a few things I agree with you. While I don't like to compare artists as to who is better because it's such a personal preference, I will agree that I prefer Angelina, but then as an Angel I prefer Angelina over all other artists. By the way this is not a Beyonce cover because this song was not written by Beyonce nor for Beyonce. It was co-written by Toby Gad and BC Jean for BC Jean.
