What I dont understand is the fact that they are endangered and nothing was done to assist that dog in those months before he died. I know there are groups in that area that specialize in wounded animals. Its one thing to let nature take its course but another to wait 2 or so months while that dog suffers.. plenty of time to dart him, treat him while he is darted, put a tracker on him and release him. So much for conservation efforts
You're right... You don't understand. Conservation efforts are aimed at preserving habitats so that a species can survive and nature can run its course. It is not about saving individual animals, nor should it be, since resources are limited. We shouldn't turn the savanna into a zoo...

What really happened was he chased the competition away, came back and lions greet each other how they always do. Then he probably went to sleep.
