You're one of the few guys who works on emphasising principles over individual techniques. I really enjoy your stuff.

Love these concept & strategy videos, they really help me put the things I learn during training together. But you could maybe invest in a mic :) I usually watch these on a train and it's hard to understand anything.

chefrobsen its a nice addition definatly will make him hear clear and louder which is important in this videos, but i think its not that necessary from my point of view atleast i can hear and there arent people complaing about that so much

Superb explanation and concept layout. Ive been checking the vids for a while and practicing, being in awe of Judo highlights but now I can get more in depth into watching and analyzing judo fights and appreciate the struggle in the grips. In bjj i see and understand the struggle/beauty in a so call stalled fight because i know the grips represent certain sweeps or submission set-ups. Now this makes me have the same appreciation the Judo comps. Thank you for this
    Great stuff

Can you please explain chest to chest contact for the throws as a basic concept? Is it necessary? I see some people use arm strenght istead connecting chests. Im tall and generally preffer to keep the distance but its pretty hard for me to execute the throw in randori. Thanks!

From what i can say yes, it is. When you push with your whole body, it generates much more force than simply using only arm strength.

Nice video, thank you. Perhaps you could make a video where you go deeper into how to manage to get an advantageous grip, as your opponent will di his/her best to block you. Also I notice you grab ukes arm close to the wrist, but I've learned to grip further up by the underside of the elbow or triceps for better pulling. Any thoughts on that? Keep up the good work please, I really enjoy these videoes.

Concepts are an abstraction that can apply to whatever you are doing... Do this do that, fight for this, put your hand here, etc are not concepts they're tactics or actions...

Hi... thanks for all your videos... they have helped my son and myself tons (we are just starting our Judo journey together). Sorry if my question is too basic but what would constitute a “positional advantage” in the case of both judokas going for a right grip (or left)?

Great video. Are you left handed? So inside or outside position is not as important as creating post or frame with that hand?
