My neighbor had a mare that she thought was hay bound. Turned out the little 2 year old "gelding" in pasture with her wasn't. We watched and waited once a foal was determined by vet to be eminent. Dad was chestnut. Mom was white. Baby came at midnight very quickly before either of us could be there. My neighbor heard a different bickering sound from her monitor and it was mom talking to her new baby. Which turned out to be the prettiest pinto ever! Its a wonderful experience. Enjoy.
Geezohman you are so cool and peaceful. I swore off UA-cam horse subscriptions, but I do watch you! My well trained horse was a very tough customer two and a half years ago. But what I found, I think you will understand, my horse needed to learn trust in me. So it wasn't "training" that I did with her, she was trained already. It was simple groundwork such as yield to touch, allow brushing, backing, pick up her feet, get saddle on and off in peace without being tied. Saddle up, and practice at the mount and then go relax. Go for short ride and end on positive note. That took me a very long time, over a year. You help people so much when you give validation that it doesn't have to be olympic equestrian moment just to love and enjoy our horse. People underestimate how long it takes to really bond with a horse and create that atmosphere that we all desire. God bless you.
Sounds like we are very similar. I get the most out of simple moments, small wins, and whatever puts a smile on my face. Best wishes to you and thanks for watching!
@@VersatileHorsemanship The horse world is very cruel at times, often to people who are simply confused. Facebook and UA-cam are a free for all platform for this. Your channel is the exception. Please stick with it!
Yup! My father and grandfather took me for a ride in the dump truck, in a harvested cornfield. Went into labor very early the next morning. I was 2 weeks overdue, so was more than ready.
When I was 14, I sat up for three nights in a row to watch my friend’s mare foal. At 5:30 in the morning the third night, we were exhausted and went to the house to get coffee. 20 minutes later, we come back and she said the fall. Their instinct is to hold them in until no one is watching.
The average equine gestation is 330-335 days, based on my experience it can easily be one week plus or minus those numbers. And for those the are wondering it’s the fetus the determines the time of birth, not the Mare.
I think your Husband needs his filly named Sheba. He really touched my heart listening to him talk about the losses he's suffered. But! I like you both so I would like to see you both be blessed.
Fascinating vlog. You and Jason are so funny together. I can't wait to see this little baby horsie - but please get to bed and get some rest so you get well Brandy. It's difficult I know as I have averaged 4 hours sleep for months as my dog was very old and frail. Unfortunately I had to get him put down 2 days ago. Lol ! true Mom's know the signs & pain - "Great owners here "
Have u ever used music in the birthing ?
no, this was my first foal. Music wasn't really something I was thinking about.
What happen to the other horse and her foal?
What color is the stallion that breed her?
Donna Youngquist here’s a video of him ua-cam.com/video/3lkIQxqXLuI/v-deo.html
The stallion is beautiful. I can't wait until Nika has her baby. I enjoy your video and all the interesting topic.
I can't go to bed until the mare foals so I wish she would concentrate on the matter at hand.
what about foalwatch-i am in oregon -met alady who has a foal watch kit-she lives in oregon -check on line
I would love to be able to see the birth but if we miss it at least we will get to see the new foal and watch it grow.
It would be nice, but not at the cost of your health or sleep. Seeing a healthy foal is exciting enough! God bless!!
Hey Brandi 🐎 Hey Jason love your horse she's beautiful ❤️ yes I want to see the baby being born.please.will your cell phone work to film?
For our family foal watch meant taking turns sleeping on bails of hay and a sleeping bag. Also the vaginal area gets very loose/saggy and discharge like womans mucus plug
