Man I gotta say, this channel is the best. I immediately click the thumbnail everytime I see an upload. Jay's channel as well yall are just too funny and real 😂 I'd love to work for yall. Learn a TON and work hard with some good guys every day. That would be amazing just wanted to say yall are the best. Glad the channel is growing and growing yall deserve it. I'm praying for all of yall, God bless!!
Sorry for the late release! Was prepping for a storm
I guess that's a pretty good excuse! Stay safe
i hear that! about 60 miles from you guys down by Lake Keowee! been gearing up for it since yesterday!! stay safe!
Be safe!!
I’m just south of Tampa waiting for the storm to pass. Be safe!!
You all have gotten crazyyy rain. Hope all is well. Nearby feeling the rain too. Hope those winds aren’t too bad.
This episode reminded me of some of your earlier series. So funny! Loved it! 👏🏻
Family safety first, better late than never. My prayers are with all of you with the on coming storm. Welcome back John O'.
My favorite youtube channel. Thanks for posting and building .
Be safe, looks like you guys are going to get hammered. Watching from Wilmington so I know what you're going through.
Just got my sashco sample pack. Excited to try big stretch and lexel finally. Thank you both for hooking us up! Stay safe from the storm!
We desperately needed a trip to Jamie’s shop! ❤
All of you stay safe! Hopefully the winds will stay to a minimum but heavy rains can wreak some havoc on the power lines from downed trees. I have, or my brother has prepped for the storm. We already have had power blips the last couple of days due to another rain system. 🤞crossed the power days on - still trying to figure out how to find a generator purchase!
My brother is here at the Modern Retirement Home Build for the first time to help me with the beginning ga of recovery for my hip replacement surgery on Wednesday. He’s impressed with y’all’s skills and attention to details!
Good to see Jono back on site! So glad he had a good one in his bike trip!
Continue to be impressed with the complexity of this build and all hoops you jump through to make things work! Arlo tricks - gotta love em!
Love you guys
I like the new "two man job" feature.
Such a fun series.. love seeing the consistent progress. I’m invested
greetings .this series can be used to teach .great job guys. keep it evolving. Cheers
Stay safe guys! This is the kind of rain event that your kids will be telling their grandkids about. Safety first!
Them some massive footers for a deck, but hey better than to small!
Great video! Love the footings. It's like your building a house or something!
You guys are trending all over the UA-cam DIY renovation community. You were praised multiple times in comments on Jenna Phipps channel. I personally recommend you in my comments on other channels. ❤ Perkins Fan ❤
This video did not appear in my feed. I had to scroll to playlists and then found it. Added 8 days ago? Huh
They were preparing for storm
Not sure what you are seeing, my feed shows the video was put out an hour ago, so how did you magically see it 8 days after it was released, but also leave a comment two hours before it was released.
Wind uplift is the reason for a large footing.
Ain’t no party like a perkin party!
Will be vacationing in Bryson City in 2 weeks. Seeing the area through your channel made me want to see it in person.
Bryson City is a charming little town. Hope you enjoy it!
You guys could really use some of your own heavy equipment. You know, Andrew Caramata of the Container Castle fame tested one of the cheap Chinese excavators... and he said it was well worth the $4,000 - $5,000 price tag. You guys could find LOTS of uses for something like that.
why i carry a huge battery pack... can start 10 or so f450s... easy to start any equipment
Good luck with the storm gents! I'm to your east in Winston-Salem and caretake an old millhouse on a lake. I've been draining the lake for days!
I’m not familiar with scaffolding manufacturers, but I’m sure one of them is watching and in like two videos you’ll have a ton of free scaffolding sent to you just after you needed it 😂😂
Jay & Ray building a house on BrokeBack Mountain.
There’s a lot of high work to be done on that house with topping out the sheathing and framing the roof. I would highly recommend renting an articulating boom man lift .
It will be worth its weight in gold. It will give your bodies a break and it will be much safer.
Do you guys have to adhere to a nailing schedule on the exterior sheeting? On some of the builds i have been involved with the nailing schedule was every three inches as im guessing the nails help add to the shear strength? Thanks!!
Hope y’all don’t get too flooded out this weekend! Some models are showing a ton of rain in the mountains with the hurricane
Alright so we need Arlo or someone else to explain why and how that diagonal works.
Pro Tip: May need some pump jacks or a JLG
@PerkinsBuilderBrothers I’d be concerned putting those deck footings on fill dirt. Those are likely to settle. Need to drill to virgin ground and pour pillars!!!
They explained in one of the first videos the entire site is engineered fill. It’s good to go
Yeah the homeowner owns an excavation company, so he prepped the site himself and has an engineer's stamp on it.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Be safe during the storm!
Eric love the pink crocs
Had to find this in the playlist, gents. YT is still saying it's unlisted.
I'm in the same boat, I was like what the hell I know they wouldn't miss an upload
Usually available on Thursdays around 9 am on the playlist but isn’t really released yet. They’re having major storms from hurricane helene so may be something to do with that on their end
For me, it says uploaded 1 minute ago, lol.
@@alzuu1 it just released to the public
Wow 15 minutes since the video dropped and already 3000 views but only 450 likes 😢. Guys you all need to hit the like button more,l. The guys need all the love to increase the reach and reach the 2 mil mark I hope by Christmas 🤞
It’s a 24 minute video… give people at least 24 minutes 😂
Haha are those pink crocs @ 7:32 ?
Looked for this before I posted it. lol
Y’all need a Lull horribly
Love the videos but heads up your "MEGA Sized Modern Home" playlists is super wacked out of order.
Try hitting the shuffle button. I did that to mine and now they're in chronological order. May or may not help you, but worth a try.
Hope tropical storm Helene doesn't do too much damage. I know this upload was filmed weeks ago.
It’s now a cat 4 we are taking a beating down here on the west coast of FL
get some k to put on top of scaffolding but you probably want to be harnessed - a 20 ft fall is not fun, the picks will improve coverage - not as good as a scissorslift but you do what you have to do - next job like this you will budget it in - with efficiencies improvement it probably evens out #paid by the hour
k ?
We use our tool batteries to jump, off dead vehicles. Works great.
Extra pennies suggested to have.😊
JLG...not scaffolding.
MST Fiberglass Rebar...plastic wire ties.
We're guys, so...
I keep a little dirt under my pillow for the dirt man
Incase he come to town (what)
I keep a little dirt under my pillow for the dirt man
So he won't take me down
To his lair deep under the mountain (what are you talking about)
Underground that's where he keeps his dirt
We're not builders but we're building our own house, for the most part, by ourselves. It can be very overwhelming each time we face the next phase of the project and have to learn how to actually do the job pretty much from scratch! Watching your videos over the years and seeing you take on bigger and more complex projects has been so empowering. Even though you guys are pros and totally know what you're doing, you're always stretching yourselves to take on the next big project that goes beyond your experience level and doing it with grace and utmost integrity and workmanship. When you make a mistake you admit it and just rip it out and do it over again, explaining everything about it as you go. I really appreciate you guys' integrity and commitment to excellence. Watching all your videos over the years has given me the courage and encouragement I need to do the same things myself. Just do my research, do all the prep work, assemble the supplies I need and get the job done.
Last week my husband and I trenched in and installed the conduit and then pulled in the wire to wire our 220 amp shop to the 400 amp meter base. We've never done any electrical before, so I warned the inspector about that and asked the him to really look over our work with a critical eye to make sure to catch anything we didn't get right. As he looked everything over I stood there with my notebook to write down everything I was sure he would tell me we had to fix, but he said, "great job, you got everything right and you passed." I was elated! We saved ourselves a thousand bucks and now we've decided to wire the shop and the whole house ourselves, hiring a retired electrician friend of ours to come over to double check everything carefully before we call in the inspector. I figure we'll save at least twenty grand by doing all that ourselves (we live in a very expensive part of the country!).
Anyway, thanks for the inspiration and for all the detail you go into to explain everything you're doing and why, the potential pitfalls, best practices, etc. I've learned SO much from you guys, and we're going to end up with a $500,000 house for half that because of it. AND, you're entertaining on top of it, LOL. You guys are the best!
Keep it rolling champ.
@@marshalltille7770 Thanks.
Pythagorean theorem is your friend while building. It is actually very simple.
Classic intro! Reminded me a little bit of the movie "Titanic". "I'm the King of the Build!!!"
Crazy complicated house! They shouldve heard of perkins at scaffold! Best builders in Bigfoot country
Hold on Hold on... You did an add for the leaf blower.... REALLY GOOD BY THE WAY.... and the guy using it... IE JASON.... you didnt even ask his opinion or what he thought of the blower??? WHATS THAT ABOUT!!!!
Came here to watch Stud Pack working with you weeks ago, excellent channel, excellent crew. Stud Pack must have gained you many subscribers!
Whenever you call out dimensions, I find myself repeating them out loud, habits don't stop at 5PM...!
My favorite UA-cam channel. Hello from Libya
It’s amazing you don’t have 20 guys building this monstrosity!
Good luck with the storm guys, waxhaw here, we'll probably get missed as usual 🤷♂️
Ray says "Why would you bother calculating anything?"
RE: Dead Battery... I always forget I have AAA 🙃 but if need a jump, they'll come out w/ portable battery (size of a big toolbox) to jumpstart any vehicle. So if any of you guys have AAA, call them - b/c each AAAmember gets 4 service calls a year --- might as well use em!
Didn't think I could like Jamie anymore than I already did... But then I saw the Honda Accord in his garage. He knows what's up.
The problem with Vevor tools/equipment is that they have no spare parts. None. Zero.
Once your tool (or anything you buy from Vevor) breaks, it's trash. There are NO parts available.
Thanks PBB and Sashco for the sample kit, much appreciated.
Erick you are right ... I live in a 100-year-old 24x24 hip-roof house with 8-foot ceilings, and 2 6x12 enclosed porches, and I wouldn't want anything larger to heat or to maintain.
Hey guys. Any chance the videos being longer or increasing the upload frequency? Keep safe
Cross country! I ran cross country. My best 3.2m was 15:52 back in 1995
Hows everything going since the zip system drama? Was watching how much they leak
Curious, Jamie how puckered were you? on that cliff.
PRO TIP HACK: to jump your truck or equipment, get a Dewalt battery and two pennies and a set of jumper cables. Slide one penny into the far left slot and one into the far right slot of the battery terminals. They have positive and negative indicators on them. Then hook the jumper cables up. Walla.
Lol, My family and I participated in one of those extreme makeovers in PA. They definitely tear down and build a new house in a few days. Very crazy stuff.
Jamie, if I help you build your next handrail in person and teach you fabrication/welding, will you teach me in person to build the stairs
And people were actually shorter. The size of military uniforms from the Revolutionary War to the Civil War to WW1 and then Vietnam, show that we grew a foot taller in just 200 years.
Yep, Ashville to get inches of rain as nd wind Thursday - Saturday from Hurricane Helene. Should test your drainage and structural integrity of the project! 😮
Get the house wrapped with scaffold… save the owner thousands of dollars…
Why couldn't you use precast concrete flooring and and topped off with wet concrete.for the garage.
Good luck and stay safe to all in harms way of the storm. That build just keeps getting bigger and bigger.
4 bars at 80, …. All I hear was we’re going to 4 bars tonight and spend $80 bucks each. 😂
Jamie "King" of the better looking at it than for it Concrete club.....lol
Johno went to Sturgis, SD? Did he stay at Buffalo Chip?
clip in more pop cultural videos here and there like you did with the "move that bus" reveal. hilarious!!!! 23 hours lmao
Poor Ray! Ouch 🤕 😂. Bet you won’t let that happen again. Poor thing.😊
Eric u gotta make Jay get that finger fixed. What’s he thinking?!?!
Have y'all thought about using a man lift instead of all the scaffolding shifting? Also what happened to the rebar tie gun? 😂
I wish you guys were looking for another Arlo. I would love to work with Jay and Ray to learn how it is really done. Luv u guys…..Durham
Rather than double decker rebar try bundling the bars for added capacity. All the tension in the footing is at the bottom, not the middle.
Just flew into Orlando this afternoon. Oh how I missed this weather 😂
Should have rented scaffolding!!
Thanks. This will make my day better. Love you all
Ahh yes. Digging silt out another hole already filled with rebar after 10” of rain
Thought I was going mad when I saw this pop up, stay safe folks. Great timing, got just enough time before I go to bed to finish this video.
Hello from Australia, you guys are doing a great job. I am enjoying the videos and you guys are having way too much fun, so what do you put in your coffee in the morning please?
that rebar works.. just did a 6 foot deep pour for a ID ... the equipment that sat on top was 30 tons...high fiber to boot
My old house had 13 foot ceilings but it was built back in the days of open fireplaces and gas lighting so it served a purpose. 👍
Love seeing you guys tackle more and more, like the concrete and a little dirt work.
Love the bright pink crocs! We are at 13 inches down in Brevard
Concerned about Jason, he is losing so much weight he looks half his size he was 6 months ago. Jay, stay safe God bless you
Going to keep that string squaring tip in my back pocket…what’s a a beauty to see
Maybe check into renting or buying a telehandler with a basket to work out of . They are very universal on a job site.
Be safe guy's and thanks again for sharing. Have a lekka weekend.
17:59 if you guys had an articulated boom lift there this phase of the project was done already!
Get you a metal cutting circular saw blade. Hilti makes one that would cut that like butter.
Eric- not Justin’s, but why do you no longer drive your truck? Is it due to your long commute?
Love the videos! Awesome work on those footings. Stay safe in that weather!
Yall need to get straps working that high up before someone gets hurt
