Coleman as a player was long before my time, but I was 14, opening round 1973 Essendon v Richmond. A minute's silence was observed in Coleman's honour, his death being just a week or so earlier. A packed and silent Windy Hill was austere and unforgettable. As for the game, an awful man called Kevin Sheedy kicked the Tigers' winning goal.
I need to research more about the Coulter Law. Fascinating to hear that Fanning chose Hamilton and their "riches" over the big time. What I'd give for a vid showing full Dons matches during Coleman's reign. Wow, that story about Coleman at the Tribunal... Dogs (and Roys) drew huge crowds before migration forced their supporter bases out to the suburbs, which were never replaced. So interesting to see that the Century of Football was commerated. Never heard of games being rescheduled before....Fascinating
(Pressed send by mistake) That footy card story is so interesting. As to the Smith situation...I'd wondered why they dropped off so precipitously in 65 and there's the answer.

@Hana Jinks. Glad you're enjoying the series. I'm trying to throw as much info in as I can about all the side stories. Thanks for your interest!
