I have been searching for a lot of youtube channels about how to improve English, untill I found out this awesome channel!!!!! Congratulations Adam!!! claps for you and greetings from Peru!!
I am a native English speaker but have always wondered what it’s like to not be and try to learn. Very enlightening to understand what others don’t know when in your own bubble it’s common knowledge. Really shows you a different perspective and I love it!
Hello Adam, after having taken my C1 exam and having been awarded the certified mark for the level, I'd like to thank all of you who have helped me, with your amazing lessons, to catch up on all the forgotten grammar from years of absent study. I must say that I'll continue to visit your UA-cam lesson Chanel. However, I don't want to miss the opportunity to appreciate your work and the great benefit that I have received from all of your lessons. Keep up your good work!
The best and most humble teacher I ever seen. You're brilliant Adam! I wish I could retribute all the good lessons you provide on your channel. Thank you so much
Your videos inspired us like always been because it related to real life and things around us every day. Many people (expat ) living in English countries but they can't engage with culture and history. Good luck to those with the language they are learning peace ✌️
Extremely interesting and yet so true. My wife and I met a couple that migrated to Canada from Sarajevo back 1997 and they were taking ESL; but were frustrated by what they were being taught from how people actually spoke english using sayings and slangs. My wife and I really enjoyed teaching them what the expressions and slang really meant and where the saying were from in the current culture of Canada eh. Thank you Adam. I really enjoyed your video. 10/10
One of the most useful English as second language channels 👍 Must know tips for ESL learners. Knowing the culture to learn slang, idioms, and phrases is great and necessary. We can also search for categories of idioms in a culture like 'food idioms', 'animal idioms', 'sports idioms', etc.
I have been learning English since I've discovered English engvid on UA-cam. Your lessons are great and easy to understand. I love watching your teaching videos. All teachers on engvid are my favourite. Each one of you has wonderful tips and techniques that are applied in order for the students or learners catch up the lesson. Anyway, I'm from Philippines English beginner learner 😊
Great great Tips. I've been watching "Suits" for a while. You can see exactly this happening. Sports, movies and more. Thanks Adam! Marco from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
You are a very talented person, Adam. U did the right thing when u decided to become an English teacher. Never stop teaching plz. Thx for the video btw👍
Hello Adam... I completly agree. Every languages have their history, evolution and context (places, time, events, etc). Native speakers know this, but not foreigners. So, ¿what is the solution?... You said it: paying atention, listening, reading newspapers, making contact with native people. In general speaking, in my country, a visitor has many problem to understand us, because all the time we are creating new words and new expressions...
I think Adam made a very interesting point that most English teachers either don't care about or are afraid to teach. Books, as he said, have a very specific vocabulary that in most cases will only be used when having a conversation of that certain topic, references and slangs should be taught in regular English classes so the students can get used to the real way people talk... There are obviously thousands of these references or slangs but they do help a lot. I would personally recommend Urban Dictionary for those type of things, there's a lot of useful information in it.
Duuuude, you’re the best teacher! Your teaching skills are awesome 👏 I appreciate your effort. I’m all over urban dictionary now. It’s got nasty bad words though 😆
Thank you for the lesson. It has been great! It's great to have people like you, people who are teaching us every day. I love watching movies and reading books, so I will try to learn more and more expressions every day. It's a little complicated to remember everything, but I think the exposure will do fine to us. Thanks!
In spanish we have a similar expression for "The ball's in your court", in spanish, we have: "La pelota está en tu tejado" it means: "The ball's in your roof" very similar expression.
