    Extremely heavy and the medalist?
    The medalist is pretty light to me!
    Great video as always Mr. Ganzonony, I’m glad my briefly owned Jiffy is being used now by another photographer! Great entry level medium format camera.

      It's a nice camera. I was pleasantly surprised by how well it cleaned up once I took the front fascia off and used some q-tips and 90% alcohol. I have a video on my channel going over how I cleaned it up. They're good basic cameras. They were initially designed for those who wanted a basic kodak, but didn't want to be caught carrying around a BOX. (ie: cost-conscious, image-conscious type.).

    My cousin passed a few years ago. He was an antique dealer and his wife asked me to try sell a bunch of things and this camera is one of them. Its not quite the same, it has a silver stripe type of patern goin across the front, maybe a different model and i dont think the shutter works properly. I flipped the lever a few times and it opened a few times, but then stopped. There r 4 screws on the front, im tempted to open it up to see if its stuck or something. Would u recommend that? Thanks for the tutorial. Now i know what i have. She gave me a bunch of cameras and equipment and now i have to find out what each item is. Thanks

      I got it for about $3 in Rochester. It's basically a brownie that collapses on itself, and has simple focusing. I'm going to do a video on cleaning the lens housing and viewfinders very soon.
      I really like this camera. It's a welcome change from the technical and optical tour de force that is the medalist. I just have to not make so many double exposures.

    What should you do if it doesn't pop out when you push the release? Before I default to just yanking at it.

      Teflon Lubricant gently applied to the push button mechanism and gear teeth, don't get any on the Bellows. They're paper based and may degrade.

    Hello I found one of these in my mom's trunk. It still has film in it. Can the film be developed?

    • @ganzonomy
      @ganzonomy  7 місяців тому

      Yes. The film is 120 film. Take it to a decent lab, let them know it's 120 specification, let them develop and scan, and ask for the spool back.
      Enjoy!

      See this. This is for a brownie Hawkeye, but the basic mechanics are the same once the back is opened.
