We got to see this family in Cary at colonial baptist church. This is a multi-talented family. Great stage presence. practice what they preach. Would not collect any money on a Sunday for their CDs and DVDs which i thought was refreshing (because of New Testament teaching) I 've never seen any other groups in the business stick to the Bible regarding exchanging money in God's House.
The Hymns from Home cd is a live recording from the dvd. Also, the dvd has behind-the-scenes features. On their website's homepage, they have a behind-the-scenes video you can watch.
I love their voices and the hymns that they cover. But why would they change some of the words to this song? The original lyrics were Scripturally sound there was no need to change them.
The Collingsworths did not change the words. Those words are in the "Wesleyan" hymnals - the others are in the "Calvinistic" hymnals. I believe it was changed by a hymnal editor decades ago to emphasize the Wesleyan/Armenian position about grace. Here is a statement from Wikipedia - The following version appears in Nazarene hymnals and those of the Holiness movement. It replaces "wandering" with "yielded," and "prone to wander" with "let me know Thee in Thy fullness". Hope that helps.
psalmofpraise, did you get to meet the Collingsworth family after the concert? I've never been to one of their concerts before but have always wondered if I would even get a chance to talk to them afterwards.
I did a little bit. I've gotten to speak more extensively with them after previous times that I have heard them. The arena was being cleared when I was visiting with them after this time around, so my visit was rather abbreviated. If you do go to one of their concerts (which I highly recommend), they are very accessible afterward.
Great! I figured you would be able to talk to somebody because of how many of them there are. However, I know you probably have LOTS of people wanting to talk to them.
Elizabeth Williams But if you are willing to wait your turn, you will have your chance! :-) The daughter of one of my cousins is dating one of Kim's nephews, and an older brother of said nephew used to sing with my cousin's group (the cousin whose daughter is dating the nephew). Fun to have those connections! I really hope you get to hear them soon!
