My profile picture is of my father and I in his Pete 352 back around 1988. He taught me how to drive in it when I could reach the pedals! Those old Petes will always have a special place in my heart, and seeing one as well-maintained as this puts a smile on my face.
Also, good job keeping the wheelbase reasonable! Stretching them out completely eliminates the main advantage of a cabover.

Skipping a 'tug' test got me to lose a good local job offer on an inspection and road test even though I bent down under the trailer with a flashlight to visually see the kingpin locked AND going only going FIVE mph. over the speed limit on a wide open blvd. that also got me check marked, and thats with 18 years of experience and no preventables, and an otherwise stellar road test. Annoys me to this day..Robert at 67.

You know, I was about to comment about the same thing, didn't know if the tires were flat, lights were out or if some homeless people were sleeping in the trailer or if the doors were even closed,, 🤔 not to mention if it was damaged from a swift driver trying to park in the area

  • @Mrbest-cw9nn

Every trucker should know when you hook up to a trailer you give it that tug test this guy did not do it luckily the trailer did not fall out even though you hear the kingpin lock on the fifth wheel you still have to give that tug test to be on the safe side even though you've been driving for 50 or 60 years don't make a rookie mistake

Ya cooler behind ya head is not a good move. After 50yrs an 8 to 10 million miles ive seen odd things happen and some hurt a bit. If you're truck was a white road commode coe that cooler would be weightless because they road so rough if it weren't tarped down it would orbit inside the cab. My brother and I ran double alot and we had to switch to a coe white freightliner road commode as we called it one trip from Winston Salem to New Hampshire unload then to LOS ANGELES and we had to use a big rubber strap just to hold cb on the dash. Everything else we just left in the floor because we knew sooner or later it would be back where it belonged. We had alot of fun back then. My best friend, my brother passed away in 2012 at the Mt Morris P.A. truck stop. I'm retired an Live alone an think of those fun times very often. Travel safe friend.
