Busana Melayu

Busana Melayu had evolved since the Melaka Sultanate in the 15th Century. According to Yasmin Siddik in her thesis, during the Melaka Sultanate, there has been regulations imposed on the proper way for a person to wear their attire based on one social status in the society. Other than that, the influence from the attire of the merchants from country such as India, China, Arab and Portuguese had also involved in the evolution of the Malay traditional attire. In conjunction with the International Museum Day 2022 Celebration, we will introduce you to some of the Malay Traditional Attire from the state of Selangor, Perak, Johor, Malacca and Pahang.
Busana Melayu dikatakan mula berkembang semenjak daripada Kerajaan Melayu Melaka pada abad ke 15. Menurut Yasmin Siddik didalam kertas kerjanya, beliau menyatakan bahawa pada zaman Kerajaan Melayu Melaka telah terdapat satu peraturan khusus mengenai cara berpakaian iaitu mengikut taraf dan kedudukan masing-masing. Selain daripada itu pengaruh daripada cara berpakaian negara-negara luar yang dibawa oleh pedagang-pedagang luar seperti India, Cina, Arab dan Portugis turut mempengaruhi perkembangan rekabentuk pakaian Melayu pada waktu itu. Sempena sambutan Hari Muzium Sedunia 2022, kami menampilkan beberapa jenis Busana Melayu Tradisi daripada beberapa buah negeri seperti Selangor, Perak, Johor, Melaka dan Pahang.
