Omprakash Valmiki (30 June 1950 - 17 November 2013) was an Indian writer and poet.[1] Well known for his autobiography, Joothan, considered a milestone in Dalit literature.[2] He was born at the village of Barla in the Muzzafarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. After retirement from Government Ordnance Factory he lived in Dehradun where he died of complications arising out of stomach cancer on 17 November 2013.

This isn't just story of Valmiki's life rather its story of thousands of those people who suffer a lot just because they are from scheduled castes. They suffer on social , political and economic all the fields. This isn't something that can finish just by saying rather it needs to be implemented. It is only possible when the mentality changes. It isn't about literate or illiterate people rather all depends on "MENTALITY." Which for sure needs to be changed.
