In retrospect, New Gen does still lack the production value of the previous generations (mainly Early Heisei). I don't exactly blame Tsuburaya, with the changes from the previous era. They have to adapt to the competition, so aspects like the toys are to be expected. However currently its one of the more outstanding Toku series compared to the other franchises. Despite having various low points, the highs in the low points still stand out. New Gen may not be the Ultraman like the previous Ultraman shows, but the fact that even the worse ones still allow Tsuburaya to experiment their work while also beating the other competition is impressive.

The entire reason why New Gen seems to have less production value is because it does. Early Heisei was such a pioneer in Tokusatsu tech and value that each episode was basically its own movie in budget and they were almost constantly in the red. By the time of Ultraman Mebius, a universally beloved Ultra Series, it had value through the roof but it borderline bankrupted Tsuburaya because the costs was so damn high that mounted over the years.
Orb: uses fusion because he lost his origin form🥺 Geed: he lost his early form, because he stayed in buman body for *LITERALLY 19 YEARS😭🙏* Z: bro died💀
I think its really great that they're really pushing for a global audience. All new shows are subbed in multiple languages, have an english dub, and is free on UA-cam
5:44 Orb lost his base form, Orb Origin, and thus he needed the fusions to help him cover up. Geed was too young, and only got his “base form” later in Ultimate Final. Yes the concept of fusions has been reused probably to death rn. And they probably shouldn’t have done Geed RIGHT after Orb to have 2 fusion ultra back to back, but I would say all three fusion shows were unique enough to warrant them being made.
I haven't seen a alot of New Gen series for myself yet, but as someone who is too familiar with KR i think that the Ultraman "toys" problem really comes down to the fact that not all of the directors know how an Ultraman henshin scene should flow. Like, compare it with KR for example. Modern KR belts are way more obnoxious, they even have a billion things you need to push and flip in order to activate, but somehow the scene still flows more natural when you're watching the show. Not to mention how after the first couple henshins, they just straight up shorten the transformation as a whole. I do think Blazar and Arc are doing transformation scenes really well tho, removing the inner space does make a lot of difference.
Agreed, Ultra henshin was never as elaborated as KR & Sentai, so it's bit jarring transition around new era, especially compared to their respective showa & heisei shows. R/B is especially bad with it since the toy need to pull the lever thrice in slow sequence which just unnecessarily prolong the henshin scene (I still like the show but have to skip the henshin sequence sometimes) Blazar & Arc is exactly what I expect of modern Ultra henshin should be: a transformation done in real time.
I agree that Z and Arc are the better Ultraman TV series from the New Gen lineup. Dropped Taiga and Trigger after the first few episodes. I'm currently 5 episodes into Blazar but like you said, I feel like it's missing something that would make me like it as much as Z and Arc.
This is one of the best videos that you made as you showed that you still give credit to the new gen shows while accepting changed opinions from you. New Generation Era is a very interesting era in that the process of improvement is slower and needs more time taken but through ingenuity and the need or force to do something different, risky, and flexible, Blazar paved a way for a grand improvement or should i say its own KR W that shows "yea, they are fully better"
i thought Ultraman Trigger show would take place in the same universe as Tiga and years later after Tiga events ended, but Trigger is only an alternate universe Tiga that follows basically the same plot from Tiga Final Odyssey but adding stuff to make a show. i felt they just used Tiga's name to advertise this series bcs there is nothing related to Tiga's original show.
In my opinion i think New Gen Ultraman/Reiwa Ultraman is slowly getting better. You have to remember that the productions of these show were not great especially the early days of New Gen Ultraman. And Tsuburaya at that time were also not doing so well. But slowly the productions and the quality has improved bit by bit. It's still a long way to go but i believe in the near future New Ultraman shows will just be as good as Heisei and Showa show Ultraman.
great video! im actually a big Z fan and you have point,, new gen really does lack the production for like newer and previous generations,, heck, i almost** watched the whole heisei reiwa and most of them bore me. (Example: Trigger) nice video after all!!
I feel like Tsuburaya should realized that there is a big portion who watches Ultraman are a lot older. So instead of trying to pivot the writing to more childish, they should find a good middle ground where young kids and older fans can enjoy the show. When I came back to Ultraman, the first few new gen. shows was a hard watch. Some shows was excruciating cringey and because of that I thought that was the path of Ultra shows from then on. Thats why when I watched Z, it was surprisingly great. The writing was good and the characters didn't seem too one dimensional. It really seemed Z was trying to break away from the previous show formulas. I would say currently the past two ultra shows are getting better at writing and directing. I hope it continues on this path.
Honestly, i could say New Gen Ultraman isn't bad rather it suffers from a possible burnout with some other shows as the quality seems to dip then recover. Blazar to Arc being an example
In my opinion, it's an alright era some ups and downs and all. I would say that the new gen does help with experimenting different fight choreography, camera work and visuals to make upcoming shows better. Sure, they only take like a few seconds to transform but if you think about it, if you bought that and "transformed" with it a few times, it's going to get boring quick but for the new generation one you can do some awesome transformation sequence which would not only feel more amazing but also getting more of that feeling. Second, I love how they can interact with one another with words instead of just staring each other down or simply grunting at each other. Third, I like the added humor into the show. @@inain_ Well I'm more into Heisei Ultraman but i like all eras equally.
@@Ad1tputra yea thats cool, i was talking about mega red guy, the original poster (OP)
Blazar peaked at Nijikagachi. The finale ruins the entire show. @@Ad1tputra
new gen really suck big times… the last best ultraman was mebius… anything afterwards just defeats the purpose of ultraman…
imagine seeing the host transforming for 30seconds and still not yet showing the ultraman on screen and what not their finisher 🙄 heisei has less bullshit and straight to the point… then second half of the show later they cutting less video clip of transform scene and straight to the fight scene… it just shows how time consuming the whole episode becomes…
and still haven’t count on new finisher or new transform, another wasting time scene and they dont look like their original form purpose and go out of topic and screw everything plug ugly 🚩
lastly is their identity reveal part 😑 heisei ultraman revealing themselves like wow but in new gen, its like ok 🫤
"the last best ultraman was mebius"
I think you underestimate the amount of fans Zero has..
@@xanthuschew8715 no, new gen doesn’t sucks. You probably didn’t watch one of them completely. And you are an idiot to think that the last best ultraman was mebius. Anything afterwards doesn’t defeat the purpose of ultraman. That 30 second thing is only geed and zero problem. The rest that you said doesn’t make any sense
No, new gen ultraman doesn’t sucks. The last best ultraman wasn’t mebius exactly. Anything afterward doesn’t defeats the purpose of ultraman. And the 30 second toy stuff only happens before blazar
