Are you hep to: Barry's 6th and diminished scale in the key of "C" ((C,D,E,F,G,G#/Ab,A,B) 1,2,3,4,5,b6,6,7) can also be used with a I (Root/Key) Augmented chord C+ ((C,E,G#) 1,3,#5) , Cmajor7#5 ((C,E,G#,B) 1,3,#5,7) , Am7 first inversion, with A being the root ((C/E,G,A) 1,b3,5,b7), AmMaj7 ((A,C,E,G#) 1,b3,5,7) or, for the case of Barry's explanation, the I tonic 6th chord C6 ((C,E,G,A) 1,3,5,6), and the II diminished 7th chord ((D,F,Ab,[Cbb]/B) 1,b3,b5,bb7, usually referred to as dominant because it stems from the V chord in the harmonized scale; When inverted with a b9 accidental, ((G,B,D,F,Ab) 1,3,5,b7,b9 becomes G7b9 second inversion ((D/F,Ab,G,B) for piano. In most jazz circles, it was merely played as a rooted or rootless 7b9 chord for guitar. So Am7, G7b9. This is also where the origin of the ii,V,I progression was utilized with dominant 7th chords in sounding like you knew how not to play your instrument by using modal interchange. L.abor O.f L.ove...
Let's get technical about it. I don't think anyone really cares I called it a "review" instead of a "comparison." You obviously understood what was meant...
I've been playing Assisted Living Facilities for several years and I got the CASIO PX-160 day one! It ROCKS. I play classical music and ragtime and the sound is AMAZING. I have practically stopped ever using a facility's piano (even BRAND NEW Baby Grands). Thrilled with the feel of the action and the sound is spot on for a Bosendorfer (that was the main sampling). I have played on a Bosendorfer in Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis...AMAZING. Only problem is it is far north of $100K!!
Hi Kris. My local music store has the P45 for sale at 499. But I bought a Alesis Recital. Mainly for the light weight. And easy transport to and from jams. It is the white model. But will have to use my phone to download the owners manual. The Yamaha and Alesis both are the same because they use the keys for transpose, reverb etc.
First of all, you play amazingly well. Like I was thinking about bringoing my crap back to the store. Hats off to ya! I have a PX and its great feel and the acoustically is fine but there is something about the analog out that just sounds electronic. I have been thinking about running it thru an eq to cut a little 3K or something, then I tried a buddy's yamaha at a jam and it sounded great. Casio wins on feel and sound details but that thing I'm hearing is making me nuts. Anyone else get that when you plug in? I have wondered if it is the fact that the yamaha is a line out but the casio is a headphone out. Any thoughts?
i am new in learning about piano or keyboard. Does anyone know about the "noise" from the keys?? Do all the piano/ keyboard always have the noise from the keys? thanks for answering this question :) nb: sorry for my bad english.
Charles Mahono all pianos both digital and acoustic have some noise in its keys, but I have tested both pianos in the video and the Casio one is a lot noisier and it's very annoying
Does anyone know what's the problem with my PX160? When I play a Bb just before the middle C, I get an extra note when I lift my finger off the key. Could it be dust accumulating under the key? Or is it something else?
The Casio notes just have better clarity, they appear to be able to breath better than the Yamaha notes. Not sure why that is, considering the source for the Yamaha samples, but the Casio just generally sounded better in real life.
Does anybody know what type of speakers he's using? I'm thinking of getting a p45 but can't get any straight answers anywhere on what speakers to buy. I know that nice crisp sound is not from the built in speakers, but the external speaker amplifying it. If anyone knows what speakers he's using or any good, yet economically friendly, speakers please let me know.
This performance put the stands as well as the pianos through their paces. What is a cheap but stable stand for standing play? With that Casio, the stand is wobbling so much the player is never going to be sure the key is going to to be in the same place next time they need it, lol.
Wow. You played really well, and the only recommendation is that you sort of slapped the keys a bit too hard. Apart from this you are a truly immaculate player
The Casio px 160 is hands down the best value if you're a beginner. Best action for the money. When you get as good as this guy only then look to spend more money on a high end piano. Then keep the Casio as a nice rehearsal piano. Never spend too much money when you're a beginner. No golfer buys top of the line clubs to learn on. Neither should you buy an expensive piano when learning.
A fairer comparison would be the Casio CDP-135 against the Yamaha P-45 as they are both the lowest in each respective brand's pecking order. The Casio PX-160 really should be compared to the Yamaha P-125; they are the both the second model up. Oh yes, loved the All In The Family closing credits theme too!
I have owned both, ( and sold both), and I have to say that the keys are both clunky and make a lot of noises when you play on both, I would honestly avoid them both. ( the casio was worse). Look for something newer instead as the newer technology is much better. ( these are both older technologies and key mechanisms) . The best thing you could do is to go and try several digital pianos at a music store. By the way, Kris is an amazing piano player, he could make any piano sound good, I could only dream of playing a tenth as good as him, mabey someday.
Both are inexpensive pianos and they will not withstand very demanding things, for a better key action you have to go yes or yes for more expensive mid to high range keyboards.
Kris: I could have sworn I saw a reply where you said you preferred the Casio 10x more than the Yamaha. Is that correct? I can't find it for the life of me now!
Lukas Sprehn Yes, you are! The Yamaha keys feel like they're partially weighted, the Casio feels fairly close to the genuine article. I realize this is old, but thought I would comment for the sake of those researching. As much as I think the Casio is the better sounding, I'm leaning towards the P-115 myself, as it has optional Bluetooth and the ability to control the device from an iPad.
The casio is also MUCH more affordable. I personally don't like the sound of the Yamaha px series at all...for me as a pianist, Casio has much better expressive capabilities especially for more advanced level playing at 1/3 the price. However, the material it uses is still cheaply made, so prone to wear and tear.
Vários fatores não permitem uma comparação entre p45 e o Px 160. O Px 160 e superior em tudo, mas pela proximidade dos preços, ainda insistem com a comparação. Uma comparação justa seria p115 vc px160.
Damn I just ordered a px-160 and really wanted to know what he thought at the end but the video cut off lol. No bias here because I ordered one, but I do think the Casio sounded a little better 👌 amazing playing btw, just wow
This is the guy who plays better than the demos that come with the piano. He should write them.

0:01 Yamaha P-45 - 1:36 Casio PX-160
Thank you twenty one pilots
Screw the review - I could watch the player play for DAYS!!!
Let's get technical about it. I don't think anyone really cares I called it a "review" instead of a "comparison." You obviously understood what was meant...
LOL TRUE
I own the Yamaha P-45B and love it.
Bought the px-160 because of this video over two years ago. Now upgrading to the Yamaha p-515, also saw your glowing review of that.
Loved the first one sooooo much better.
You are very entertaining to watch playing. Thanks for sharing.
This video helped me in the choice between casio px160 and Yamaha p45, I choose Yamaha, beautiful action !!!
props to the player ... wow
your skillful playing my good sir , has put a smile on my face !! thank you !
I bought the PX-160 thanks to this man. No regrets since. I love the sound and action!
Stef Vanstiphout how it's going?
Agreed ..I just bought the px 160 too mostly because of the action. It’s outstanding value
Ordering mine next week
I want mine for Xmas! Px
@@scwyldspirit Did you buy the px160?, Can you plug a tablet and can you play along with It? I mean songs from the tablet and you playing the PRIVIA?
I'm watching this again to watch this great player :)
lost 5 kilos watching this guy playing
His posture is so bad though. Im sure he suffers from back pain. That's not good for the body. Health is wealth.
@@muscleinspiration6196 Because he's leaning down to play from a standing position (to keep the forearms level with the keys).
@@muscleinspiration6196 because he's standing while playing genius.

Excellent job on Remembering You! Great in general.
So I'm trying t figure out which of these to get, did you find any problems with the clicking sounds on the keys of the Casio?
I've been playing Assisted Living Facilities for several years and I got the CASIO PX-160 day one! It ROCKS. I play classical music and ragtime and the sound is AMAZING. @KMNKeyboardVault as a practice digital piano, which would you recommend more?
great video.....anyone knows the names of the songs he played..!
Damn Great Playing! Thank you for sharing!
What's the title of the song? (0:58)
how is better Yamaha p45b or cassio px350?why?
Honestly, which action did he like better, did he say? Thanks

Drops a sick solo within a first minute and casually: "umm its a good action." What a G
Casio PX 160 all the way.the Yamaha doesn't even come with the ac adapter.plus I caight the casio on sale 100 bucks cheaper 😀
First of all, you play amazingly well. Like I was thinking about bringoing my crap back to the store. Hats off to ya! como se llama ese género de música que interpreta este maestro
Wait, so which did you prefer?
I totally choose yamaha. The sound is more warm..
yeah a bit too warm for me...and the casio is a bit too bright,,must be a way to taylor that
iam going for Yamaha too:)

Muito estiloso essa forma de tocar piano... Que estilo de piano é esse , eu tenho vontade de aprender...
Muito bom mesmo
Não sou nenhum músico, mas me parece que ele improvisou. Esse estilo parece muito as músicas de saloon no piano
Honk tonkey
Funny, I have a Yamaha P-45 but mine doesn't sound like this when I play it. Must be defective....yeah, that's the ticket.
This video is recorded in mono and with an external microphone. Therefore yours should sound better.
LMFAO, I know, mine doesn't either

Does anyone know what's the problem with my PX160? When I play a Bb just before the middle C, I get an extra note when I lift my finger off the key. Could it be dust accumulating under the key? Or is it something else?
Idem. Pero me paso luego de unos 4 años de uso
This is why I never dare to play without headphones when trying out keyboards
The Casio notes just have better clarity, they appear to be able to breath better than the Yamaha notes. Not sure why that is, considering the source for the Yamaha samples, but the Casio just generally sounded better in real life.
No just you Dreaming
The player is fabulous!!!
.I choose casio . .if you play harder on yamaha only the volume changed not the timbre .
Casio sucks, hollow and crappy piano sounds, congrats. Yamaha is at the top of their game in the industry, easily.
@@christensenjackson6320 i am a yamaha fan.But they should have improved dynamic range.they cheated us!
This casio's effect works for all fake plastic key-toys...we are looking for the opposite
Great musician. So ultimately depends on the musician. He can do wonder on very basic instrument.

John Alston The speakers are on board the keyboard itself there's no additional speakers that I'm playing out of
KMNKeyboardVault really? Ok thanks.
Yes they're on board and when he said, that's as loud as it goes… I cringed as I currently own one and hate the very weak speakers in the P45!
Speakers on casio are way better than the p45, I've owned both, and kept the Casio, better key action as well, didnt like Yamaha GHS action.
+KMNkeyboardvault that was really good!!!, could you please tell me which one you'd prefer... it would really help in making my decision
The casio privia Px160 is the same as Casio privia px 160bk? I just received the one I bought but the sounds is very low....
It's the same, the bk at the end is just the colour
Vandálica y Minúscula use the function key to switch off temperance

Does anybody know the names of songs he played?
Sweet Georgia Brown and Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

The Casio keys seemed to be weighted more comfortably. Am I onto something with that assumption?
They have full graded action. It's the only reason to consider it. The Yamaha has better sound obviously though

Lukas Sprehn on this Casio they're heavier than those of p45. So, it mostly depends on personal preferences
