To us, this was like America won the super bowl. Like we won the Olympics even. It was a bittersweet moment for us. For the moment, it wasn’t about race, religion weather you were rich or poor. Any differences we had, were put aside for the time being so we could celebrate as one united country.
I was on CQ the night it was announced. Myself an Iraq veteran and my Staff Sergeant who was twice deployed to Afghanistan, we felt enormous pride that night.
I'll never forget where I was when the scum of the earth was purged from life. Chicago hotel room the night of the day my brother graduated Navy Basic Training.
I'll never forget where I was on 9/11 or on the day Bin Laden was killed...I had a beer in my hand and managed to get drunk all night, when he got killed... I'm a recovering alcoholic now, but that was one of the only good memories I have of drinking.

While I’m sure the sounds of those that lost loved ones will never fully heal I pray that they have found some level of comfort and peace and continue to carry the memories of those gone so that we never forget.

What disturbs me at 30 is 9/11 happened when I was in third grade. We were unified then, and again when i was 18 when we got him, how far we have fallen because 30 percent of the country is so brainwashed to follow just one sad man rather than put our differences aside and be United is common cause once more.
