Feel the Stirn Denmark didn’t invent them, Æ is Latin meaning it was invented in Rome, Ø was invented in Rome but changed in Old Norse (pre-danish times) and Å was invented by the Germans but was adopted later by Norway, Sweden and Denmark. (Sweden adopted it first, then Norway and lastly in 1948 the Danes adopted it into their alphabet.)

Everyone in the comments comparing Alphabets. I'm from Austraya. We don't even have an Alphabet, in primary school English we're just tossed an empty can of Fosters and told to, ''Figure it out''. I still practice on a goon cask to keep myself sharp.
Almost 8 years ago I had to memorize some rules for accentuation and in portuguese, to decide if a regular paroxytone has accentuation or not you have to look at it's last letter. The first rule is that if it ends with either A E O it is not "accentuaded" (?), but my younger brain didn't really understand why A E O and not U I or some mix. So yes, up untill today I still use this song to remember which letters, since the Æ Ø Å kinda sounds like A E O! :)
The problem with trying to reform spelling in English to match pronunciation is - what pronunciation of which version of English? Because there are a LOT of variations out there, across a LOT of countries. And plenty even within countries (try asking a few random Americans whether "Mary", "merry" and "marry" are pronounced the same or different, for example; but maybe only if you want to start an argument.) And if you don't settle on "my" version - why on Earth would I adopt "your" reformed spelling?

The problem with trying to reform spelling in English to match pronunciation is - what pronunciation of which version of English? Because there are a LOT of variations out there, across a LOT of countries. And plenty even within countries (try asking a few random Americans whether "Mary", "merry" and "marry" are pronounced the same or different, for example; but maybe only if you want to start an argument.) And if you don't settle on "my" version - why on Earth would I adopt "your" reformed spelling?
Ian Noble Norwegian faces the same problem, so the solution is just to make it incorrect for everyone.
