Yeah but then it's a fucking shitty bottle of champagne, I mean you can technically get a bottle of bubbles at a restaurant or a bar for that amount of money in Denmark, but then you'd be better off getting a lot of beer.

As an ashamed Yankee, the only time I'm aware of writing an 'Ø' is when I'm handwriting something that has both 'O's and '0's. then I strikethrough the zero to be able to tell the difference. This is normally for some code or model number for something. I wasn't even aware that there were people who were stupid enough to think that accented letters and foreign letters were just "fancy" ways of writing things. Then again, I really shouldn't be surprised by people stupidity at all anymore. :''-(

(Sweden adopted it first, then Norway and lastly in 1948 the Danes adopted it into their alphabet.)

Almost 8 years ago I had to memorize some rules for accentuation and in portuguese, to decide if a regular
paroxytone has accentuation or not you have to look at it's last letter. The first rule is that if it ends with either A E O it is not "accentuaded" (?), but my younger brain didn't really understand why A E O and not U I or some mix. So yes, up untill today I still use this song to remember which letters, since the Æ Ø Å kinda sounds like A E O! :)

The problem with trying to reform spelling in English to match pronunciation is - what pronunciation of which version of English? Because there are a LOT of variations out there, across a LOT of countries. And plenty even within countries (try asking a few random Americans whether "Mary", "merry" and "marry" are pronounced the same or different, for example; but maybe only if you want to start an argument.) And if you don't settle on "my" version - why on Earth would I adopt "your" reformed spelling?
